I'd like to point out that the clothing they are wearing isn't kimono. Kimono is Japanese traditional clothing and as BTS are Korean, they are wearing modernized version of Korean traditional gowns for men with traditional hats. Korean traditional clothing is called 'Hanbok'.

Isn’t it cool how well versed we have become with our vocabulary?!? That was the first thing that stuck for me too in this reaction. In my head I was telling DT: honey, that’s not a Kimono. Kimonos are Japanese. What the boys are wearing are Hanboks. ☺️ The more you know! 😆
@lux32264 жыл бұрын
Lol, the moment he said kimono, my first thought was "oh no, DT... it's a hanbok - they're gonna get you in comments..." xD To be fair, most people internationally know of kimonos, but aren't really familiar with hanboks unless they're into Korean culture. As a Korean, I appreciate you guys setting people straight about it in such a nice way. Borahae. 💜💜💜

The part where RM is stuttering while rapping - he's basically making fun of people who at first insulted them when they were small then suddenly when BTS became big, they want to apologize and be all nice to them. They're calling out all the fakes in the companies and entertainment industry. He's making fun of how they apologize, stuttering and shit. RM's not even raising his voice in the song because he doesn’t have anything to prove to anyone, it’s like “I’ll just give you this real quick, don’t even worry about it” 😂😂

DKDK did a good job in explaining the korean word play, but still missed some parts. Like RM suddenly stuttering, where he is mocking other rappers or J-Hope's whole verse about others trying to figure out how to copy their success (which YG entertainment is especially known for.. and SM too.. they've actually been investing money to get to understand BTS' fame when it is obviously not a thing that can be copied) Yoongi's part is also about how no one believed in them, looked down on them, cut them out (of shows, concerts, etc) and how the boys got on top DESPITE all that

@enicole12034 жыл бұрын
I say this almost every time I see someone react to this explained video. I really like the cultural aspects, but I feel like David missed the mark when it comes to his interpretation of 'frog in the well'. I think RM is not mocking other people for being stuck in KOREA, but for being stuck in a narrow mindset that prevents them from exploring new and different ways to do things, and that's why they'll never grow out of where they are professionally. RM is very proud of Korea so he wouldn't use it to mock someone. But he would roast people who always say "a rapper can't do this' or 'an idol singer can't do this' - that is a frog in the well mentality and because they are willing to look and expand beyond their boundaries, that's why they're the most successful and people who refuse to get out of their well will die in there.

The 'homework' reference was also about that particular frustrating time for BTS in Korea. They had recently exploded in popularity internationally and now, Korea was (finally) taking note of their group. But not in a praiseful manner rather *certain* entertainment companies launched think tanks and various groups who were supposed to work out what made them popular so that they could repeat if 'for the rise of the k-wave'. As an army who experienced this, it was frustrating to see BTS being put down so openly and publicly and this 'homework' reference can also refer to the fact that these groups can study and do the homework on BTS all they want but they can never replicate the band or the bond with us. This song was a true balm for for army and burn for haters! P.s this song was made for Festa which is a series of festival-like releases on the week of their debut. It occurs annually and is done to mainly cater to their own fans. And so this includes free song releases and covers and more. The songs are also done pretty last minute due to the middle of year timing of Festa which sort of comes in the middle of everything. And so, since this song was made and released within a VERY short time, its important to remember the context of the timeline and environment it was released in.
