Good one. I've been looking for the reason for the chamfer. I still don't quite get how it lets the sheet expand if you fill it up with mud. At 3:50 she says the hot mud doesn't expand or contract very much. How does that keep it from cracking?

Always getting valuable information from your videos! Couple of novice questions - when drywall is hung, are both ceiling and inside corners always going to be butt joints and if so, how come we don’t float out inside corners and ceilings like we do a butt joint in the middle of a wall? And second, I assume depending on the room width you could get away with hanging drywall vertically to minimize the chance of butt joints mid-wall? I have seen drywall coming in 9, 10, or even 12 ft tall sheets now. Cheers!

Interesting thing about Goldbond gypsum.. is a sheet is slightly shorter by about an 1/8".

I don't like mesh tape either. The threads pul out of cured mud to easily. However.. what about Fibafuse?

Sure! You can "v" them before hanging. Just take your razor blade and run up the factory edge at a slight angle. Removes any of the loose paper and creates a bit of a beveled edge.

Just curious if you want to leave space for expansion and contraction than when you pre-fill with hot mud.... Aren't you theoretically connecting the two pieces anyway with the pre-fill?..... Doesn't make any sense.... Anyone else has any thoughts on this?
