Father’s Day of 2021 I blew the top end going like 40 mph. Back wheel locked up I got scared af and pulled the clutch and luckily the wheels rolled. I called my dad to come for me with the truck. I posted it online and was able to get my money back due to the lack of inventory out at the time. Some older guys came in a work truck from NY state to PA for it.

How many miles was on your bike when it went south? I just got a 2015 with only 3852 miles, however it doesn't sound happy. I hear sorta a Knock. Its sound perfectly healthy at idle. The Knock is not loud, and its only there while under load. Maybe its normal, the bike runs really strong
@Munizjr1986Ай бұрын
@ if I remember correctly around 9k miles. If you hear a knock get it checked out. Maybe it’s something minor that you can fix and avoid a bigger issue. When it comes to supermotos I’d probably never buy used again, cause I know how I like to ride mine.

So as it turns out it was only an acoustical issue with sound waves bouncing off my aluminum skid plate. I removed the skid plate and the sound is gone. Now I'm looking for a different skid plate solution. Thanks for the reply. I appreciate it.

Did you not hone the cylinder or check the ring end gap?

How much does parts cost for replacement of bent valve replacement?
@BentleyCoachworks Жыл бұрын
Bent valves mean the head will be damaged too, along with the piston. You will need a new piston, a new head, new valves, valve seals, and anything else that could be damaged. Best to find a parts bike and use that head if its good, and replace the piston with a new one. As long as the rod isnt bent

What rebuild kit aside from the head did you use??

I used the vortex kit, really nice kit

Question for you, I have two motors, one is a burned out cylinder and head, the other has bronze flakes and a knock, could I swap the cylinder, top end and the piston head from one to the other relatively easily?
@BentleyCoachworks Жыл бұрын
Make sure the cylinder, piston, head all checks out on the ome with the blown bottom end. While ur swapping make sure to do valve seals, set valve clearances, new gaskets and all should be fine! Remember to use assembly lube or motor oil on all moving parts, and keep everything clean!
@TheSmokingMustache Жыл бұрын
@@BentleyCoachworks Thanks man! Really appreciate it =] Edit what's the ome? Never mind, just realize it's a typo for one lol,

I just replaced my head on my drz but now I’ve lost a lot of power in my bike and feels very slow. Feels like it’s holding in. Any ideas?
@BentleyCoachworks Жыл бұрын
Make sure valve timing and valve clearances are spot on, make sure you have a new gasket and check that the carburetor boots are both sealed properly. Make sure the head bolts are all torqued down to the proper spec. It could even be that the other head flowed differently and the carb needs to be rejetted slightly.

Wicked video man. I’m about to buy a 2008 with 47 000kms on it. Runs great but I’m worried I might need to fix something in the near future. What usually goes on these bikes at that mileage?
@BentleyCoachworks9 ай бұрын
They are pretty bulletproof, ive had the atv version of this engine the ltz400 too and that was insanely reliable. Just make sure valve clearances are good, follow maintanance schedules, frequent oil changes. This one failed because someone worked on it and used different cam caps and didnt torque them down, wouldnt have happened if it was taken care of properly

Cylinder works make a good one for less than the oem if you want a new replacement, or find a good used one on ebay, or browse apps like craigslist, gumtree, etc whatever you have where you are from. Good luck!

@BentleyCoachworks2 жыл бұрын
@@dzr8125 keep your oil changes regular, check your valve clearances according to when the manual suggests and NEVER use cam guides from another bike. If you'res are worn replace the whole head. The guides are machined to the head so different ones will be machined differently
