Sadly yes it’s not discussed enough I found this out the hard way trying to shoot a night match

Gonna jump on the band wagon and say thank you for this review as well. I was thinking of getting one of these for my home defense gun, but I don't think I'd be able to pick up the reticle if using a weapon light. Saved me some cash and headache.
@krysis81154 жыл бұрын
Really if you're in a dark room aiming into a lit room you can just rely on your irons if you cant pick u on the dot. I'm gonna be using mine on my EDC pistol (FN509/no weapon light). If there's a bump in the night ill be grabbing my AR pistol very single time. Great review.
@LFDResearch4 жыл бұрын
That’s what I ended up doing when I found this out in the match but the men’s tint on this made it far more Difficult to make out the front sight. If you get a Chance to shoot it at night take it there is nothing like actual practice

I will say that when you are aiming from a dark room to a lighted room, it is so crucial to have sights that are co-witnessed. Technology fails at some point which means you have to have back up sights. Just my two cents...but ultimately this all comes down to the user’s preference.
@LFDResearch4 жыл бұрын
Agreeded co witness sights are key
@Fullyautomagic3 жыл бұрын
The sights don’t have to be cowitnessed to be accurate
@wsz5942 жыл бұрын
@@Fullyautomagic lol Of course they do. You want the the red dot to be spot on the front sight when lining up the irons. If its not then either the red dot isnt zeroed or the irons arent.
@CL9PL2 жыл бұрын
That couldn't be any more wrong. You don't zero your dot to your irons.
@ryebread1052 жыл бұрын
@@CL9PL ok. Good luck with that

Damn thanks for the great unbiased review! I know now that a RMR will not work for me because of that lighting issue where the dot almost dissapears being in the dark looking into a lot room. No bueno! At least on the RMR models with auto adjust. Also that lens tint is RIDICULOUS! Way too dark for serious work.
@LFDResearch6 жыл бұрын
Indeed that is only on the dual illumination model the electronic rmr’s are fine
@Chris09978 Жыл бұрын
So apparently I just found out what this rmr really is, they are taking of what trijicon is really known their ACOG series and put all of that into the rmr, it’s doesn’t required batteries like you ARCO or your standard rmr, it uses the fiber optics to illuminate the optic to see the reticle this for day light, now dependent on the lighting conditions you are in a very very dark room or whatever the environment you are in the the tritium will do it’s best to illuminate the optic. Pretty genius idea if you ask me
@LFDResearch Жыл бұрын
On paper it’s a great idea sadly in practice not as much at night if you flip on a wml you have no dot and have to swap to irons. There were one or 2 other lighting conditions that could cause issues but that was the biggest
@Chris09978 Жыл бұрын
@@LFDResearch looks like I’m gonna have to save up on that ACRO then lol
@JoseOrtiz-xh6he Жыл бұрын
@@LFDResearchthe reason why it works so great on the acog is because the acog has an etched reticle built in
@mattclark1429Ай бұрын
Quite illuminating. Sucks that the sight that will last 20 plus years in the dark is too dim to work in light transition.
@LFDResearchАй бұрын
Sadly with all the work I have done in the dark it’s very arguable wether it would work in the dark or not as any dark usage would involve a light and other than at distance it will be almost impossible to see the dot unless your target is 20 yards away or more
@GunBigotHater4 жыл бұрын
I’m told that the dual illumination RMR washes out it you light a flashlight. What was the non-RMR sight you showed?
@LFDResearch4 жыл бұрын
That was a fast fire 3 any led based red dot will perform similarly
@elephantcheeze3 жыл бұрын
it does, the one on my patrol rifle washes out as soon as I hit my weapon light. Not ideal but my LPVO is the nx8 so I use the 1x on that if need be. This model is really only good for a backup day sight if you have a min 1-x LPVO
@Cman24954 жыл бұрын
I own the RM04 model with the 7 MOA amber dot and it performs better than what is shown here. Highly recommend!

@@LFDResearch No need, that's what my G34 with the Holosun 509T is for! The RM04 works great on my G19 and I have no regrets (Jagerwerks installed my Amerigo suppressor height sights with tritium inserts). I watched both your reviews and appreciate them both. I got to use an Rm04 Amber at the range and it was fantastic. What I'm curious about with these fiber optic sights is would they show up well with a hand held light used in the off hand by the forehead which would illuminate the pistol from the rear? I have some handguns that don't have a rail, and that's how I use them with a light in the dark.

@@LFDResearch these type of optics are not meant for room clearing situations they are made for home defense or concealed carry type scenarios where your are hidden and let them come to you (you should never be doing room clearing during a break in stay where you are and let them come to you) or if you’re out somewhere while concealed carrying and are engaged both of you are in the same settings very rarely if any time will you be in a self defense situation where you are in a low light area and your target is in a well lit area if you’re doing room clearing you need to have an optic that works well with night vision or low light settings

Only video on the internet actually showing it. I’d imagine the issue is exacerbated by a weapon light. Cool idea cause it doesn’t need batteries. But feel like Trijicon missed the mark on this.
@LFDResearch5 ай бұрын
Yes a weapon light makes it worse at short distance at long 30+ yards it may be fine in the dark with a weapon light. A fixed power dot in that scenario can overpower what light your using to see the target making a bright dot on the Lens but you can’t see anything other than black in the lens at that point leaving your only option being binden (goes back to original red dot sights where your brain composites the image allowing you to aim)
@Captured-On-Camera-Reviewer5 жыл бұрын
Would a mounted light on your pistol correct the dark into a light room. Have you tried that?
@LFDResearch5 жыл бұрын
No it makes the issue worse the light has to come into the fiber optic from the top or sides so using a weapon mounted light you will have essentially no sight other than irons

+Michael Frazier possibly I have to keep working with different red dot models. I can say that what is shown in this video is the totality of the down sides of this sight I have found after a few thousand rounds and everyday use over 6 months.

I was aware of the limitations of this optic. Only reason I just got it is because I found a pimped Glock 26 with a gold slide and stainless ported barrel for $480.....including the optic.

@@LFDResearch the Tritium is still crazy strong. From my understanding, the slides only started being made about a year ago. So I got a ways on the Tritium. Internals look like very low round count.

Good demo. How well does this DI version work at an indoor range? Granted, they won't all have the same lighting but any feedback is useful.
@LFDResearch4 жыл бұрын
It’s ok as long as you have overhead light where the pistol is at
@SJones-oi2wb2 жыл бұрын
While I understand aiming from a dark room into a lit room doesn’t work well it was designed that way because in a real life self defense scenario when would your target be in a lit area when you’re in a dark area and as far as the parallax (where the dot moves when you move you’re head or camera for this instance) the dot is not moving off target just the angle from where you see the target the same thing will happen with iron sights the sights don’t move the target doesn’t move point of impact doesn’t move just your perspective becuse you’re not in line with the sights
@LFDResearch2 жыл бұрын
One thing to keep in mind the dark into light is a major issue when shooting at night particularly when you have a flashlight in your pocket or wml. I found this out the hard way when attempting to use it in a night match

@CG-ld6xg4 жыл бұрын
Is it distracting to you? Does it make targets harder to pick up when everything has a purple hue?
@LFDResearch4 жыл бұрын
It does make it more difficult to find your target or iron sights in low light conditions and if you have a bunch of green stuff behind you lit by the sun you will also have a large number of false green dots reflecting off it while you try to figure out what one is your aim point
@CG-ld6xg4 жыл бұрын
@@LFDResearch for battery powered optics, I much prefer green dots because they are far easier to see. With fibre/tritium optics, I'm guessing you would reccomend red dot then because of those issues?

@LFDResearch Жыл бұрын
I totally understand feeling that way I have encountered a few sceneries during training where I can now see this as a decent option when you going with a light at extended range the dot really needs to dim down or it will completely obscure anything through the optic being seen. I think the new rmr with the forward facing ambient light detector may be the best option as it will get a ton of light splash back
