Being a software engineer with over 10 years of experience. It depends on the interviewer if he or she wants to ask DSA. All they want to test is your critical thinking skills. Small companies may ask easy DSA questions. But believe me the software development and management has become so complex that we need people with critical thinking skills. For youth, asking React or Springboot does not make sense all they can test is critical thinking.

bhai i take interviews for top AI company, we ask basic pandas, numpy programs at start & then keep DSA (I prefer only low & rarely medium if the person is too confident) as that too optional, if we want to promote for senior roles. there's a reason for having DSA but most of the mass recruiters/consulting companies are using this as means for mentally harassing job seekers.

Doesn't make sense about the market condition. TCS, Infosys, Wipro etc. shares are all time high and their profits too. Then why the market conditions are tough. Also it is not as if they've developed some advanced level AI that can do 100 people's work. They are paying dividends to their shareholders like crazy, increasing executive level people's salaries. So why they're not hiring and why the market conditions are tough for them.

These IT companies are choosing second option. That's why there are lots of layoff going on. Now somehow they are showing little profitable because of this layoffs and no salary hikes

I recently gave an interview of 3 rounds in a company of 2500 CR net worth for doing an internship there. I cleared all the technical rounds there and the 3rd round was the HR round. I gave the hr round, then after 3 days they informed me that they are not moving forward with my application. I mailed the interviewer for asking the reason for rejection. They said that I was not honest with my answers and I think I don't make mistakes and acc. To them I was not humble and grateful 😢. Can you believe them?😢 It was a complete baseless reason that seemed like they didn't want to even hire and I was sitting with a hope that I am almost selected 😢

It totally depends on the market. If a company needs candidates, they will be hired after only a phone call asking very basic questions. If the market is tough, they will add 3-4 layers.

You may not use DSA in your project, but an engineer with solid understanding of DSA is always preferred.. it helps you with other means for example it will help you understand Tomcat vs Ngnix, SQL vs NoSql, or Kafka vs Rabbit MQ. In a nutshell you can understand inner workings of the tools and libraries you use

Conclusion of the video that I got is, we need to be prepared for every worse situation, we cannot simply expect that market will correct and no DSA. Any thing can happen any time. Compitition has increased and be ready for worse. Don't give any cance to reject you. Be motivated guys. Persistence is the key. Either it is dev or dsa. Prepare both. Find balance. Keep coding 😊

I agree with you. But I think lets not discourage people from doing DSA. There are indirect benefits of knowing DSA in day today development. Also, as lot of people are doing DSA now, though who are still not doing will stay back and eventually AI might replace them( sad but true)

This situation is much worse in America. Interviews don't even ask DSA anymore, straight to case interview where you need to do something that takes 8 hours in 40 minutes. DSA is not a need but a prerequisite. Mainly because even though there are more people in India, there are a lot more experienced swe in the US. And the pay is really good so everyone applies.

Hum bohot zyada to nhi but han thoda bohot DSA use karna padta hai, sometimes dynamic programming (recurrsive solution) and arrays and hash map every now and then. Trees and graph are rarely used. I am a MEAN stack dev in product based company

Just a thought, There are a lot of other criteria to eliminate someone [Ex. If a candidate is a cultural fir for the company or not] from a job interview. Yes, it's a cumbersome task for the company who is hiring, but they should make sure that if they want to eliminate someone, at-least eliminate in such a way that the person who is selected justifies themselves for the job and not based on whether they can perform a task which is nowhere related to the interview :)
