As an American citizen who’s watching your videos is actually enjoying to watch how other countries conduct Their road tests, here in the United States our road tests are usually 5 to 10 minutes with a couple of left and right turns 3 point turns and parallel parking.

Hi mate. 👋 Is it ok to wait on a no stopping bus stop clearway with a wide yellow line along the kerb of the bus stop while in a stationary queue of traffic?
@dtc_uk
@dtc_uk 3 ай бұрын
Yes, absolutely. You havve no choice. If you left it clear, a bus would still not be able to get into it.

Hi Wayne. Unfortuntally, it make no sences at all to keep a bus stop clear. AS far as the driving test is concerned, pupils are expected to proceed into the bus stop and not keep it clear

🙃 I’ve had a look online and that’s absolutely right, with clearways basically it means no stopping unless you literally have no other choice but to stop, for example, if you’re on a motorway and it’s so congested with traffic you will have literally no other choice but to stop, also, last year I was driving home from work on a 24 hour clearway (which only permits stopping in a lay-by unless signs say otherwise) and there were roadworks and traffic lights which were on red so I literally had no other choice but to stop, with clearways I imagine that there are double red lines which means literally no stopping at all unless you’re in a stationary queue of traffic or for reasons outside of your control, I always have a look through of the Highway Code, it says this about yellow zigzag lines :- rule 238, which is a waiting and parking rule states “You MUST NOT wait or park or stop to set down and pick up passengers on school entrance markings when upright signs indicate a prohibition of stopping”, so, it’s basically saying that if yellow zigzag lines don’t have an accompanying sign then they are only advisory but you still shouldn’t park there and you still shouldn’t pick up or drop off passengers there because you should respect the reason why they’re there (to keep school children and school staff safe and to give them an unrestricted view when crossing the road), if yellow zigzag lines have an accompanying sign it means that there is a mandatory prohibition of stopping so if you stop on them to park or to pick up and set down passengers you’re breaking the law but stopping on them in a stationary queue of traffic or at a red traffic light is absolutely fine because it’s outside of your control, you could wait before the yellow zigzag lines start and then start to move when you see the traffic in front of you start to move but doing that wouldn’t make any sense because some yellow zigzag lines are quite long and you’d hold traffic up which isn’t good for traffic flow and it would annoy other drivers, especially if you’re preventing them from turning left or right, with bus stop clearways it says this about them in the Highway Code :- rule 243 of the Highway Code states :- “DO NOT stop or park near a school entrance, at or near a bus stop, except when forced to do so by stationary traffic”, rule 240 of the Highway Code states :- “you MUST NOT stop or park on a clearway”, however, if you look online at schedule 19 part 1 section 4 of the traffic signs regulations and general directions 2016 it says :- “other exceptions, nothing in paragraph 2 applies in relation to a vehicle which is prevented from proceeding by circumstances beyond the driver’s control or which has to be stopped in order to avoid injury or damage to persons or property”, so, it’s basically saying that if you’re on a clearway and you have no other choice but to stop due to reasons beyond your control or to avoid injury or damage to to people or property then that’s absolutely fine.

I used some of them hacks 30 years ago obviously a different test like no independent drive or sat nav. But hands signal with being death in my left ear could hear and woud say right by that red cat or some other landmark. You would use these hacks if someone is giving you directions as well. Not just on test

@dtc_uk I've had the odd bump when young. Just on my own like on icey roads or going to quick to make a turn but never other road users . When we are young we all believe we are invincible and a bump does remind us we ain't. I definitely don't recommend having an accident but if you do it's a learning experience and will actually do you good as realise it can go wrong. Plus when you get older you don't take the same risks

Hello Aaron 🖐Firstly, an accident/mistakes only teaches sensible people - not all. Unfortuntally, some drivers never seen to learn, one accident after the other. Secondly, Yes, when we're young, we think we are invincible. I use to think I was superman. Now, I struggle to lift basic weights

@@CrimeScope1 counting is good untill you get lost on counting. Often I don't count but look at the picture of the roundabout on the sign then look for the exit before entering if open or look for the road markings. If you select the correct road for the exit you will naturally be in the right place.
