in this video I dry meat for preservation over my woodstove. I bought some inside round beef and cut it into thin strips. I marinated the meat overnight in garlic, sriracha and lime seasoning, hot sauce and maple syrup. I laid the meat on my drying rack above my woodstove and dried it for about six hours, rotating and flipping after 3 hours. If dried properly this meat will last for months without refrigeration. Beef, Deer, Moose, Buffalo or Beaver would work fine for drying. Don't forget to trim any fat as fat doesn't dry properly. I learned to make this from my mom but she made her version in the oven.
Make sure to do your own research before trying this.

Looks awesome bud! I used to do a lot of it myself. I once did a whole deer in dehydrator. And it was delicious!! Now my son in law has gotten into it and it’s been good. I may have to get back into it myself. Thanks for the inspiration Ken!

my brother used to do 50 pounds of jerky in dehydrators at one time. I need to make some when the weather gets warmer. Thank you for sharing with us, Ken. Stay safe and stay warm.

So this method is similar to that of sausage where it's dried rather than cooked, correct? Do you have a video where you cook meat under the sun? Thank you in advance for your time.
@Thelonelyscavenger

Yes, this meat is dried not cooked otherwise it would spoil. I've never cooked meat under the sun before. 🙏🍻👍✌💛

damn not again, the "very long time" phrase... how long ?
@Thelonelyscavenger
@Thelonelyscavenger Жыл бұрын
Depends on how its stored. A cool, dark and dry place it could last 6 months to a year if dried properly. If its stored in sunlight with high humidity it might only last a week. Unfortunately there are several variables that might affect shelf life. Altitude, temperature, humidity and sunlight. Hope that helps 🙏

@@SIDEKICKONKZbin i would say that in a tropical area the temperature and humidity would be too high for longterm storage. I live in a Subarctic region of Canada. Its cool and low humidity
