Caleb, I finally succumbed and bought an a7III. This list of accessories is fantastic. What a great service you're doing by sharing all your persistent and dogged research into how to make these great camera more usable and functional. This camera will be my long battery full frame option. I gravely doubt it will match the beauty of the images and easy of use from my X-H1 and X-T3---they are fantastic and spectacular color out of the camera--something I never ever got from any Sony. They are the king and queen of APS-C, and speed booster give it an authentic FF look!!! But I think everyone should have at least one full frame camera option in their arsenal--and the A7III looks like the best option. thanks again.

The ND Throttle Lens Adapter is a great purchase for shooting with Canon glass! It is similar to having a built in ND filter on your camera like you would find in some pro cinema cameras, it is clickless so it is smooth to adjust the brightness/ darkness even while recording, and because the A7 cameras are mirrorless, when ever you change the lens, it has the potential to expose the sensor to dust, this acts as a protection between the sensor and the outside world. The one thing I dislike about using this adapter is the weird lens flares you get when shooting into hard lights. The AF doesn't work well on my A7SII but that is expected with any 3rd party adapter!

Let's see what's on my list of your suggestions: - Definately pledged for the power junkie. Very versatile piece of kit. - Tamron is on my 'to save Euro's for' list as a walk around lens for holidays. - Azden mic may end up replacing my Rode videomic pro as I love the auto power on/off function. No risk of forgetting to switch it on or off and it doesn't use a 9V battery. - SmallHD would be nice to have but above my budget.

Tamron 28-75mm is sold out all over... I had to drive from Houston to Austin, Texas and purchase it from an eBay seller for $1,200.00. It was worth it compared to the Sony 24-70mm /f2.8 for $2,000.00. Which allowed me to use that extra cash to get the Sony 70-200mm f/2.8.

Solid video. I think this camera will be the hybrid shooters top dog for a while. So most A7III Are probably not gonna end up in cages, I would think. Got mine yesterday and I have to say it is the best allrounder so far.

I wish there were more camera cases that accommodated battery grips. If you're just starting out and want a shotgun mic, the Takstar SGC-598 is cheap as chips but sounds great. I own that one. Of course, depending on what you're doing, a lav mic might be a better choice.

One thing I think no one is mentioning is that when I used battery grips on the A7RII you couldn't charge the batteries in the battery grip through the camera. The A7III will allow you to charge the grip through the USB C or regular USB ports as long as the grip is on.

Hey man! I live in Roscoe and recently talked with Corbyn Tyson. He told me about you. I know it's a difficult question to answer, but I'm trying to figure out which camera to buy. The Sony a7III, or the GH5. OR, wait for the Sony a7sIII which is supposed to be announced soon this year?? I will mainly be using the camera for video; promo videos, sports, family, kids, etc. Photography isn't all that important, but I certainly want to take pictures with it. Your advice will probably help me make my decision. Thanks man! Should meet up for a beer at Prairie Street sometime! Jason

A while back I was looking for something similar to that Power Junkie device for the Canon EOS M50. I had found one device that converts USB power sources to ~7.4v but it made a loud buzzing sound and didn't appear to push enough amps to work properly. ~$53 just for the Power Junkie unit is a bit much for me. Kind of tempting but with it not coming out until December and the price, I think I'll just buy a few extra batteries. :D It is a good idea to use those Sony NP-F style batteries... Hmm, I'm going to look around to see if there is a more simple NP-F to DC adapter with a jack that will fit into the Canon DR-E12 battery coupler. I already have a few generic NP-F in the 2000-3000 mAh range from some lights I picked up. Anyways, nice video!

Very nice work! I learned a lot from your channel! Question: I usually use Rode video mic pro (above talent head, wired into GH4) and a lav mic clipped on the subject collar (wired into Zoom H1). The lav mic always sounds a lot better. The camera audio track always captures a lot of noise and the signal-to-noise ratio never seems to be good enough. Is preamp going to help increase SNR? If so, why it does not increase the noise? Do you have some recommendation to learn about audio preamps?

GH5 does 10-bit 4:2:2 at 200/400mbps. The Sony can't make professional results when compared with 10-bit 4:2:2. But it's a nice camera when you need autofocus and you can go down to low bitrate 8-bit 4:2:0 in order to get autofocus.
