Hey brother! I just checked out your channel, and binge watched all 11 episodes of the tractor project for the last few hours. I really enjoy this kind of stuff. I am 3/4 through building an LS engine for my jeep, and although it is a challenging project for me, and a giant learning experience, my project has nothing on yours lol. You weren't kidding when you said you had carbon buildup. The worst part my project was cleaning, cleaning cleaning. God I hate cleaning. But reassembly is great fun!. I'm subscribed and I am waiting for the next update!

Ok here's my info for this week's video. First off please don't just clean the heads up and put them back on I leaned that the hard way. My 500 (same engine just a 6 cylinder) had a few warped exhaust valves which caused the same issue. My friend had a valve and seat grinder we were able to grind the warp out of the valve and clean the seats up. I didn't know this at first and I put the tractor back together after just cleaning the heads up and had this issue on my 5/6 head still pooring and unburnt fuel. the 3/4 was at the machine shop and ground and my 1/2 head is in good shape. Definitely have them valves ground and seats ground I thought I would also be able to get away with just cleaning everything up. Next off since your this far it's really not hard at all to drop the oil pan inspect the bearings, and pull all the pistons out inspect the rings, pull the liners out and clean the block and replace the liner orings (2 orings on each cylinder I'll bet they are hard and will start leaking coolant into your oil sooner than later) and also run a ball hone though the cylinders. Call me crazy but I did all this in 3 weeks before a threshing show this year went from not running to basicly rebuilt. But I would definitely hone cylinders, replace liner orings, grind valves and seats, clean everything. The way I look at it you'll have a very good reliable tracror in the end for these few extra steps and you'll never have to worry about this engine again. I did all ths t to my 500 and she purrs like a top now I even took it to a antique tractor pull and she did very good. If you have any questions message me on Facebook @ Isaac Ristow

I will be grinding the valves... well at least my buddy will. (Not something I want to be trying. I'll just observe. Lol) He has a valve grinder. I do realize the benafits of building the bottom end but It is not in the budget unfortunately.

@@DuchesnesCorner the only money I spent on my bottom end was 80 bucks for all my liner orings and a tube of silicone. I would never pull heads and not reseal linders and clean the block out

Where did you get a liner oring kit for $80??
@1997cr80r5 жыл бұрын
@@DuchesnesCorner I got the orings from the dealership they are still available mine was a 6 cylinder to I had to buy 4 more orings than you will need too. Actully now that I think about it they were like 50 buck for all 12 I needed maybe less. The old orings in my motor were very hard and came out in pieces mine had started leaking coolant into the oil. Odds are yours isn't yet because there's sediment at the bottom of your block sealing it right now once that works loose you'll get coolant in your oil and you'll have to start all over and pull the cylinder heads again

That can easily be fitted into the budget. Thanks!

Have your heads checked for cracks.They are bad for cracking near the valves.magnaflux them both. All that black carbon in the exhaust is common of a cracked head.
