Good to see Marley still doing his thing. I lived on the fourth floor and Marley lived on the second. I used to put my ear to living room wall and hear a lot of these classics being created. I finally got a chance to meet him through a friend of mine, and sat in many sessions with the juice crew. I will never forget this lifetime experience.

This song was genius, and is still a classic in my book! I remember hearing check out my melody for the 1st time and I thought it was the rappin' Duke because of the slow flow. NOT! Shan says on his video that he played the keyboard on Eric B. is president, But this shyt is still tight to me. I like the original version over the remix tho.. That's just me tho. Rakim is the best that ever done it! Thanx for the video Marley.

Appreciate this man! Long time comin'... Thanks for blessing us. True pioneer in every sense of the word 'producer'. It's funny. You hear how he spoke of 'limitations' and how it forces you to be creative and learn how to turn knobs to get certain sounds. All I can say it experiment, experiment, experiment! Yes you need good samples and but even still it's what you do with those samples that makes something dope.

Amazing person, this Marley Marl dude! 😎 He's a legend. Remember his productions from my first vinyl records as a kid. And I wholeheartedly agree on what he's saying about creativity arising from limitations - and making those 4 tracks COUNT. Rock. Nowadays, with DAWs and unlimited tracks, many producers tend to use way too many sounds and elements for their own good. We're not Wagner (the classical composer) you know;)

PeaCe! These are always inspiring and they influence me to be original, also keeping me from making that cookie cutter mud you hear today. I think the reason why music like this doesn't get made today is simply because producers just don't know the recipe. Anyway keep 'em coming, s/o to Marley Marl. I wouldn't mind seeing "Ain't No Half-Steppin'" recreated there was like 6 samples in that jawn. PeaCe!

Tell me now that " Paid in Full" isn't the best rap/hip-hop album everrr, also try to find a better hop in the before time was hip to it; a better hip hop song other than Eric B. for president. Even though Marley Marl is beyond a King of things. Rakim hits the wisdom along with it. My words are not Sorry because I still own an Atari.

Marley Just makes the art of sampling incredible. I just got back the grin of sampling listening to him explain the science behind the making of true hip hop. There's nothing like having to sit and listen to vinyl samples and placing 0.5 sec kicks, snares on a Limited 12 second SP1200. Our Culture was unique and a one time event. What fun we actually had.
