Thanks. I have the same hammer with the same issues. Estwing can’t sell replacement rings for liability reasons. Now I know what I’m going to do.

I use Evapo rust quite often. I get better results running tools under running water and wire brushing them. It washes off the black residue and any remaining rust and grime.

I've enjoyed each video that you have released I wish that you would leave some captions on the products you use and materials

Thanks for watching! And I agree I need to put captions just always run out of time because I'm on a time crunch to get the videos released.

I have seen 4-5 of your videos, you work quite well and your videos or entertaining. Compared to the complexity of reassembling the Hilti rotary hammer, this restoration was quite simple. I do have a question, you soak the metal parts in Evaporust, then use the wire wheel on your bench grinder. I get that Evaporust leaves the black finish the oxidation has turned into and needs to be removed. Bur considering the hammer had very minor surface rust, why Evaporust at all? You could have gone straight to the bench grinder, wire wheeled it and had the same result ....right?

I agree this was a fairly simple restoration. And I agree it didn't have a lot of rust, but it did have some spots with deep rust and rust in the channel part of the hammer. I've gotten into a habit of soaking anything in it because it gets rid of all the rust and makes it a lot easier to clean after that.

@@TheRussianWoodworker well thing is I have no leather and know nothing of leatherworking. I originally thought about doing a aluminum cast but I don't have the equipment or experience and my uncle doesn't know anyone who does
