DS5 by Citroen - Good as a German? I took it to Paris

DS5 It’s undeniable that this is different and distinctive. But is it as distinctive and ground breaking as that original DS of the 1950's, the car that some say made Citroen?

Nice commentary. It's a stunning piece of automotive design, in pictures, videos and in the metal. I've never driven one so I'll reserve judgement on it's dynamics. I can say as a design, it'svorigins go back at least a decade to the Citroen C-Sport Lounge, a bright yellow concept car with a startling interior, frameless suicide doors, a zenith windscreen, those segmented roof windows, and the chrome sabres. Only the basic silhouette, the roof windows and the sabres remained. PSA may brand it as a DS now, but knowing what I remember, it will always be a Citroen. .

I will say it again the style here of your videos is on a whole other level. I want to create like this. The music is such a big part of carrying along the story and creating the mood. Have one of these and it's rubbish. Had from new in 2012 now the display and radio don't work the driver window switch fell apart. It's always got the bloody engine light on. Absolute nightmare to work on under the bonnet when it came time to do the belt. Head up display not working could go on and on. Please save yourself the headache and buy a Honda or Toyota.

Actually I love France car, my first car was 306, continue with 406, now 308T, my passion towards the cars no boundaries, but what make me to feel so sad, is why PSA never did their study, on the cars behave in ASEAN countries, so many defect, in terms of car malfunction while driving or during starting, error pop up, very comment , I hope some changes happen soon, Iam going for DS now

It’s not German. It’s very very French and has its own unique characteristics and this is what will eventually establish it and draw in a captive audience, a bit like what saab done with there cars....I like it and prefer it over bmw and Audi who tend to be very over rated.

My Citroen DS5 is Airdream 1600cc mileage is 8000 MILE ONLY , with door seals already split , Auto gear box been replaced , an STILL clonks , engine management replaced , rear hatchback struts replaced , plastic lower door chrome pealing, WONT mention the turbo lag, the jitter bug ride an a trade in thats made feel ill ,

Oh, dear... Sonds like a bit of a monday car. I have always driven nothing but Citroëns and a few Peugeots, mainly BX, CX and XM - so ofcause there were some amongst them, that were bad. I understand these cars, and therefore, it is easy for me to keep them reliable. My first brand-new car is the 2015 Peugeot 508SW with the 180BHP HDiEAT6 that I drive at the moment, when the lease is up, I will pick up a DS5 with a similar drivetrain. The 508 has now done 132.000 kms, and I have had 2 breakdowns - one in Sweden, one in Finland - both of which were mended swiftly and to my utmost satisfaction. Even after the warranty, my PSA dealership of choice (PSA Niederlassung Hamburg) somethimes even offered to cover the repair of known sniggets to keep the car and me happy. Speaking of French quality cars - neither my BX Diesels or my Peugeot 505s never let me down, ever. Fantastic workhorses! But unfortunately, neither Citroën nor Peugeot build such cars anymore :(

I'm looking to buy this car this year or next, and from all the reviews, people constantly mentioned the bad suspension. Is it a deal breaker. To be honest, I've already made up my mind, so i think this car will be a collectible in a years to come, so I'm buying it anyways.

the suspension is acceptable over poor quality roads and only bad if you want to drive it like Lewis Hamilton, otherwise its a smooth compliant ride great for long journeys
