I run a dual ultimate set up (2.28 front case, 4.7 rear case) and love it. Best money spent hands down on mods short of a selectable locker. I can run single low 2.28 or double low 4.7 or tripple low 10.716 . Just through the transfer case. This is essentially a 4 speed transfer case. Hi range and 3 low range gears. Only thing I wish I could source/find would be a 2.9-3.5 gear set some where In That range so single low isn't too slow but the tripple low gets nutty.

I’m not much of a mechanic but I love the solid axle pickups. I used to have an 84xtra cab that I never should have sold and recently picked up an 85 22r that I’m loving so far but still getting a feel for it as it’s more heavily modified than my 84. My question is about gearing vs crawl box. I use my pickup as a feed truck on a W Montana ranch that gets a lot of snow. As far as I can tell it’s currently stock gearing, and it’s on 35x12.5 with a six inch lift. I put it in 4low and let it crawl while I pitch hay from the back. The gearing and larger tires make it too fast in 1st gear 4low. In terms of what will be easier on the truck and also easier to complete would you change to 5.29s or install a crawl box? Found your channel when I picked up the 85 and am really enjoying it. Thanks
@DirtGarage Жыл бұрын
Question is how does it feel on the highway? I kept my axle ratio stock because with the 37s and V8 it feels great and would not benefit from lower gears. To best place to re gear is in t cases, because t case gears don't effect road driving, and provide a much lower ratio than just re geared diffs would.
@jsutton9142 Жыл бұрын
Good info, thank you. She may never see the highway again. Just want to make a snow beast ranch truck. My plan is to hopefully find a decent condition stock xtra cab RE and go with 2 to 3 inch lift and 33s for a daily driver.

Hey bud! Love this video. Hey question: You quickly showed your dual case setup with triple sticks. I currently have a single case with dual sticks, and I want to add a second case. What I'm still trying to figure out in my head is how you were able to get both of your t-case sticks right next to each other in your cab? The architecture of the dual cases means that the second case's stick is set behind the front case's stick....But you managed to get them right next to each other. Can you explain? Thanks mate! From one vintage Yota fanatic to the next, I love your channel!
@DirtGarage4 жыл бұрын
I am running a custom made triple sticks setup on my duals. The rear case has twin sticks, but the top of the sticks are chopped off, then used small linkages attaching the rear twin sticks to a set of sticks mounted on either side of the front shifter. If you look up Radesigns triple sticks it is essentially like that.
