When will manufacturers cater for the Northern European market though?!….that front “mudguard” is as much use as a chocolate fire guard!….a few days on winter or rainy summer days in the UK and that radiator and undercarriage will be covered in road detritus!….looks great but when parting with ten grand of your hard earned , you want some options to protect its precious parts!!

After 3200 miles and 1 year of ownership here is my review. Its a nice bike, handles great, pulls well, brakes are brilliant, tyres are also great. plastic tank don't like it, false neutrals, starting can take 3 times especially in colder weather with full battery it wines a lot and it cuts out, in summer your leg is right there along the engine and it hits 100 degree c, rider aids are good i only really ride in touring tbh. Seats really comfy spent all day out and about 250 miles and no soreness, don't let it go under 4000 rpm cause it will chug a lot. Rode in salt and no protection and nothing ate into the bike so the finish is mint unlike my new XSR900 which went out together the same time and the sprockets chain and suspension had signs of corrosion in 3 days. Servicing can be a bit pricey and i get 50-60 mpg realistically however i don't thrash it thats a mix of riding. I personally would buy a Speed triple RS over this if i had to choose again, i got the XSR900 and its a nice machine, metal tank & smoother too but the suspension on the Ducati is way better.

I am also torn between 2022 xsr 900 and this
@gavincostin1729 Жыл бұрын
@@claudiumxg1 Make sure you test them fully for a good 60-90 minutes to see how you feel, Ducati costs a little more and has a quality about it, the smooth CP3 is fantastic, performance wise they are similar its just the way it rides as the engines are very different, under 4000 rpm the Monster chugs searching for lower gears where as the CP3 will pull smoothly, Seats comfy on the monster for 3-5 hours XSR is hard after an hour but a gel pad helps. Only you will know when you ride them, Try the new Triumph Street Triple too its an ace bike and similar money if you don't mind the bug eye front end.

@@claudiumxg1 Ive done 1700 miles now in 7/8 months, no issues tbh, did think there were some odd sounds on the clutch but checked other 2022 models and they seem the same, but 2023 tracer was silent, also i think they made a lot of changes in 2022 XSR900 even to the engine but i'm not 100% Monster no issues in 3500 miles a year old, just low revs chug and cold starting due to Euro 5 i believe, plus 100 degrees in summer and its hot on your leg, personally i would pay a bit more and get a 950 Super-sport in the pearl white nice fairing protection and its the same engine. £15k which is then Triumph 1200 Speed triple prices and i would take the triumphs 180bhp and brakes at that money. All depends on budgets tbh.

I wasn't really impressed with it. There's too much plastic, around the engine in particular. If you say the suspension is very good I will , of course defer to your great experience. Thank you for the video. You are certainly entitled to your opinion, however you literally did not make any comments about the negatives. For example, at this price point a fully adjustable suspension should be standard. You dismissed this as “unnecessary.” In addition, the M4 Brembo brakes are not the “top of the line,“ the Stylemas are. Yes, it is an awesome bike, but if compared it to something like the Street Triple RS, the suspension and brakes should be upgraded. Yes, I realize this is available with the SP, but that is at an even higher price point. You don’t come across as being objective in the video. There is always room for improvement.

Like your reviews very much Mark. I realise you only had this bike for a very short time, but you manage to give a pretty good initial impression. Also like your reviews as you are very similar dimensions to me so seeing if you fit a bike is a good guide for me. Have never really been a Ducati fan owing to my impression that they have high running costs and perhaps of their complexity come servicing, the costs will be higher perhaps more than other makes of bike? Let's face it no dealer services are cheap now! However this Monster looks a nice bike and at least worth a test ride. Certainly a serious contender in the middle weight naked group which you mention along side the Triumph Street Triple 765 RS, Yamaha MT09 SP, KTM 890 Duke R, perhaps even the new Honda Hornet? I have been thinking of possibly trading in my 1050 Speed Triple RS for one of these as they are a tiny bit lighter although my Speed Triple RS isn't that heavy and is still a blast to ride. I finally got it's gearbox rebuilt under warranty as 3rd and 4th gears failed. It has only taken a year and has been a complete nightmare to get repaired. It has really put me of the Triumph brand now, but at least my bike is working as it should be ............. This Ducati looks good, maybe I visit my local Ducati dealer and try one out? Do you think you will be reviewing the new Multistrada any time soon? I seem to recall you may have owned a couple of these in years gone by so this might sway you to review the 2023 model? Have you still got your Ninja 636 and MT09 Tracer?

I wouldn’t trust the indicators? They are so in the frame. It’s car drivers that may not see them? All the bikes I have rode over the years have had the indicators up higher.

The big problem for this bike is the Triumph 765RS which is pretty much the same price with a much higher spec.

I really liked the Monster until i saw this review. Not for me....too small, it looks like a Grom when i sat on it too quiet and seems to have lost its original character.... Im 6'2" and 90kg so maybe a Z900RS...

Not all Brembos are equal! Just try Brembo brakes on a Suzuki.

Brake fluid reservoirs stick out like dog's balls, other than that I'd just want to lick it. And ride it obviously. In small towns and not only kids would be asking me to rev it for them left and right. Very good throttle therapy. (For what conditions?) For all of them. 🏍
