Great review/comparison, Paul. It would be so fun to try these scooters because they're so different from what other companies are doing. I've only ever owned the Dualtron MINI... which was oddly named and had enough stem flex to last me a lifetime.

Thanks so much! Yeah, we still have the first Mini and I can't get over how not small it is when folded! Surprisingly fast top speed though. Super weird choice of materials that they used to have plastic front wheels! I was shocked how quick the Mini Special was! @billgangsta5395 ай бұрын
@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide Yes i really thing it does! Tho i bet it gets loose again over time and use but if you keep things nice and tight with some oil-greese thing on there i bet it does not move. It should be fine from the factory like the brakes are but its not thats why most scoot companies "set those up" before you buy them so nothing is loose the first time you ride it and that always leaves a bad impression on the rider.

That’s a great question. It really just depends on the specs that are most important to you. Scooters go fast enough for the rotors to warp and bend?!? At that point i'd be far more worried about brake fade where your drum brakes just stop working.
@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide5 ай бұрын
They can warp from heat, but mostly bend from getting smacked around. The rotors have very little mass to hold all of the heat from stopping. Check out the smoke in this shot. I think there must have been a rust-proofing layer that's getting cooked off here. kzbin.info/www/bejne/gIm2oJWYoKmWaNUsi=mPHFrCLa01pxURQf&t=604 Good point about fade. I've never specifically gone out looking for it, but I've felt more fade from scooters with disc brakes than from drums, maybe because drums have a lot more thermal mass. The reason it's not apples to apples though is most of the very large very fast scooters have discs. Great idea though. I should test an Apollo Pro back to back with a Thunder 2 for 5 hard stops from like 40 mph and see the difference between stop #1 and stop #5. -Paul

@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide5 ай бұрын
They've got their cardboard game down. Gotrax is getting really good at cardboard too. It's a lot easier for us to dispose of because the recycling bin at ESG always has more room than the garbage and styrofoam has to go in the garbage. Styrofoam is great at absorbing a ton of impact one time because it stays deformed and doesn't bounce the energy back into the scooter. But it means it doesn't work that well on the second hit. Dualtron continues to be such an odd blend. The "old guard" largely ignoring the design and engineering trends of the contemporary scooter world, with unique folding hinges, rehashed throttle/displays, "talking" motors & one-off handlebar picks. On the other end of the spectrum someone there is looking at trends because they think app dependency and girder front ends are what people are looking for. So they have taken some cues but maybe not the one's most of us want them to. The decks look great on the Togo and Pop and I don't really see any stem mechanism flex. The folding bars on the Pop however, while tolerable on my old T-handle Cruiser S, are not an ideal pick for a newly designed scooter. At 72lbs, I'm not sure why they thought it needed folding bars. Once again, the trend is away from folding bars, even on ultra-lightweights like the KQI Air.

Any thoughts on these scooters overall, im looking for the best speed i can get for the money. I use it as a mix of commuting to work and for fun, but i have alot of speed bumps and so on to get to work and i have to pass lots of construction sites so supension and non tubed tyres is also a big consideration. Ideally, dualtron with its price and top speed is good. it just sucks its tubed tyres Im considering scooters under $1500 aud mostly 40klm/h top speed roughly for these ones: Looking at kugoo m4 pro $1400 aud, emove touring $950 aud on special, kaboo sky 10c $1300 on special, kaboo sky 8s $1200 on special, dualtron popular $1400 54klm top speed(probably highest for the money) Yume swift $1440 aud on special 50klm top speed as well Voltrium ion max (au brand, very good quality from what I understand) $1600 aud 45klm top speed Zero 9 $1200 aud 45klm top speed

Pop would be the clear winner if it didn't weigh so much more than the Mini.

These only seem good MAYBE for general beginners - seems to me like they rescrambled old technology and slapped on new control screens and outer design BUT I DONT REALLY SEE ANY REAL VALUE FOR ANYONE EXPERIENCED IN SCOOTER RIDING !?

Those are great scooters, especially if you don't have stairs. I keep wondering if they're going to update them or cancel them. It feels like they have been running close-out type pricing on them for a long time. -Paul

Still using the crap finger throttle. If they change this a lot of people would look at them.
@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide5 ай бұрын
Is it the throttle response, the quality of materials or the type of throttle? I prefer thumb throttles myself, but feel like the triggers on the Togo and Popular work really well for what they are. -Paul

"Appliance apps" suck because they go stale, your phone gets updates, and then the app doesn't work because they never update the app, and then you can't adjust your appliance ... I freaking HATE devices that require phone apps.
@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide5 ай бұрын
The good news is that Dualtron is going to stick around for a long time and one app supports all of their scooters so they keep updating it. But yeah, I want to be able to control everything directly even if I need to decode it with a manual. -Paul

If people think that a 1300$ is affordable there is a problem with you. The market has gone completely mad, people consider half a months wage or even a full month salary as affordable, you’re out of your minds. In France 1300€ is a full month salary, it’s not affordable at all, especially given this is a “scooter”, is highly susceptible for theft, has almost no security compared to a bike and you can’t ride this thing in all kinds of weathers so yeah, the more I’m checking about these e vehicles the more I’m just thinking about a bike, these scooters are a joke, totally overpriced
