Amazing video, I am binge watching all your videos, agree to information shared by your bro, we are in Abu Dhabi from quite long and will be moving to Ontario soon, You are right there is pros and cons of everything, and the taxes cannot be ignored, here we have all our salaries to ourselves and spend accordingly, I feel its all about peoples needs and priorities and as we progress in life that changes. Thanks you for sharing valuable information

This conversation needs a different presupposition: Dubai Vs Canada as a Canadian passport holder. The dynamics might change then and I have a feeling that Dubai will make a lot more sense when you consider zero taxes vs massive tax in Canada, Dubai's paid healthcare vs. Canada's non-existent but free healthcare (and education), Safety in Dubai vs. carjackings in Ontario, etc. If you have the money, Dubai might be a better deal. In Canada, the govt. punishes you if you make more money. Don't think Dubai is the best option out there but having invested 11 years in Canada, I can see the flaws in this country very clearly.

This. We have been paying 50% of our taxes. We pulled our kid out of school because they rather teach them to be gay or genderless than actual education. There’s racism and it’s not safe as it used to be. Healthcare is shit. I have gone to an ER with a baby twice in a year and sat for 10 hours just to be seen. I almost died twice in surgeries due to credit valley hospital’s negligence.

Your friend makes UAE sound like a Paradise on earth. Being a uae bred girl,, I would like to share some more insights on uae life perhaps which you missed. 1- citizenship: I have spent my whole life here, so have my parents. But we still are outsiders. It’s quite frustrating after so many years that even after giving so much to this country n loving it ( more than my own) I’m still not remotely equal to the locals here. Pay scale is also heavily biased. I hav a local friend who works as a data entry official and gets paid 30k or so whereas an Indian would be paid only 2k for that job. 2- school education is free in Canada whereas in Dxb we have to pay . Year by year fees just get higher n higher. Public schools r only for Arabic speakers as the curriculum is completely in Arabic. 3- Racism is rampant, i know Arabic and have spent enough time with my Arab friends to understand that they do consider Indian counterparts as lesser beings. 4- most universities here are not accredited by the ministry of education. There are more than n hundred unis in uae. Only 10% are recognized by the authorities here including reputed colleges like middlesex university or manipal academy etc. After shelling out four times the college fee n completing my BSC here I got to know that my degree is accepted all over the world EXCEPT UAE. What the hell? Why would you allow campuses to run on your soil , when you don’t even accredit the courses? If I were to do the same course in the same university in India they accept the degree. 5- work life balance. Many people who work in dxb leave the houses at around 5/6 am . YES! It’s true. The rent in dubai is high. A LOT of people who work in dxb live in neighboring Emirates like Sharjah or Ajman to save on rent. The traffic is BAD. People spend 2-3 hours commuting to and from work. Even schools start fairly early. I am a teacher n I sign in at 6:40 am! The first lesson starts at 7:00 am. The kids in my school n most schools board their buses at 5:30 am etc. that’s too early right? They get dropped off at 3:30/ 4 pm . Kids are dead tired when they get back. This is true for MOST schools here. As schools are located far away from residential areas. Hence the people commuting to work and school buses are at each others necks EVERY SINGLE MORNING!! Unless you have a SOLID high paying job ( which clearly your friend does .. Maa sha Allah) the Dxb vs Canada battle may not always have a clear winner. With the perspective of kids , I think Canada would be a good option in terms to education and equal opportunities. ( my sis lives in Canada , hence I know a thing or two about that place as well) He was on point for points like taxes n safety. I really don’t mean to be rude ,, Best wishes to u n your bro

1. Yes I agree. It’s quite frustrating to live with the feeling of uncertainty. I did cover that n in my next video about cost of living in dubai. 2. School education is free in Canada but I personally feel it’s not upto the mark. I mean it’s debatable since my concept about school education is more of curriculum however here they focus more on overall development. For ex my daughter who is 6 still hasn’t been taught addition or multiplication in school Vs when we were in school, we had a lot of focus on math and other subjects. 3. Racism is within different cities in India as well, so let alone be in any other country. However I have not faced any racism here in Canada thus far. Canadians are very nice and polite people, they say and I agree. 4. Most people fly to Canada for higher education and I like to believe it’s only because they get long term visa. I am not sure how the education is otherwise. 5. Oops, that’s way too early and I can understand. Me sister in law is also a teacher in dubai and I know how erratic her schedule is. Here, since there is no house help, all the personal time you get is spent in doing household chores which is crazy. Mowing the lawn, shovelling the snow, stacking the dishes in the dishwasher and what not. 6. Schools are very close to wah neighborhood, so that’s a plus. Here they believe the culture of walking to school. I have made a video about this on my channel too in the past. Do check it out if you’d like to. 7. Rents are crazy all over the world lol. I truly value you taking the time out to watch the video and then leaving a comment/feedback. I did not take it rudely even a bit. I greatly appreciate all your points and you time which I truly value! :)

Dubai is always there but Canada is not. I mean to say that first get the PR, citizenship/passport there in Canada and go wherever you want to go, Dubai or Singapore or USA. But, once time wasted in Dubai, you will be left with only money and back to India.
@hitfitnagpal
@hitfitnagpal 5 ай бұрын
I know what you are saying and I completely agree with your thought process.. Most people have the same thought process that once you get Canada citizenship, you can always come back here if you loose your job in Dubai, however if you just live and work in Dubai on Indian passport, you will have to go back to India if you loose your job in Dubai. Hence most people move to Dubai after their Canadian citizenship

Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts on this highly debatable topic. This is such an informative and insightful video. Would also love to hear about employment opportunities in Dubai and experience of securing a job and salary comparison on similar jobs. Also curious about healthcare and children’s education comparison.
@hitfitnagpal
@hitfitnagpal 11 ай бұрын
Thank you, glad you found this useful. Great points - 1. Employment opportunities are ample in the field of sales and services, however very little IT opportunities. IT is coming up and will be booming in a few years to come. Teaching has good scope and requirement too. 2. Honestly, LinkedIn is the best bet. My brother found a job his LinkedIn as well. 3. Salary is quite a thing in dubai and is completely based on the kind of passport one holds. Someone with a Canadian passport could be paid twice or thrice than someone who holds Indian passport. Having said that, I have observed that salary is on par with salary after taxes in canada, if not more. What makes it even more interesting is the cost of living is a whole lot cheaper than Canada which makes up for the difference in salary, if any. 3. Healthcare is paid by the consumer and hence one gets timely appointments :) 4. Education - one has a variety of options to choose from such as what board do they want to enrol the kids in. Average fees and more to follow n my next video soon. However most sought destination for higher education is always West since it opens up door for employment opportunities and settling in. Hope this helps!

Best thing about Canada is that once we get citizenship moving to USA is very easy and we dont need to discuss about the opportunity and salary in USA. For most people i still think canada is better as students can study in college and then get a job. Dubai is also good but salaries for normal people with normal degrees and basic education is just not enough. Also also PR you can call your parents to stay in Canada where even if they are not highly educated they can work in grocery stores , petrol pump and earn good amount of money.
@hitfitnagpal
@hitfitnagpal 11 ай бұрын
That’s right. For someone whose larger vision is to move to the US, Canada PR and citizenship makes a whole lot of sense. Canada offers stability Vs Dubai and I did mention that in my video too, so I agree. About jobs and salaries in Dubai, basic roles have bare minimum salary, however if you move up the ladder, you can make good amount of money as well. It depends on a lot of factors. Again, it’s absolutely upto every individual’s larger vision. 😊

In terms of nightlife are you comparing downtown Toronto to Dubai or quiet family oriented suburb of Toronto to downtown Dubai. Montreal is a one of the top ten party destinations in the world.
@hitfitnagpal
@hitfitnagpal 11 ай бұрын
The comparison was between dubai downtown and Toronto downtown. I have lived in one of the most sought after neighborhood in DT Toronto for 2 years and have seen that the city becomes quiet after 10-11pm however Dubai is lit up almost all throughout the night. I haven’t seen the night life of Montreal but I am sure it would be good! In general, the culture in the west is early dinner by 5-6pm and hit the bed by 9-10, whereas since Dubai is full of immigrants from India and neighbouring countries where the culture is late dinner, the city overall tends to adopt the culture based on the people living in. Hence my viewpoint.

No offense guys. Great video but I have lived in Dubai for many years and my parents are there since 25 years. The point that only your employer can give you visa is totally incorrect. Dubai has employer visa, freelancer visa for contract workers (I being a writer was on one), green visas for self-employed people like consultants, business visas for businessmen. They even have retirement visas for people who want to live their golden years there. Also, a new one, Golden visa, although hard to get for everyone, gives doctors, scientists, actors, performers, or any specially skilled people 10 year visa (that's double the duration of a Canadian PR). Even if you lose your job you get 6 months to find another employer to give you a new job and new visa. Even after 6 months if you can't find a job then you have a choice to take a visit visa that has validity of upto 2-5 years to continue staying in Dubai.

Dubai vs Canada video is a very insightful by your friend. But after living in Dubai for a 15 yrs, I’d like to add some points. 1. Right now in August 2023, the job market scene is not good in UAE. The salaries being offered is very low 2. You’re comparing CAD and AED to INR, which I don’t think is a right comparison. 3. The brother talked about lack of homeless people in Dubai. Yes, because if you have to be in Dubai you need to have a valid visa which is provided to you by your employer.
@hitfitnagpal

Hey, thank you for your feedback. 1. Job market is crazy all over the world except India right now. There are mass layoffs happening in so many organizations in North America. India’s economy is on the rise. 2. The comparison is only for folks in India to get better understanding because one won’t understand unless they are able to relate. Ofcourse the expenses are equally high as the salaries are outside india. 3. You could be right about that! That’s a valid point :) Thanks for sharing.

Yes I realized that a lot of people wanted to know more about education difference between Dubai and Canada. Unfortunately I missed to talk about that in the video however you are right, Dubai has a variety of options/school board to choose from whereas Canada doesn’t have that. Then only plus side about education Canada is that it’s free but the quality isn’t upto the mark (atleast from my perspective as we Indians usually tend to give higher importance to academics Vs overall personality development)

THERE ARE MORE POINTS TO BE DISCUSSED. 1) AS PER MY KNOWLEDGE YOU CAN NOT BECOME CITIZEN OF UAE IF YOU ARE AN IMMIGRANT. WHEREAS YOU HAVE AN OPTION TO GET IT IN CANADA, WHICH IS MORE IMPORTANT COZ YOU GET A STRONG PASSPORT. 2) YOU HAVE TO THINK MANYFOLD TIMES TO BUY A PROPERY IN DUBAI AS YOU HAVE RISK OF LOOSING JOB AND SO THE VISA STATUS. 3) CANADA HAS MORE REKNOWN UNIVERSITY WHICH ONE WILL DEFINITELY THINK FOR THE CHILDS. COZ THOSE WHO ARE MOVING WITH FAMILY HAVE THIS CONCERN. IN SHORT YOU GET MORE STABILITY AS COMPARED TO DUBAI IN CANADA. OFOURSE INDIA IS FAR BETTER AS IT IS OUR HOME. BUT IF WE COMPARE CANADA AND UAE, I WILL CALL CANADA BETTER MAINLY DUE TO IMMIGRATION, JOB SWITCH AND UNIVERSITY EDUCATION. MAY BE SOMEONE HAS CONTRADICTORY VIEW OF THIS AS EVERYONE HAS DIFFERENT CHOISES AND PREFERENCES.

Absolutely, there are many more points that we can add to this discussion. 1. You are correct and hence I did mention that if someone needs the feel of a permanent stay, then they should choose Canada, however if someone wants to make the big buck, then choose Dubai. 2. This is correct too and hence we spoke about this under Job satisfaction that job switching is not very popular in Dubai because they are dependent on employer to provide visa. 3. Agreed and noted! Absolutely, every person has a list of priorities and items they consider most important and their decision can be influenced based on that. I am glad you brought in more relevant points to this :)

I believe that migration isn't solely about money; it's also about achieving a better quality of life, access to healthcare, the opportunity for permanent residency and citizenship after a certain period, and, most importantly, education. why you're underselling Canada; in fact, it provides essential services like education and unemployment benefits, which are worth mentioning even if taxes are levied.

I am just sharing what I feel and it can be completely unacceptable to you or many more folks and that is totally okay! My video brings out the other side of the story. While I ll get you a reality check - Access to healthcare here is a looong wait. My wife was getting a dermatologist appointment 6 months after. Quality of life - You have "tons" of household chores to do it in every season. PR and citizenship - I agree about this with your ideology. I hope you found this video a tad bit useful! :)

@hitfitnagpal, thanks for your reply! Sending love from Pakistan. ❣️ Please consider covering these topics in a video to assist people who are considering migrating to Canada. Topics to address could include universal healthcare, the wait times involved, the education system, the social security system, Permanent Residency (PR) and nationality processes, as well as unemployment benefits and how they work. It would be helpful to explain the criteria for receiving unemployment benefits, as many people, including myself, are confused about why there are homeless people in Canada despite these benefits.

Moreover the cost of living and a lot of other factors will still be prevalent in any other city of Canada as well because it’s more so to do with the culture of North America. Haha I know most folks will still choose Canada and probably I will too.. it’s more about living in the west mindset :)

The entire conversation was from the perspective of a wealthy person and is not a fair comparison. Dubai was built on the back of cheap labor from Indian subcontinent where people are exploited and never given the right treatment or benefits and that continues till this day. In Canada and Australia everyone is equal, no one in general is poor as if you work you get enough pay to live a good life there, whereas that's not the case in Dubai as the whole City was built on the idea that it's a place for rich people and more than 80% of the residents there are just surviving. Job culture in UAE is cut-throat overall and very political. Your job satisfaction will depend on your manager and there are no rights there. Whereas in Canada everyone is treated equally, and respect is at the core of the work environment. That allows you to have a very good work life balance where you don't bring your work-related issues to home. House help once again going back to the labor laws, most of the residents can't afford house help in Dubai. For someone who is a retail assistant in Dubai he cannot afford a 2000 Dirham house helper. In Dubai people are not equal in general as that city built to serve the richest 5% residents of UAE. Taxes are debatable as we all know the world is changing and long gone are the days of UAE being oil rich country. All of the infrastructure was built off oil money in the past but now that money is nearly is gone. 5% VAT was incorporated recently and that is just the start as now corps will Pay 9% taxes so very soon people will have to pay taxes. In Canada, every infrastructure and services that citizens enjoy is there due to the tax system in place. When you pay taxes in Canada, at the end of the year you get a report that states the taxes that were paid by the resident were spent in which areas of the government or the economy which shows it's a fair economy. Cost of living once again as i have mentioned above it's all relative as it depends on who you are and what you can afford. But overall rich and poor divide in UAE is worse than in Canada as there is no poor class in Canada. The homeless in Canada is a big debate as most of them choose to not work and do drugs. Infrastructure like I said before, GCC countries exploit Labor. People are paid less than $250 a month in UAE as labor whereas in Canada a Tardie working on infrastructure projects are paid $30 an hour! The infrastructure in Canada was built on hard earned taxpayers' money whereas it was built exploiting poor people of Indian subcontinent.
@hitfitnagpal
@hitfitnagpal 2 ай бұрын
This entire conversation was only a basis to give everyone an insight of what “I THINK” about both the countries/cities. What I am about to say from here on is again what I think and by no means is to instigate or disrepect your or anyone else’s opinion! Talking about exploitation of labour, I know of many places in Canada where labourers/students are exploited by making them work for 10-12 hours a day and paying in cash. I am not sure what city are you in Canada, but I see homeless almost at every red light in every city or outside 2/5 Tim Hortons :) Job culture overall in any city or country is cut throat and is a survival of the fittest! If I were to run a business, I would also want to hire someone who is determined and committed to work for my organization and I dont think there is anything wrong with that. Bringing work related issues home is subjective to a lot of factors - the job, the role, the organization, the team, the nature of the person and his way of dealing with stress and issues. I have worked for organization where I got work related issues home so its subjective and doesnt depend on location alone. If labours are exploited in Dubai, everyone should be able to pay less and afford house help easily. I can rant about everything but it's only about some saying a glass is half full while others saying its half empty and not are usually right! :)

All are expats in middle East. So they get 30 days leave and airfare. It's not missed in canada as most of them are permanent residence. So why airfare by employer gives you in canada. Minimum wages are regulated in canada. No minimum wage in UAE so exploitation of labour or house help is easy. If you can afford. You can have maid in Canada as well. You get 5 vat on everything in UAE as well. Even Resturent put you 5% vat in uae as well. Thus guy from UAE shared his personal experience that us not valuable or resonate with all expats of UAE. So it's just 1 person experience if UAE vs canada. Not a generalised experiences. NO monthly rent is UAE compare to Canada. Plus indirect tax expats pay like housing fees. Ejari fees etc.
