I'm so happy Duchess Catherine! Your children "speak" for the kind of parent you are. From what I see and hear, they are truly blessed. I've been a mental health patient for over 25 years because my parents did not provide stability, unconditional love & acceptance for me. Every child I've ever had in my life knew I loved them. My best friend had twins. Her son Dylan was my best little buddy! He even jumped off his bunk bed like a monkey onto me and clung tight because he hadn't seen me in 2 years. We had only talked on the phone. He told me, " I never stopped loving you Aunt Kate! I knew you would come home." I feel the women & children you meet will change our world because of your kindness & beauty of spirit!

I think it's fantastic bringing this to the fore. 40 years ago I had problems after my 2nd child when he was 10 months old and was diagnosed eventually with anxiety. I had 3 pregnancy in 2 years, the first ending in a miscarriage, then travelled overseas for 3 months with 2 babies in nappies then when we got home we decided to sell up and return to my home country. The Dr gave me pills, no counseling which would have been of great benefit. Anything that can help others overcome these obstacles is really great.

Well done. A very worthy patronage. I was a bit miffed when our first arrived with no instruction manual. The second arrival brought new problems. I had no family or friends living in the same country. It could get lonely at times. By the time the third arrived, I was getting the hang of things and always maintained that you should have the third one first. On losing the middle child when he was in his teens my arms felt so empty that I wished with all my heart that we had had more children.

This is the most important part of life for us and new mums have multiple challenges- physical, mental, financial, emotional, social and in intimate relationships, any one of which can be overwhelming singly to anyone. We are not designed to be in isolation at this time, the care and understanding of groups is a lifeline to young mums. My own post-natal isolation had heartbreaking outcomes, it is so wonderful to think we are on the way to prevent the same for others. Delighted to see such a wonderful Mum as Patron.

This is such an important issue that needs to be raised yet understood! Not all women are able to deliver a child and simply move on with a bliss filled life. Catherine I am thrilled that you are doing this! I adopted my son from Russia almost 12 years ago, he was 4. The road has not been an easy one. There have been a lot of ups and downs. It took a lot of work, but it also just took time. I wish I would have been able to know with certainty that things were going to get better because I lost sleep, tears, and worry at the time, wondering if life was always now going to be hard. It took at least a year for him to adjust. In retrospect, he was a scared little kid who did not speak the same language as me and were going through a traumatic time. I was a complete stranger and his behavior or sadness had nothing to do with my parenting skills or lack thereof. I wish I had been able to relax and not take it so personally.
