With the choke cable, the early Monster had the pull-button mounted on the left-side frame rail under the tank by the carbs, so you could try that. A neater solution would be to use the later Monster choke, which was a thumb lever mounted on the left bar. Have a look on the Stein-Dinse website at their parts diagrams. The part you want is 65540031A and can be had for around £25.

I did this to my 2001 M600 a long long time ago. I found that having the clip-ons underneath the top yoke was too uncomfortable, so I just moved the top yoke down slightly and fitted the clip-ons above it. It still looked great and was more comfortable. Nice work and a cool channel. Thanks for the content.

Looking good just putting my monster back together completely stripped the front end down head stock bearings shot to bits the last time they seen grease John Travolta was in it . It’s the same model and year as yours first time I’ve had a Ducati and enjoying working on it very simple to work on . Keep up the good work

Those clip-ons are giving the bike a really aggressive look and work well with your proto-tank shape. Looking forward to seeing the finished article! @@forthebold very nearly there, seat to finish, dial in the carbs a little more, give everything a final bleed, few little things for the mot. Been a little slack this last month but have a few days off for Xmas so I'm hoping to get most of it done before I go back to work.

I just fitted these clip ons, they sure are pretty snug but what concerns me is, now there are no stopper pins. (a bolt or pin to lock the clip ons in a position) Won't the constant weight we put on these clip ons while accelerating and decelerating loosen them over time and lead to a catastrophic failure during a sudden deceleration someday?

I have always found it easier to remove the bars then take the gear and just slide it off. It's just faster for me. I'm a Honda guy but have interest in this projects out come.

I know you've already made your tank, but Redmax SpeedShop make an excellent tank that sits over the top of the frame. They make the GT1000 and sport classic tank that fit!

Due to the nature of the monster frame I didn't want to go with the run of the mill straight line with a void underneath but more of an aggressive look, the fairing will compliment it and allow the frame to stand out more
