Modifying the airbox does what to the motorcycle?
@lukasled3 жыл бұрын
Did you notice that k&n filter is thinner and cover will not hold it down? I was replacing filter couple days ago and I noticed that, filter stay loose and that may cause damage to the engine. I ordered oem filter. Let me know what you think.

How did you remove the frame stickers?
@kuhndj676 жыл бұрын
Not sure why anyone would do this - for under $60 you can buy the 2017 airbox lid and all the parts required to do the job correctly. Cobbing it this way you're missing the two gaskets in the kit that seal out hot engine air (which is the most important benefit of the upgrade). If you've had the clothes off your Multi before the new lid is a bit more than a 2 hour job. The biggest issue is how fiddly the rubber air director that seals out air from behind the radiator is - you just have to keep working it until it seats (that's probably 30-45 minutes of the whole project... real PITA). The Multistrada page on the Ducati forum has the parts list (4 items) and a lot of assistance for this mod. Also... I don't recommend removing the gas cap (just asking for crap to drop into the tank), instead leave the cap tied down and with all the tank cover bolts removed you can twist the cover a little bit ccw/cw and slowly work it off the gas cap gasket. I'd also recommend a tune after any substantial engine mod but it's unlikely the lid upgrade is going to move the airflow needle enough to require a tune by itself. I'll know in a few days after I see what sort of change it makes in my Rapidbike auto-tuning map (I just installed the 17 kit on my 15) - you'll be able to see those results on the forum also.

David Kuhn Yeaapp that gas cap .. i did that mistake at first time when i replace the air filter. Don't wait for "noticeable" respond from the multi with this mod. I did notice a small better "engine working" at low revs .. and that it is what i was expecting from this.

zoUpne tks a lot. In other ideas. Really have a improvement the modification you make to the air box???
@zoUpne6 жыл бұрын
Jose Manuel RP it can breathe a little more better in low revs now .. not a noticeable mod. I have an open exhaust thats why i make it more wider opening.

I check my 17 multistrada 1200 but the inlet was already bigger from factory

Thas why i made this mode to mine .. 2017 models have this from factory! So it means that it need more air for sure.

Good video but now you have the engine leaner.....

I know that. I will try to flash a 2017 map. But the low revs are already better .. if you ride a ducati you what i mean!!
@zardportugal6 жыл бұрын
Yeah. You will need that reflash as soon as possible.

i have already flashed a racing termignoni map that comes with exhaust. i don't believe to see big diferense maybe i lose at hi revs but no prob with that.

why??

more air to engine .. all new models after 15' have that space for air.

@@zoUpne will it boost more BHP? is that why its doing it? thanks for the reply.
@zoUpne4 жыл бұрын
@@ducatitour.9990 It's not about hp .. only for the bike to run the engine better. Cause i have full termigoni system exhaust with an k&n air filter.
@CaptainBeard7146 жыл бұрын
Awesome vid man! I have the full termi system with upmap on my 2015 1200s. Been tempted for a while to order the new 2017 parts and install a new DNA or K and N air filter. With the airbox mod and aftermarket filter you think we really need a retune when we have the termi upmap already installed?? I guess the only option would be rapid bike evo.. if needed. Follow me on Instsgram! @CaptainBeard714
@zoUpne6 жыл бұрын
Thanks man. The older multis they did need a "race" air filter when you install a full termi. The DVT models not needed 100% as they told me at Ducati service .. but is not bad to have more air as you leave more air from an race axhaust. With the open airbox mod i saw a small better performance at 2000-3000 rpm .. and that is what i was waiting from that mod. For now the bike is working as it should and im very happy with it.
