the number one thing to do to get rid of the heat is to add the carbon front frame covers. once I installed those majority of the heat issues I was having disappeared and the carbon front frame covers already come with the heat shielding. I glued them on with black atv bond and they been on for over 3 years and no issues. its a must for this bike!

yeah going with carbon frame cover and full exhuast help reduce the heat quite alot the stock silencer feels like it dose heaat soak quite abit the race akra deffinitly reduce ambient heat between the legs.

Thanks for the video. Lots of fiddly work that doesn't seem overly difficult just time consuming, until you get to the point of the stripped screw heads. Knowing this going in is very important and not something I want to deal with. I think I'd probably just skip that piece once the first one strips. But I'm definitely going to order this now, appreciate the video.

I'm glad you found it useful. The bolts are almost guaranteed to strip. You might be able to use a heat gun first to break the loctite, but patience is the key to this install.

Would wrapping the section of exhaust below the seat reduce the amount of heat felt?
@MotoGarageTV Жыл бұрын
Yes, it would definitely help. I feel that with the new exhuast, it's even hotter. I'll deal with it, just because I don't feel like taking it back apart

Crazy question but what if you used two kits. Do you think that it would work even better by doubling the shielding?
@MotoGarageTV8 ай бұрын
I don't see why not. One kit definitely isn't enough.

So it didn’t really work? 😢

The bike looks so much better without those engine covers. Oh and good luck not stripping those 2.5 screws. lol

Yeah, I think I striped 3 out of the 6. It's almost a guarantee that they will strip.

If use double layer of heat shield?
@MotoGarageTV6 ай бұрын
I would think you will get twice the result of a single layer. Let me know how it turns out.

Alternatively, you can grow some balls and ride it like that saving yourself some money.

LOL.... Great advice. However, when my balls finally drop, they'll appreciate the little bit of money I spent to do this.

@Bruce Ruzbeh Right on! There's a few things I find myself doing that I wouldn't typically do, but because I'm working on something else and have things exposed, I take advantage and do things like this heat shield. If I didn't have the tank off already, I wouldn't have done this all by itself. Like I said, there's a few installs I've done under this same logic. Have a good one
