@Vids Tube Hi, I am a power user. I run my work issued laptop for 8 or 12 hours a day. As a work laptop im on a network which is sheilded meaning I cannot install drivers or software. I already have a 24 inch monitor attached through the hdmi port. I would love to attach a second monitor and maybe have a large two screen set up or use all three. Your great video does not mention having to install drivers. Does the fact I have HDMI already installed mean it will detect the installed drivers automatically please or is there still a requirement to download them?

Very helpful video. Is it possible to use this setup with laptop closed (with wireless keyboard and mouse)? I'm able to operate my Mac laptop with additional a separate monitor, wireless keyboard and tracking pad with the Mac laptop closed. Hi bro, I have a few questions. I am not a techie. Can you list down a few points that I should tick to achieve the following using a Type-c port. Until I saw your video I didn't realise that USB 3.0 ports can project videos. You can also probably make a separate video to clarify all small points like these. 1. what should we look for when choosing a hub with type-c port to make sure I can project 4k videos to the monitor? 2. Are there monitors with usb-3.0 ports or type-c ports (like viewsonic) which we can connect directly using usb-3 or type-c cable. 3. Can all type-c ports / USB 3.0 are capable to project 4K, what should we look for when we check the specs. 4. I have come across a few from UGREEN brand, but was not very confident how to select these. I prefer to have one HDMI or DP port, at least 2 usb-c and 2 USB 3.0 and a SD card slot. 5. If we have just USB 3.0 port on the hub and if we connect type-c converter to it - will the video output be downgraded compared to taking directly from a type-c out? Also I see you connecting a USB 3 to hdmi converter, will this be downgraded coming out of USB 3 compared to directly taking out from hdmi port? So my situation is sort of unique. I have a mini pc (with no external monitor) and a Lenovo ThinkPad that has a USB type C that works for data transfer and charging, a 3.1 USB type A port and a 2.0 USB type C port. My usb-c port adapter wasn't working yesterday with the second monitor I purchased since my ASUS vivobook only has 1 hdmi input. I have 2 monitors like you but only one of them works for my laptop. I ordered a usb-c hub - ( docking station ) , ( dual monitor 9 in 1 combo ) I really hope it works when it comes in from Amazon. Thanks for watching and comment. A USB 3.1 can go up to 5 GBps A USB 3.1 GEN two can go to 10 and a thunderbolt can go to 40. Thunderbolt 3 has enough bandwidth to support multiple 4K video connections with higher refresh rate, with enough bandwidth remaining for USB 3.1 data too. So typically a laptop with a thunderbolt type connection will be the best for higher Hz display but if you have a USB 3.1 GEN 2 it has specific lanes dedicated for a display port at higher Hz output. So for a 144 Hz output you have to have a display port connection versus an HDMI. Hope this makes sense. No matter what cable, adapter or dongal you go go with display port or thunderbolt connecting for higher refresh rate monitor. Hope this helps. For 1080p 144Hz you will need an HDMI 1.3 or higher, a Dual-Link DVI, or a DisplayPort while 1440p 144Hz requires either an HDMI 2.0 or a DisplayPort 1.2. with the cable you mentioned I think it should work. Hello, I have a Prostar nh58rdq laptop with USB-C and bought a Tiergrade Laptop Docking Station, 16-in-1 Triple Display USB C Hub for Windows. It won't show anything on the display and the instructions say it may be because the laptop doesn't have Thunderbolt 3? I don't understand because the amazon instructions say Thunderbolt 3 OR USB-C with display port capabilities. My laptop specs shows "DisplayPort 1.3 over USB 3.1 Gen 2 (Type-C)". Shouldn't this work? Do you recommend a docking station where I can run 2 additional monitors, usb, ethernet, etc.?

So you have one monitor with vga post connected to your laptop via vga to hdmi and if you have another left over hdmi port on your laptop 2nd monitor goes into that if not you can either get usb to hdmi like this amzn.to/3ildAfQ or usb c to hdmi like this amzn.to/37NJyj5 depending on what you have available on your laptop hope this helps. I think you can use a HDMI splitter which would go in your laptop, then you can plug the monitors into the split units. This should project your laptop display to the monitors. That's how I think it should work anyways.

Most of the adapters which has both HDMI and VGA can only duplicate they cannot extend and that is why I did this video to show how to have an extended View. All the adapters that have dual display extended option will be very expensive.

@@NideshKumaresan That is fine bro. If your laptop has any HDMI or VGA port the first monitor must be connected via it. If you laptop has only 1 usb type c port like my laptop then yes you can get 1 usb c to x 4 usb 3.0 adapter & get one usb to vga & other usb to hdmi & it will work. Just check the details before you buy any adapters :)

Hey there! I have a Lenovo Y520 laptop, an HP G5 USB-C docking station. I wish to connect 2 Samsung monitors to the laptop through my docking station. So I plugged the monitors into the docking station, and then with one cable I want to connect it to my laptop. Since my laptop doesn't have a USB-C, I bought a USB-C to USB 3.1 adapter. However when I plug it in, nothing happens, the monitors aren't shared. I also have a Lenovo Thinkpad T590, it has USB-C port (for charging), it works with that one. Do you have any idea what the problem might be? Thank you!

Thanks for watching and comment. I think its because of the usb c to usb 3.1 cable you need to get a hub with usb 3.1 so you directly plug it in your laptop. If your laptop has hdmi 1st monitor should always go though that. My laptop has an HDMI port so I’ve plugged one of my cables into that to create the first display. I bought a USB C hub so that I could plug the second HDMI into that for the second display. However my laptop doesn’t have a USB C port so I bought a USB C to USB to compromise this. The problem is when plugging the HDMI cable into the hub and monitor it doesn’t seem to detect the monitor? At first I thought the hub was broken but that doesn’t seem to be the case as when I plug my keyboard into the hub it works fine. Sorry for long winded comment but could really use some help on what I’m doing wrong if it all? Thanks. Informative video none the less.

@@vidstube Hello, so my USB to HDMI came today and I plugged it in and installed the drivers it asked me to do. Restarted my laptop and then attempted to plug one monitor into that usb to hdmi as a test. Unfortunately, the monitor is still not being recognised and just going into sleep mode once I plug it in. Any ideas on what still could be wrong? I'm sure my laptop must be capable of dual monitor display as it is relatively new and quite powerful

Hmm thats strange. I dont think so its your laptop most laptop are able to done one or two monitor for sure may be not at the best resolution. It could be your monitor or cable. @@vidstube Watched your setting video and still no luck :( I cannot change any settings in that video as the laptop is not detecting the monitor in the first place. It is a very bizarre situation. I am using the same USB to HDMI you recommended from Amazon and both of my monitors are HP 27". As I said one monitor works fine but the issue is getting the second monitor to be detected. :(

Ok. It seems to work flawlessly for you and everybody else but my third monitor being recognized but is still black. There is a third monitor in the display settings but the third shows an orange light (as opposed to blue) and is dark telling me that no signal is being sent. Do you have any other advice?

@@vidstube both cables are working. I just had them both plugged into my macbook with no issue. When I shut my dell, the two displays come up and seem to work fine. When i click identify the left one has switched to 1 (where the laptop display used to be 1) but the right display doesn't show any number. Both displays are independent which is good. Still, what could be going on?

Hi! I have a very similar laptop and an identical asus adapter. I know how to connect everything but my laptop does not charge through that adapter. It will only charge with the cord plugged directly into it making it so I cannot add monitors or anything to the port if I want it to charge. Any ideas or suggestions? @vids tube
