The baseboards look so modern and different. I bet it feels good pulling that rope away. I'm looking forward to you pulling the bottom tear-away. See you next video!

Yeah Max, the flush baseboards look super sick in person!🔥 The homeowner is very pleased to say the least.👍🏻 He’s thinking about getting color changing LED lights for them.💡 Can’t wait to pull off that tear away! Haha...😂 Thanks for watching and commenting my friend! -Paul

For anyone wanting to do this, you can increase/decrease the height of the "baseboard" as well. I plan to do a 5 1/2" or 7 1/2" height in my house so it matches normal baseboard dimensions. To protect against dings and what not, just use wood instead of the backer board. Can't wait to do this in my future home.

Looks great Paul ! I started using foam backer rod instead of rope because it's much cheaper, lightweight and easier to clean.

Great channel, your very kind sharing your techniques of the trade. I’m a carpenter from the uk so when I did any patching after window installs etc, we mainly use gypsum finish plaster, and carlite bonding or browning as base coat. So I’m having to learn some new techniques no I live in North America. So thanks for the help

This whole thing is awesome, especially the cement board base and I’d probably want to run led lights in that channel. Too bad Trim-Tex hasn’t yet made it to where I live…..

Never heard of this, or seen it, but it's probably more common where you are which I believe is in the east somewhere? Interesting, but not sure I'd go that route but it does look cool. Look forward to seeing some still of the finished painted walls in your next video? Or maybe you can post a pic or two in the community tab? Always something new to learn about. Catch you on the next video. I just finished uploading one last night that I'll release on Saturday am comparing the Level 5 mud box to hand finishing. Thanks Paul.

I hear ya Guy! The flush baseboard isn’t very well known here either. The homeowner had been in touch with several of the larger general contractors around around the area about starting a project like this. But, they couldn’t understand what these homeowners were even talking about! Haha...😂 I still have to do another coat on the flush base and then spray all of the walls with an orange peel texture before I can prime and paint.👍🏻 Cool. I can’t wait to see your next video! Thanks for stopping by man! -Paul

I like the way you do your floor protection.. super tight. All seems taped intelligently.. how I operate also.

Drywall to the floor, use Dado blade installed on circular saw following a leveled guide. This cuts a nice groove which you can then pop in your channel. Just ensure you have screws set near top and base of channel and you're golden.
@ryanwiencken56794 жыл бұрын
nice work. do you level 5 that or leave it up to the painter? The bullnose on the floor seems strange, what happens when flooring is added? also seems the dywall/base is more susceptible to damage and cracking, many callbacks? bravo good job thanks

I’m trying to finish my place with no baseboards on hardwood... I just researched the video and you used super seal tear away. Is that something I could use on the drywall between the hardwood and drywall for a clean finish with no baseboards or reveal?

Thanks for posting this video Paul. I’m a realtor in Miami and these reveals are quite common in our market. I just completed my powder room myself using the 1 inch zip bead yet I’m questioning if I chose the right height. I guess it’s personal yet I’m curious to know the height that you used? I plan to install them throughout my apartment and I’d like to include them in the bathrooms as well, yet I hesitate to use them in the bathrooms in case there’s flooding. What are your thoughts? Thanks agin for posting!

I'm doing a job like this in Whistler Canada soon. I been researching a lot and there are not too many video yet on youtube. thanks for posting, that is pretty awesome!!! if you have a chance I have a few questions: 1- have you tried caulking packing ropes instead of a rope regular rope? when you pack the rope in, does it stick proud a little making your first mud application thicker and kind of beveled or it stays in pretty flat inside? 2- I seen a lot of people gluing and stapling the Trim Tex. I assume the one you used are mud set? I am kind of afraid of stapling since the stapple may start to rust and bleed through at some point. have you heard of anything similar in your area? 3- I am also doing windows and doors with baseboards like yours. would you recommend using the F-Trim or the L trims for the doors and windows? I was thinking using the F-trim and sit it one a bead of latex caulk to stick them to the jams and around the windows. otherwise you always end up with an airline crack or worst if there is movement of the wood. it gets pretty cold in winter in Whistler and pretty hot in summer so I know the windows are going to move somewhat. any tips on that? 4- you used a fiberglass tape on the return of the trims. is this because it would crack under the mud or you are just playing safe? 5- Would you say it would be a better idea to prime and paint those trims before installing around windows with natural wood?

Beautiful! Novice question, How do you keep the mud from cracking if you’re only doing one thick coat?
@LightGesture2 жыл бұрын
Definitely not 1 thick coat. The fortifier will help with it cracking. Also the mesh tape.

very shaky video. take it easy and keep camera quiet so I can watch it properly
@philipperiondel30934 ай бұрын
The video is too nervous and flies too quickly. One don't have time to really watch details. I would suggest to show less, but show better. No one needs to see all of the walls. That said, its'a pretty good job. I am a DIYer, and am about drywalling with such reveals. I ordered Z profiled beads from Trim-Tex that I am waiting for. It should allow to stop drywalls in a neat way at 5" from the bottom. Then, once the drywalls done, I just will have to install 4-1/2" baseboards of the same thickness as my drywall in the empty space to have 1/2" reveals and flush baseboards.
