Dang, Rio is really good. That long haul he did on the far duck is impressive.

my art teacher he had a dog like that. A bunch of us went hunting with him after we got outta high school (hunting is big here) and we were all blown away by what Charlie could get done. Those dogs just love what they do!

Very impressive. It's so hard to get a dog to be that patient. My old lab would get so excited when the shots rung out he was already out of his little dog blind before the ducks hit the water. I still loved his crazy ass though. Miss him.

Watching this on August 3rd...October can't get here fast enough now! Outstanding work...and the two boat hauls and attention to detail, hard work, and belief that your work would pay off...that makes it all the more impressive! Inspirational!

It’s brutal when you’re trying to get out before sun up and it’s 20 degrees BUT it’s been cool enough to allow the lake to start icing over and then the sun doesn’t come up but it stays overcast and it starts to snow the thick heavy wet snow.

Fellas, great video. The dog was awesome!! But as I have said before, the channel is called meateater. I am sure the extra time to shot cost time and money but I would love to see after each video a cooking portion just a regular dudes opinion. Love your your stuff and love the duck lore series.

Its like fishin. Most days of fishin are okay depending on if ya know what you’re doing. But every now and then you get that day where you land 20 coho salmon, or 25 15” crappie. Or a big limit on big chinook. Or catch that mess of smallmouth finishing on a 4/5 pounder. Or get into a big school of mahi or yellowfin. Its rare to draw blackjack, but if ya do the dance often enough you do

How does one go about getting permission to hunt on private land? I grew up waterfowl hunting but we were always in a club. I really want to get back into it but don't want to join a club. I know of some public areas for ducks, but everything I've seen public for geese is an absolute joke.

Wonder if that rancher will let you back, dragging that Russian thistle all over their property. They’ll be getting rid of that for the next 3 years in their pasture
I know you say you eat them but I want to see how! I don’t like that most waterfowl hunters don’t care to eat what they kill! Proof is needed! Everyone I have talked to in my part of Idaho is wasteful and I don’t respect it!

In Wyoming we protect our wildlife as much as we maintain and care for the environmental quality (air, land, water). Hunting could be called sport, but this is not that. This is dinner through the winter months, or a special dish on Christmas. We respect the value of banded birds and what it provides for data collection and regulation on populations. Learning the distance that they travel from and the time of their banding is also really cool to hear about. It's the life story of some birds ready to be taken out of rotation. This helps for healthier and thriving populations. Bird and game hunters ARE NOT trophy hunters. While a nice set of antlers is always a bonus, no sane hunter would take a head mount over the extremely nutritious and healthy meat of an animal. Predator hunting lands under the umbrella of rodent control, prevention of predation of livestock, fur collection/trading, and trophies. These are all regulated based on season and land division in Wyoming and if you can even draw a tag on some animals to hunt. Wyoming does it right.
