It takes more thought to set up and deliver a funny, clean joke. And clean comedy conveys respect of the audience.
@TheJeremyKentBGross3 жыл бұрын
Idk. It's a gradient. Some "comedy" isn't really funny and is just extreme dirty talk as if that was funny on it's own. Female comics tend to do that more often I noticed. On the other hand, most "clean" comedy isn't very funny either. While there are exceptions, most of it is toothless nothing for people who are so prude and squeamish they seem not to enjoy anything in real life. Imo good comedy usually tells truths in a clever unexpected way, or is shocking to just the right amount. It's not dirty because it has nothing of value to say, but it's not clean because it's too afraid to live. It's exactly as dirty as it needs to be. No more and no less.
@its_dey_mate3 жыл бұрын
@@TheJeremyKentBGross Brilliantly said! This opened my eyes to some of the most popular and some of my favourite comedians. Sure, there are exceptions, but the most brilliant comics manage to interwove the "two" types of comedy in one. Take Bill Burr or Dave Chapelle. Arguably the most popular out there, and for a reason. Also about women making dirty comedy I have seen it as well. Its always sex jokes or my p*ssy this my p*ssy that, and it becomes boring towards the third time it is used. Clean comedy is probably the second in the hierarchy with people like Gabriel Iglesias, Degeneres' old specials, maybe Carlin (i have to be honest my memory is a bit muddy, but I feel like he was closer to the clean spectrum). But for sure the best is the golden middle ground.
@TheJeremyKentBGross3 жыл бұрын
@@its_dey_mate I think the only really dark/dirty comic I really like is Anthony Jeselnik. Others comics I have really liked, like Bill Burr, Louis CK, Dave Chappelle, Chris Rock, Bill Hicks, some* later Carlin, they aren't afraid to go there if/when needed, but it just isn't the focus of their act. It's more like appropriately used punctuation for emphasis. I kinda feel like profanity is just like any other key on the keyboard of a piano in your linguistic arsenal, or a few shaders of color to paint with out of the spectrum. Sure, you can have colors that clash, and you can abuse the audience by slamming down all the "low" keys at once with your forearm so it sounds bad because it isn't a chord. But that's no reason to never use bass keys ever ever ever. Similarly I'm sure there's a great joke to be had about your vag out there somewhere, but atm it just seems like what you are leaning on it for garbage material and to fill the uncomfortable silence around your unearned/undeserved attention. But I always kinda percieved people who couldn't tolerate any profanity whatsoever in the same way as someone who was arbitrarily offended by the color yellow, and would go to great lengths to avoid seeing it or having anything to do with the "disgusting/low" people who used or wore it. "Thank God we finally found the GOOD community of people who just never use or wear yellow! It's just so refreshing to not have yellow crammed all in your face whenever you are just walking pass a billboard or someone in a summer dress or trying to watch television. SERIOUSLY there is just NO reason you EVER need to use yellow, it is just so UNNECESSARY. Fortunately I found this safe little place where finally I'm not arbitrarily subjected to yellow all the time, because this is who I really am." And I'm just like: Really? REAAAAAAALY? 🙄 😏 OK, Sure pal. 👍 (Whispers: I think we just found the closet gay homophobic mega pastor over here who's sucking mad underaged D while smoking meth behind the altar. ... Seems like there's gotta be one in every crowd.)

As an Aussie who's travelled a bit, he's right about Germans! Also, almost every year someone will get lost in the outback in Australia in the most remote, empty shithole desert that barely makes the map. There'll be a huge search and rescue effort - big teams of volunteers, helicopters, you name it. They'll find the people 100km from their broken-down van, dehydrated and extremely tanned. It's _always_ Germans. Update: 2 Germans lost right now, 240km from the nearest town in Western Australia, while there's a global pandemic!

This is the kind of comedy and humor I like. Very respectable. He does not resort to the audience or anything personal to offend you just to get a laugh. This is wholesome comedy but not boring. He stands out among other comics in that the hecklers are also respectable because the performer is respectable. He calls out the hecklers and then integrate them into his act without offending anyone. Would love to see him live after this whole pandemic is over. This is the first time I've heard of this guy so I'm gonna look for more of his shows.

I used to travel frequently on business for decades before I retired. Mike really hit the nail on the head when he described the key cards. There's no worse feeling at the end of airports, shuttles, rail stations and buses than dragging luggage and equipment late at night to the room at the end of the hall on the 7th floor only to see that dreaded red light on the lock. Especially in your 60's. Many years ago, a co-worker of mine was using a key to unlock his hotel door. When he opened it, there was a man laying on his bed. He had the same key for that room. Turns out the stranger was hitting on a gal in the bar. She said, "here's my key, go to my room, I'll be right up". . . . . I wonder what was running through this guys mind when my buddy walked in! Well Done Mike Siegel ! Well Done!

Mr. Siegel here is amazing; truly unique jokes, not just the same thing said differently as all the other comics. This video came up in my suggested vids, and I clicked on it for the title alone. Like ten minutes in I'm cracking up, and was like wait, I looked up in the corner to see the Dry Bar logo, and was like, "Ah, no wonder!" It's true about the German tourists, they are everywhere, and they are pretty cool. The French too. I was at a fairly remote camp in Grand Teton National Park with my wife and kids. There were moose and wolves in the area. A young German man was in the next campsite. He came over one evening, and we sat by my campfire drinking. He had been there a couple weeks. He talked about our national parks, which he had been touring. I asked, doesn't Germany have many places just as beautiful as our parks. He said yes, of course. But the best are privately owned, and you can't go there. Here, the best is available to all. I felt really good about that.

So many funny things I could relate to in his set. I remember when I used to ride in the back of my dad's pickup and it was so worn out we could watch the road below us thru the rusted out spots. I lived to tell the tale. Now it takes an engineer to figure out how to work the kids car seats 🙄

Some of my happiest times were when my best friend's Dad would pick us up in his old beat up 1960's Ford & I'd make her ride in the back bed with me going home, among the peeling paint & old dead leaves. Freedom in the wind blowing through my hair, no seats or seatbelts, it was like flying if you imagined. 😊 Great memories.

Mike, you are hillarious, I was trying to get to bed a little earlier tonight and I started watching your show, and now here it is after 1:00 a.m. but it was well worth it. I'll have bags in the morning but won't have any where to go. You were Great.., and not bad on the eyes either. Don't worry I'm 80 years old and I won't hurt you. At least you don't have to worry about kids...hehe

I live in California and had a German girl who moved here with her Army husband hunt me down after a quick meeting at a store .. she was crazy lol .. I kid you not , her name was Onya .. her dad was a huge Hitler supporter , seriously no joke .. she got pissed at my husband and offered to kill him , I never spoke to her again .. no joke.

Leann Wilson weird onya is a name ive never heard in germany, in fact its sounds so foreign that i simply would call you a liar or her a liar lying about her heritage especially if her father is a hitler supporter he wouldn’t have given her such a name

@Jossel Weinstein Of note is the new (a decade or so old) practice in Australia of prefacing every bloody speech -- or putting a plaque on every building -- with the name(s) of the literally thousands of black fella's tribes *estimated* to have encamped there from the "Terra Nullius" times.

Yep. No seatbelts back then. Leather seats. Every time we went around a corner, we would go sliding across to the other side of the car 😂
