Even IF you actually are a victim of unfavorable circumstances, looking at yourself as a victim will only anchor you to whatever situation you're in.
@bvdek
@bvdek 2 жыл бұрын
It does that by initiating a perception of impotence... being a victim is hard to nullify cos it's 'been done to you' from an external source, but being a fuk up can be improved upon dramatically without anyone else, cos it's up to you. That's how I think of it anyway, psychological judo - taking back power over the situation.

@@groglorb8980 Some ppl need help to get up, especially if they've been hurt in the fall. We as strong men (and women) in a supportive community should provide that help to those who need and want it. That's what's important, is that someone wants to do better with/for themselves and their lives. Nothing wrong with needing support, asking for help, or giving it. In fact, quite the contrary, it shows strength.

@@bvdek definitely, asking for help and relying on others is no weakness. It's when the point of it becomes the spectacle and the complaining it's an issue. And sadly those that just want to cause a rukus drown out the genuine calls for aid. But yeah I totally agree with your point, perhaps I worded that a little badly.

An important distinction should be made between "fault" and "responsibility." There are many things in our life that are not our "fault" but are 100% our "responsibility."

@NotMe-et9bx
@NotMe-et9bx Жыл бұрын
I tend to take a more radical approach. Everything, literally everything in the world is YOUR fault. Not necessarily your responcibility, but definitely your fault. Think about it: the first thing you learn in economics 101 is the idea of "Opportunity Cost" essentially meaning that the cost of any given decission isn't simply the cost of doing it, but also the sum benifit of every other possible decission, and all its myriad downstream and knockon effects. So after you reach a certain age, the number of things that theoretically you could have given your life to in order to solve it multiplies infinately, and the absense of action is in itself an action, choosing to do something else is in some ways equal to doing nothing. So in choosing to do whatever you are doing in some sense you are choosing to not do the things necessary to create positive change elseware, and are therefore neglegent to that thing, and if it decays and falls apart, you are at fault for that neglegence. The thing is you are only one person, so you get to choose what you are at fault for, by chosing what you aren't going to give your time, attention, and energy to. And that thing that you choose to give those things to, it better be the best possible thing you can do given your circumstances, and being at fault for something so positive it outweighs the guilt from your neglegence towards all others things.

I'm a retired machinist and mechanical engineer. One thing I learned from my father as I apprenticed under him, was accepting the right responsibility. When the company has a problem, it's the company's problem, not yours. It's YOUR JOB to fix the problem. That instilled attitude always kept me calm during company "disasters" and I was able to stay focused on the job at hand. Even if you help your neighbor fix his car. Help him but don't take the problem on your self.

As a youth counselor I found too many cases where the parents treat punishment as responsibility, so the kids grow up to treat responsibility as a punishment. This has blinded many people to the truth that responsibility is a gift that nobody can take away from you. It is part of your fundamental autonomy and intrinsically it can never be lost, stolen, or broken. Whatever you choose it is your ability to respond. Embracing responsibility as a gift is integral to healing and discovering your autonomy. Thank you for this relaxed and peaceful video that fits the simplicity of the message well.

I grew up in foster care, and I was punished in this manner. They drilled it in me when I was a young kid around 9 years old, that I needed to take responsibility. And honestly, I had no clue what they were talking about. All I knew is I missed my family, foster care was a nightmare for me, and I wanted an exit...and I couldn't find it. While trapped in a helpless state of existence, all I heard was "stop feeling sorry for yourself and take responsibility". All the while, my environment was extremely rigid, so I didn't really understand what take responsibility meant. What choice did I have in anything? I guess for me it meant suffer quietly and do as your told. I teeter tottered between self destructive behaviors and outright rebellion. I'm doing better today, I know better now, but it was a long treacherous road to healing.

Bro, it wasn't that long ago that an entire family could survive off one honest paycheck, especially in a qualified trade like a boilermaker or machinist. That's how they could manage housewives/hubbys, cos one honest job would feed a family. Greed is outta control, the distribution of capital is way outta whack. Our culture sells us this image of ourselves as hard working honorable ppl, which u clearly are, but it's used as a rose tint on the reality... that is, we are being milked fuking dry in this late stage capitalism bs, because the cats with the resources and capital see the volatility and inevitable change coming - they tryna milk it for as much n as long as they can. No man, especially not in the wealthiest country in the world (Aus has highest avg wage per capita btw) should have to work multiple jobs, ontop of already highly skilled, physical and dangerous work like you do, just to feed his family. It's fukn disgusting, and no amount of hollywood fairytale ego-stroking & self-perception washing changes that. Sorry bro, you should be living very comfortably, and it's absolutely NOT a matter of lack of resources, or lack of input on your part. The system is failing ppl like you, and ya buy into it with pride. I get self pride is better than self pity, but don't delude yourself dude. Having said that, good on you for still doing what u gotta to make ends meet, I do respect that. I understand you don't have the luxury to complain. I just don't think it's right, and certainly doesn't needa be this way. I don't like to think of myself as a victim, but I also can't willingly turn a blind eye while I, you and others are being bent over and fukd by ppl who don't feel ANY of the negative consequences of this system.

Mom here. This is exactly why I chose to homeschool my kids & moved us away from the city. I didn’t like what was happening to my children or what they were learning in that environment, so I changed our circumstances to one that I wanted for my kids. To one where they will know how to feed themselves, protect themselves, grow food for themselves, respect themselves & others, and so much more. Our children are our sole responsibility & I wouldn’t trust any government entity to care for my child in any capacity. Such a good video & reminder. So many people need to hear this. Thank you❤️

There are and innumerable number of news articles, economic articles out there, and one can find an article that will say whatever one wants to hear. The trick is to read the articles from both sides, and interpret that through one’s own experience and personal knowledge and observations. Anyone who simply forms her opinions based on articles written by an anonymous person is not being wise. To say that I am unread, misinformed, biased and ignorant because I come to a different conclusion based on the evidence that I see than you have come to is not helpful. That is a major difference between the two sides of the aisle. I feel fairly confident that my credibility is still intact, especially seeing that Biden and his administration has publicly, blatantly clearly stated that it is their intention from the start to raise fuel prices in order to drive there green agenda. It’s not Dwayne that has determined that it’s “Bidens fault”. It is Biden who has said “I’m going to do that”.

I agree. It is killing me physically and mentally as well as spiritually to work 2 jobs. I am on month 7 of 2 jobs 1 full time, 1 part time to support my family. It is exhausting and I hardly have time for family let alone chores or "free time". I have had 4 days off total in the last 4 months. I don't think 2-3 jobs is a great plan long-term for anyone to remain in sync physically/mentally/socially.

I grew up in a very toxic environment. Family and friends were all masters of working the welfare system. Family alcoholism was rampant. Maybe 1 out of 6 people I knew while growing up even had jobs. In my late teens, I developed the attitude that this upbringing was going to be my reason to succeed, not my excuse. I was going to break the cycle. Today, I'm not wealthy, but I hold my own. I became the first in many generations to own my home. At one point I owned 3. My Children were the first in many generations to go to college. My kids barely know what alcoholism is. They had loving parents to raise them. I broke the cycle for the next generations. Today when I hear someone complaining about how their situation prevents them from doing something, the advice I give them: Great excuse, but that also makes for a great reason, give it a try. (My kids hated that phrase when they were young.😂) Your wisdom is awesome. I am so glad I came across your channel!

I didn't always but am homeschoolin mine as well. Everyone needs to learn that there are consequences for being slothful, as well as the other deadly sins and beatitudes etc, but a lot don't even 'know' Father much less knowing morals other than 'laws'. Too bad they aren't following the laws they should be following. Takes a big person to be real with themselves. To learn from your mistakes is far more difficult than making the mistake. It's a heck of a lot easier to get into trouble than to get out of it. I did so I know it's possible. I had to learn the hard way, ya know? Thanks for the thoughts. I needed that. I quit a lot of bad habits . It wasn't easy, but the hardest thing I ever did in my life was to be true to myself and being honest and logical with myself and reasonable. I did it thanks to one big thing. I WAS NOT ALONE. Great video, Personal accountability and responsibility are values that have been lost to the newer generations. Thanks for the wise words.

The level of wisdom this man has is electrifying. I can’t click off a video one it starts playing it’s like a one on one therapy session type thing

Thank you very much. A part of me knows all this, but it hits home when it is spoken out loud. Everyone needs to hear this.

If someone got upset by this video, they're the exact people that needed to eat some humble pie and watch it a second time. Very well put. Can't feel sorry for our own situations when we're the only ones that can change it. And often times we're the reason we're in those situations.
