Pro-tip... take a piece of plywood have it cut in half making two 4x4 pieces. Lean them together over the top of the generator in an A frame style. Make sure the exhaust is directly blowing out one side. Cuts the generator noise in half or more. I do this while deer hunting in east Texas. Keeps the noise pollution way way down.

That's interesting, I was just thinking of ways to stealth out the noise and was thinking more extremem but good to hear just plywood can baffle the noise somewhat effectively.

Just bought one of these generators due to losing power from the recent tornado outbreak here in Michigan last Thursday (August 24th 2023). We had our fridge, some fans, Internet/cable boxes, 2 TV's, my computer, and some other stuff hooked up to it. We got 26 hours on gasoline (2 fill ups totaling 3.6 gallons) and 17 hours constant on a 20 pound propane tank (4.6 gallons) for a total of 43 hours of runtime. These seem considerably more efficient than our old open frame regular generator that would go through a 4ish gallon tank in 12.

I purchased a Firman W3300i back around February. It is the non dual fuel version of this one. I am very happy with it so far! I can run the A/C in my RV, along with most of the small stuff. It won't run the A/C and microwave at the same time though, which is fine with me. I lucked up and found one discontinued at Bass Pro for $599, and was able to grab the last one. Keep us posted on the long term with this one!

Great video and initiative to show the generator. Keep it going... Some suggestions... For noise, the generator and your voice are all being adjusted by your camera automatic audio level control. You should hold a < $100 digital sound level meter in the frame as you walk away. For comparison, most stationary home generators have a noise spec at 25'. For instance, 65 dBA at 25'. When you powered up the A/C and microwave, the propane line covered up the meter on the generator panel. Really need to see a number like WATTS / current / voltage delivered. The generator sounded like it was seriously struggling and it's speed was unstable. Viewer of video has no confidence that all is well. The answers are always in the numbers. What is "quiet" (dBA at 25'). Stable operation of the A/C means showing 1500W at 120V 60Hz. Adding the uW, then we have 2500W with 120V and 60Hz to prove all is well. Lastly... is there an OIL filter on this little machine? Oil change intervals are super critical without an oil filter. See comments online about the "break in" period.

Firman are actually known to be noisy vs. a Champion or Honda or others, so this is kinda surprising. Sure sounds o.k. and they are certainly good quality, durable and popular. Even with how noisy Firman are compared to those other very quiet brands, this isn't as bad as a smaller sized and wattage Pulsar dual fuel, which in one guy's video was quite noisy and noisier than this Firman for sure. It was drowning out his voice, and the only escape was into the trailer and you could still hear it and that's just a 2200 watt one. Love the styling on this one, it's sharp looking.

@jonsmith2217
@jonsmith2217 4 жыл бұрын
@@georgehuerta1990 you can parallel any two inverter generators together. even of different brands I've seen it done on KZbin. But you have to make what is called a Deadman's plug. You have to be careful using that plug someone could put a switches in the middle of the plugs to cut the power off when using this cord. But you would always have to cut the switches off before you disconnect the two plugs. The firman generator might run both of your air conditioners with the soft start Easy Airs on them. And the easy Air soft start shop is very knowledgeable. The easy air was about 330.00 for each ac.

Check out micro air easy start pages and pages of great reviews. And what some are running on the little portable Honda"s is light weight, impressive and more fuel efficient. Honda is a pretty good brand.

Happy to say I just got this generator and will order and install a high altitude carburetor jet because I live at about 5450 ft. elevation but camp mostly above 6000 where I'll be using this generator most or all of the time. It appears that Firman no longer has instructions online to install and replace the stock jet. Two questions - one easy, two are a bit convoluted; 1. Any links to instructional/tutorials to do this replacement install? I'm guessing and hoping it's not too difficult. 2. Firman has two jets available - one for 3000-6000 elevation and the other for above 6000. Which jet do I go with?? Both?? 3. Is it practical to switch out the jets as needed? Or do I just live with the one for 3000-6000 ft. elevation and put up w/ less performance while camping at the higher elevations?

So, to try and help people decide on what might be a good generator for them, I have a H07552 Firman Generator which is their big dual fuel 9,400 starting watts generator. I live full time in my fifth wheel and this is my first generator. But, I picked it up at Costco for $500 on sale, I think it's normally $700 there. Being it's summer time and even in Montana it gets hot the past couple weeks I've been running it 15-16 hours a day straight during the work week, and when I say straight I mean straight I don't even shut it off to refuel I just pour more gas in it (Probably not safe, but ohwell) and even being 98 degrees outside it's never shut off or died on me yet (knock on wood). I've had it for about 2 months now, maybe 2 1/2 months and I've put 630+ hours on it so far and it keeps climbing everyday. I haven't done anything to it but give it gas and use Amsoil small engine oil every 100 hours like it recommends to do. Now, my only complaints is it wont run both my 13,500 BTU ac's. Which maybe I'm asking too much for it to do that but I use the 50 amp plug on the generator into my fifth wheel so it should have plenty of 'cordage' to send that amount of power. Although, the previous owner installed a Surge Protector in the camper and I'm wondering if when the 2nd ac kicks on if the generator is trying to send too much power (spiking) and tripping the surge protector. Because when it 'trips' the power the generator is still running and everything but the power gets cut off until the surge protector turns back on. So I'm not sure what's up with that, maybe I need a bypass setup for the larger breakers that the AC's run on and then use the surge protector for the plugs ins and lights so they can run electronics like my computer and Tv's. Anyway, I'm getting off topic. It seems to run pretty good and just keeps going. If anyone in the future from now (Do you have flying cars yet? That'd be cool) want to drop a response I'll update how many hours are on the generator and if there's been any other issues. I put 200-300 hours on it a month so far so it's going to keep climbing until it just blows up on me. I just hope it runs for like 5k hours and then I can write a really nice review for Firman and they send me a free one to 'test out' (hey JD, get me a sponsorship will you? lol). If someone wants to sponsor my fuel costs too that'd be great and I'd run it 24 hours a day if you did that and we'd see how long it goes for lol. Anyway, hopefully this helps someone decide what generator they want, if you have any questions let me know and I'll try to answer them.

Hi, I'm debating between two Firman dual fuel models. The 7552 and 3651 pretty much the same but the 3651 has gas starting watts 4550 and running watts 3650. On LP 4100 starting and 3300 running watts. I have a RV with 30amp service with one 13,500btu a/c. I'd like to be able to run microwave and a/c at the same time. Which model do you suggest?
@dedalliance1
@dedalliance1 4 жыл бұрын
@@thomasgriffith3747 Honestly, you might need something bigger than a 3.6/4.5k watt generator if you want to run a microwave and AC at the same time. Depends on the size of the microwave. But either way it's not really a bad to just shut the AC off for a couple minutes while the Microwave is running, because you probably won't use it for a more than a couple minutes at a time I would expect, that's what I have to do with my AC and Microwave else I risk tripping the power and then I have to wait a couple minutes for it to come back on and it's just annoying. But that might be my surge protector installed in the camper, and not the generators fault. The bigger the generator typically the least efficient it will be as far as fuel consumption, so long term if you can save money by sticking with the smaller generator and not running a lot of things at the same time the better, in my opinion. I think Firman's a good bang for your buck, at least with the generator I got, maybe I just got lucky. But mine's at 1,100 hours now after 5 months or so, maybe 4 months. But I live in Montana and last night it dropped to the low 20's and snowed a couple inches and my generator was outside by the camper off all night and was covered in snow but when I went to start it up in the morning it fired right up no problem. Which it should, because it's still a pretty new generator but it just shows the initial quality is good and I think long term it will hold up. Whatever you get just get quality oil for it, I've ran Amsoil and it's doing good. I can't say one way or another if the generators you're looking at will run both your AC and Microwave in your specific setup, but I would say the one's you're looking at is probably the smallest you want to go.

@@dedalliance1 yeah, I'm really torn. I can the 7552 for $450 and the 3651 for $325. Somthing else I was trying to understand is which would be more fuel efficient, the larger generator running at 50% load or the smaller generator running at full load?
@dedalliance1
@dedalliance1 4 жыл бұрын
@@thomasgriffith3747 That's a good question on the load running question. I'd say it's always better to just get the biggest you can afford, because if you think about it this way, lets say this generator last 5 to 10 years for you, by then you might get a bigger camper that needs more power. And also, if you ever lost power at your house you can drag it out and run your fridge and freezer and some small appliances or heaters or something if you needed to. Really, $450's a pretty good deal on a generator, you can't even buy one of that size and functions at Harbor freight for that price.

Wow that"s alot of generator it should run both AC"s after the easy start micro air unit or units. And when installed after AC running AC doesn"t make the big thud noise when AC compressor kicks in. Get the micro air easy start on one ac or both. I watched them installed on a RV rooftop AC running a 2000 watt Honda on propane. I"m off grid too I keep smaller generators run longer and burn less fuel. Read my comments above under Ze Dee or John Smith. Can always parallel two small inverter generators. What is better than one generator? Two generators.

I opted to get the gas powered version due to the amount of propane I'd use to get the same energy as gasoline. One propane tank (20 lbs) lasting 4 hours compared to 20 liters of gas lasing 15 hours. To use propane one would have to bring many more or much larger propane bottles.

Most small engine manufacturers recommend using the slightly more energetic non-ethanol gasoline, are the power numbers dependent on the kind of gas used? An advantage you did not mention for dual fuel is for those in the hurricane belt it is often easier to get propane tanks with a storm approaching, after it hits, and they offer a safer, easier long term storage option than plastic jugs of gas.

@@LordFalconsword I'll say this. I have a Firman H07552 I think like 9,400 starting watts on gas and 8750 running and 6750 running on propane, or something like that. I got it at Costco when it was onsale for $500, normally $700 I believe. I live full time in my Fifth wheel so I use it everyday and have had it for almost 2 months now but I've already racked up 630 hours on it so far and it's still going and the only thing I've done to it is change the oil, I do need to check the spark plugs though lol. I'm kind of disappointed in the performance though, being such a large generator I'd expect it to run both of my 13,500 BTU ac's but it'll only run 1 of them at a time. And sometimes you can run the AC and the Microwave and Fridge and light and my desktop at the same time, but the microwave will sometimes set it off and I lose power. Now, I'm not sure if it's the Generators fault or if it's my surge protector not liking the generators power output. The guy who I bought my fifth wheel from put in this surge protector to protect the camper (obviously) but maybe for some reason when something kicks on the generator surges too much power and that trips the surge protector? It's never happened on shore power though, or maybe I just got a sensitive generator. But the main point was, I've put 630 hours on the generator so far will no real issues, and I've ran it 15-16 hours straight everyday in high 90's temps for like 2 weeks now and it's not once overheated or shut off. I wanted the Champion one though like you, the big 9k watt one from Costco but they didn't carry it at the Costco I went to so I had to get the Firman one, but so far I really can't complain, it may not power everything but it seems to keep running and that's the most important part.
