These have been the best episodes of the Jocko podcast. It would be cool if Jocko & Dr. Peterson wrote a book together, since they make similar points from different perspectives.

@@nelsonjoppi that is so true. I saw in my life that. I just can't be truthful, disciplined, responsible and pursuing a meaning in a mundane environment, people won't ever cease to casually mock you and making jokes about your too-high-motivation like, being unhappy about the environment and seeking something higher is an offense to them and their environment. Discipline is not all. I red Daniel Defoe's "The Fortunes and Misfortunes of the Famous Moll Flanders" and it points out that environment deep effect on you.

@@ericvega3597 surround yourself with people who strive for similar things like you, where you build each other up, as older you get, the less excuses you can make with people that are around you, what I've learned, during my 20's i was ambitious and hungry for 10 people then I've meet people who were the total opposite, slowly but surely I've become like them, now in my 30's i blame myself, how the fuck did i let it came this far, sooo point of the story, "be very careful who your surroundings are, they came clothed as friends but in reality 95% of them are jealous and would do everything to bring you down, just because they can't stand the idea, that you become something better then them"

If you can accept responsibility, even if that is to say, "It's my fault", without destroying yourself, without hating yourself, while still having love for yourself, that will make you a more powerful force than most people believe is possible.

Young people should not be activists because they are not responsible enough? Actually, they should be activists because they lack serious responsibilities when they are young. That’s also why military recruiters target high school kids. Once they get older they will have too many responsibilities to be able to dedicate themselves to activism or the military. The time for activism and military service is when you are very young, so that you don’t neglect your tesponsibilities.
@Wintermute909
@Wintermute909 6 жыл бұрын
Wim Chase activists for what though? How can they know what to change if they don't know anything about themselves? Also the military doesn't let let recruits run wild and do anything they want, but that's exactly what activism is.
