I LOVE my Supersport S, it has plenty of low and mid range torque that makes it so fun on the street. People get way too wrapped up in horsepower figures not realizing that having a lot of torque at lower RPMs is way more fun and way more useful on the street. So what if an R6 has 120hp if it’s only got a measly 45 lb-ft of torque which doesn’t even fully come on until a crazy 10K RPM. This bike supplies 80% of it’s 71 lb-ft of torque starting at 3500 RPM all the way up to 9000 RPM. BRAAAP!!

That’s good to hear. I haven’t ridden the S, but I’m happy with the suspension on the standard model, too. I noticed when they launched the bikes in Spain, the testers rode both back to back and none of them complained about the standard suspension or said you must get the Ohlins.

I just did the Desmo service on mine as I am at 30,000kms/18,000miles. Still the best bike I’ve ever owned and it’s been Honda reliable. I’d buy another one of these or a Pikes Peak Multistrada to replace it. If you’ve got the cash get the newer Supersport if not get a 2019 or 2020 model as it should have cornering ABS.

I would have loved to have gotten this but because it’s a sports bike and called the super sport the insurance companies where I live wanted like 800 per month to insure. I ended up going with a 2020 street triple r. Picking it up Saturday :D

@@leeridefar Thats part of it, the insurance companies "Ducati" and immediately think super expensive fast bikes, then they see "Supersport" and go oh definitely lol. I think most Ducatis are expensive where I am. We have an unofficial blacklist that has like the yamaha R6, R1, Honda CBR600 or 1000RR, any GSXR, any ninja supersports, most aprillias, not sure about MV agusta, but pretty much anything that has an aggressive seating position and a sport look you will pay out the arse for because of dumb 18-24 year old guys who buy a 600cc super sport and have no idea how to ride and end up destroying it or hurting themselves/someone else.

Thanks for the great informative review. I made a testride this week. What i noticed is that the seat gets really hot (burning hot), although I have to add that i was riding it in city traffic only for 1h and 28 °C. And the bike was waiting for me in full sunlight probably for quite some time before I rode it. And i was wearing protective jeans, not leather gear. Did you notice any problem? Specifically regarding the seat itself. I also found some people adding extra insulation below the seat. Thanks
@leeridefar
@leeridefar 4 жыл бұрын
All Ducati seats get hot. It’s just how they are. Slow speeds and jeans are not good on the Supersport. Leather pants always as it helps with the heat. The seat is all day comfortable for me but I’m usually on the highway. Once it slows down then I feel it. It’s good to ride slow on cold days :)

hey! love the video! I had a few questions I was hoping you could help me out with. I’m looking to upgrade from my first bike, I have a bmw g310gs that I got new and have rode for about a year now and I love it, however I’m a bigger guy at 5’9-5’10 215lbs. the 34hp of the 310gs while enough and I can cruise on the highway its a light bike and is kinda sketchy going over 50 lol. so a month ago I went into my local Ducati dealer and was originally interested in the Ducati desert sled. while I do love the way it looks and the off road capabilities of the bike being real with my self I’ve owned this 310gs for a year and have went off road once... lol I saw this exact bike in the dealer show room and asked to sit on it. well after that the rest is history. I immediately fell in love with the seating, riding position, and looks of this bike. I have never been into sport bikes ever until I saw this bike. that being said I don’t do track days well probably wont(maybe like 1 every other year or something but I don’t plan to ever) so I use my bike for daily commutes and going on rides with the guys. the one thing I do absoutley love about my 310gs is the game mileage lol! I have a turbo Silverado I race and that thing is not good on gas to say the least so 70mpg on my Bmw is amazing! I wouldn’t want the S model personally just the base super sport would be fine for me I think. but do u think this would be a nice upgrade I could still continue to grow into? the salesman told me there’s a rain mode? and its supposed to cut power a lot so I figured I could ride in that until I’m comfortable with the bike and was hoping that mode would result in better mpg’s as well lol! what are your thoughts?? thank you
@leeridefar
@leeridefar 6 жыл бұрын
The Supersport gets much better fuel mileage in the rain mode. But it still won't compare to the 310GS. It's a worthy tradeoff. Given your experience the Supersport is a good move and you're the right size for it. It may still feel small to you but that will be related to how tall the desert sled is (it's one of the tallest seat heights out there). Go for a used Supersport as most of them should have low mileage. But the 2019s will have cornering ABS which is a big safety bonus. I hope you have some good roads to ride it on. Take it to the track to really learn it and cornering. Treat a trackday as a learning experience to make you a better rider. It'll make you a safer (and faster) rider.

I don’t really get the vibey mirrors complaint everyone has. They’re there to see IF something is behind you. Not to be able tp read the license plate of the car 100m behind you or t see what brand of leathers the sportbike rider has before he passes you
@leeridefar
@leeridefar 2 жыл бұрын
It hasn’t prevented me from riding it 30,000kms (18,000miles) but it is much more vibey than every motorcycle I have ridden. It is worth mentioning. Ducati even issued a recall for it but didn’t solve it. I’d still buy another Supersport if the mirrors were equally vibey but i want a pikes peak multi!

Why didn't you get the panigale v2? Was that part of the consideration when you purchased the super sport? Also does the Super Sport 950s come with heated grips?
@leeridefar
@leeridefar 2 жыл бұрын
The Panigales have too much of an aggressive seating position. I mostly tour on my Supersport with some track days. A Panigale would be awful for touring. Also the power band of the panigale is more geared towards track riding. I need usable power, not track power. Not sure if the Supersport 950 has heated grips.

What does that carbon fiber Acro exhaust do for the Super Sport performance? I thought there was not much to be gained with aftermarket exhaust on this bike as far as horsepower goes. That would only be achieved on something like a panigale
@leeridefar
@leeridefar 2 жыл бұрын
Nothing. It just looks better. Like most aftermarket exhausts. It’s not too loud either. The dual arrow exhausts are ridiculously loud. Unnecessary but looks great.

How much extra does that exhaust from Akrapovic add to the price of the bike at the dealer?
@leeridefar
@leeridefar 2 жыл бұрын
I bought mine used (3,000miles) so I really didn’t have to pay for it. At the dealer it’s gonna cost you $1500+ Try to find a ducati that is 2 years old and low mileage. Best value. Aftermarket mods make the bike easier to sell but don’t necessarily increase price. Right now I’m looking for a 2019-2020 Multistrada pikes peak.

True. It just has 20 years of time between them. I recently rode a 2015 Honda VFR 800 in comparison and that is very close to the Supersport. Just the Ducati does everything better except for the gas tank size.

I rode a 2015 VFR800 and the SuperSport on the same day on a great twisty road. The Supersport is better in every way except the gas tank. VFR has a bigger one. That doesn’t mean the VFR is bad, it’s actually quite good. If I never rode the Supersport and just the VFR I would be very happy. However... Ducati made a better version.
