All of the things you mentioned are dishes that are popular in my country. We always have braised red cabbage around Christmas. I am so thankful to my parents for not only cooking well, but also stuffing me with vegetables when I was a kid so I enjoy them now.

Thanks for making a delicious side dish that isn't vegetarian. With respect to the vegetarians out there, not all vegetable dishes need to be vegetarian friendly. Duck fat (or bacon fat, for that matter) make delicious brussels sprouts SO much better. This is a great recipe. For us, Finishing with a little balsamic instead of the lemon juice really highlights the carmelized flavor.

What a brilliant combination! I am making these tomorrow, no matter how busy my day is. Two of my all-time fave ingredients!

I LOVE brussel sprouts, too! Also very tasty: Cook them in some seasoned stock (I prefer beef but chicken is also great; salt, pepper, some garlic powder and of course Worcestershire sauce) and then stir fry them (with a little bit of olive oil). :-)

In two days, I'll attend a birthday dinner, for which my assignment is a vegetable dish. I have some duck fat, from a friend who just did duck for Thanksgiving. She's not interested in using the fat ... lucky me!! I may adapt it to your other Brussels sprouts recipe, and include some Cipillone onions. Those I think I should par-boil. If I can't find them, and have to go with "pearl" onions, I may not. Thanks.
