Just started at a local alarm company. Working inside at the moment for troubleshooting IP cams & F/A . I have a IT background so I know IP NVR like the back of my hand. Thank you for the video! I've disabled old alarm systems but this knowledge will get me a raise! New career better pay! I'm one week in. I got the wireless systems down pat but commercial NEEDS to be all wired. The interference from commercial is nothing to mess with wireless..... X-Ray, heavy wireless traffic. Again THANK YOU FOR YOUR VIDEO! Btw to the comment below.... if you install an alarm sys. you better know about resistors on zones.. Otherwise you need to keep walking.... Love the line seizure part. THAT IS KEY

Nice Video! Forgive me for the intrusion, I am interested in your opinion. Have you heard the talk about - Mahorrla Defence Wisdom Method (do a search on google)? It is a smashing exclusive product for securing your home from danger minus the hard work. Ive heard some incredible things about it and my m8 at very last got amazing results with it.

Started With DSCs PC 5010. Then the 832, then PC1832, love them and the PC 1864. Just Learned they are Discontuing the Power Series. Maybe even the Neo? I use the Programmable Outputs to shut off a 1" Ball Valve (Viking WSV2). Within 2 seconds of a leak using Wireless and/or hardwired water sensors. I also use a PGM to Turn off Air Conditioning if a Perimeter door is opend more than 5 minutes, or whatever time you want. I also have a PGM Shut off AC, If Heat or Smoke is Detected, to keep Smoke Pumped throughout the House, or give more Air to the Fire. Sorry to see Power Series Going. I had Assumed the Neo was a System where Keypad Contained the Control Panel, so I never Researched it. Thanks for the Video. Want to Add, on the Keypad, there is a 5th Terminal, "Z", Can be used for a Door near Keypad, just run a pair of wires from door contact to Black and Z Terminal on Keypad, You will need to Program that Keypads Z Terminal. Some can not only be Programmable Input, but a Programmable Output, Trigger a Door Strike... Use to do a Lot Of Phone work. Usually it is. White/Blue to Green Blue/White to Red White/Orange to Black Orange/White to yellow, When converting Category Rated Wiring to Old Quad Wiring. Blue/White should go to Ring Terminal. Ring(Red)has a Negative Voltage with Respect to Green. I need to Check if they will continue the Neo. I believe I saw or Read, the Neo won't handle the TL 150, Or Envisalink, hope they have an equivelent or Better. Will leave a Positive Randy/Stratmando Strategic Electric & Security

I am very sorry that you have such a situation. The question of home security will always be relevant. I live in a not very favorable area and therefore I had to install a security system. When choosing between wired and wireless, I certainly chose the wireless option from Kangaroo. This makes life a lot easier, no need to break the walls and throw a bunch of unnecessary wires. The whole system works through a wi-fi network and can be controlled using the phone, in general, I am very pleased with my purchase.

God help who ever saw this 2015 video and had to install a DSC Neo system without training. Lucky in 2019, four years after its release, most of the issues have been fixed.

Hi, new on this kind of installations, great video 👌🏼, just a question, what is my option for installing the phone line if my phone line is fiber optics coming in the house?

Possible it will does not work, cause fiber is at others words a VoIP line / digital line, which works at different voltages/frequencies/types. In these cases it is suggested considering to use Ethernet/internet, or GSM/GPRS/SMS communication modules.

Hi. Many thanks for an excellent tutorial. This is the video that made me dare to try a self installation myself. I have a question though. Is it a PG9945 door contact you have in the video? If that's the case, do you know if the aux-input identifies as a different zone compared to the built in reed-switch if I would use both?

In the Red/Black/Yellow/Green group, i have 2 keypads and 4 extension modules. ITs difficult to try and get 4 wires all connected in one color. Can i crimp them all together and just have 1 wire going into these slots? does that make any difference?

Eols are installed at the end of line not in panel They are used to make sure the integrity of the wiring circuit is good. If its in the panel it defeats the purpose. Any installer not putting them at the last device on that zone needs to go back to school or have his liscenae taken away The eol is used to create a drop across the zone voltage. If that drop is present the panel is fine If its not its an open. The eol is used to make sure there isnt a short on the field wiring. So if its put in the panel and there is a short before the last device every device after that short can be open ed without effecting the zone or open according to the panel. If the reaistor is at the last device and there is a short before that last point or eol it will drop out that resistor and an open will show up on the keypad or panel as open So the eol is used to make sure there isnt a short or a parrallel closures from field wiring across contacts or other devices. The eol should always be at last device period Hope this helps

Speaking of going back to school, it would help to spell words correctly. From an engineering perspective, I disagree that EOLs must go at end of line. There are cases where they can go in the panel without defeating the purpose.

EOL resistors are a throwback from the 60's & 70's. I have NEVER used them in DSC panels since 1994 and NEVER had an issue. Also, you can't put an EOL resistor at the end of the line in alarm circuits because it's a loop (series and not parallel circuit). If you really feel that it's based on being lazy not putting them in, think again if you're using wireless. That's fricken lazy and stupid too.

I have PC1616 and PK5500 - put 1k resistor for bell and 5.6k resistors for all the zones, but i sill cant power up the system - 1. its showing message "powering up please wait" 2. after while that it flashes warning and ready lights - only on fresh start 3. message "powering up please wait" 4. only warning light is lit 5. shows on display blank time and beeps sometimes 6. it seems that system is restarting itself and goes threw steps 3-5 If i try [*] + [anything] it does nothing or sometimes shows message "system is unavailable" If i time it right i can enter *6 (for date) or *2 (to get warning info) but can't get pass master code before it restarts again Any ideas whats wrong - initially i added bell, door sensor and motion sensor, i removed all of them and replaced with resistors but problem still exists Power supply outputs ~18,8V ac PCB outputs 13.6V DC to keypad
