Dubai SHOCKING reason why man made islands are still empty

Located about 2.5 miles from the coast of Dubai are the World Islands. These islands are small islands intended to represent a mini-World. Every small island represented a country in the world and was named after it. The island was designed to feature several luxurious houses and resorts.
The project was announced in 2003. But today, about 20 years after the completion of these islands, they lie empty. What happened here?

Dubai did NOT take enough interest in how building these islands would impact the surrounding waters. They just wanted money fast ! Monaco has bent over backwards to make sure they do as little disturbance to the surrounding waters, sea creatures and water flow as possible. They are doing it the right way and they are NOT rushing it. They also took into account the rising seas.

Let's think about this: If it's true that the Islands sink by about 5mm each year, then that is 1cm every 2 years. That is 10 cm in 20 years and thus 1 meter in 200 years. Now, 1 meter is a lot to lose for such an island, but will it matter in 200 years time? I guess that depends on who you ask. You will certainly not buy a property on any of these Islands as an investment for your descendants, that's for sure! The fact is, these Islands are not going to last the 1000+ years that some other inland, stone structures have stood for in Europe etc... But then again, these islands where probably never intended to last that long. These days it's less about leaving a legacy and more about making the big bucks. And that is exactly what this is about, in the end.

I really wonder how much privacy these people are getting at The Palm Jumeirah. The beach front properties on the branches look so close to each other. What’s the point of having a private beach right across from other private beaches? I’m no engineer, but I have a background in architecture. That’s where these designs stem from. The engineers are there to make sure these designs work. Anyhow, the problem I see in damn near all these designs is that they’re designed from up above and not on land where most people view them. Lots of architects don’t design as if they were inhabiting these spaces. It may look good from satellite. But I don’t think the everyday function is there.

If the GFC dealt a savage blow to these projects, the impact of Covid on the economy in general and tourism in particular will hit them harder. Climate change is being taken much more seriously now too and many companies consider a responsable environmental image as essential. With islands in the Pacific and Caribbean already shrinking, I'd expect better odds on a snowball's chances in hell than on this ever coming good.

In Italy are some small ancient flooded villages which do actually attract tourists. Its not necessary to finish these projects. As soon as there is plentyfull money again in the world, these projects could be finished. That can only be the case after the WEF movement has been defeated and buried in the concrete fundaments of these new buildings for example...Looking forward to this future.

The Vice-president of the UAE 🇦🇪 HH Crown Prince Mohammad Rashid AL-Makhtoum is the best leader ever. It is from his vision that Dubai is what it is today. I can see so many properties here but the native Arab population is so small. It would be a good idea if these properties were able to lead to citizenship once sold to international buyers etc. Give outsiders a passport and watch how Dubai will grow and become populous. A populous country is also a strong country provided that each and every citizen will contribute meaningfully to that country's economic activity. The future of Dubai had great promise if only they can get people of qualifications and skills from all over the world to come settle there and to become citizens.
