Now that the engine is out of the frame of the Ducati Monster Cafe Racer project we can clean it by sand blasting, priming and painting. Used VHT Cast Iron & Satin Black.

Very cool video. You may want to consider wearing a respirator and goggles when sand blasting. Inhaling silica/blast media and air born particles from this process is very bad. Cheers!

It sure is, so much so that I decided to take a wire wheel to the frame whilst I was at it to look for any signs of weakness.

Really good videos mate! I'm restoring a Monster at the moment too. Can I ask where you go to for new parts. Specifically the intricate bits like bearings and seals and the like. I like the new cylinder caps you got for your engine. Mine are not in great nick and could do with being replaced, how'd you source them?

@forthebold

No RAL code that I'm aware of, It's a specific colour from VHT, not to say that you wouldn't be able to find an accurate RAL for it somewhere either on a search or compare on charts

@forthebold

I use VHT. Admittedly not the most durable as other options but still a viable one without the expense or time of stripping an engine down.

@forthebold
@forthebold 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks, just VHT paint. The sides are only sprayed at the moment as I'm undecided on the final colour, I want to see the engine in the frame with the body before I make that call. Those parts I can easily remove and powder coat once I'm decided.

Big little detail you can do id id to mine m750 dark. The "Ducati"'s on the Engine i painted them silver and the covers black which made to some beautiful accents. could be something nice on orange. you can do a dry clutch conversion for this models also which would be sick, www.ukmonster.co.uk/monster/showthread.php?t=37403&highlight=dry+clutch+conversion . and finish up with see through belt covers
@forthebold
@forthebold 4 жыл бұрын
Would be a nice detail. Unfortunately for my mk1 600 dry clutch conversion isn’t easy or cheap. The mk2 620 and also mk1 900 have a different set up that makes it easy.
