Great hunt! We just got back from 3 days in Western Nebraska. We did ok, was hoping to hunt the actual river but we did not. What dates were you hunting if I may ask? We were December 15-17th and were told "we were early", which was a surprise to me considering NE borders S. Dakota. Glad you got some decoying river mallards, its fun
@FreelanceDuckHunting16 күн бұрын
I don't think you were early. The weather had just been stale for a while. I was there Dec 28-30.
@Yellowlab247_Outdoors16 күн бұрын
@@FreelanceDuckHunting We were told that too. "these ducks are stale and feeding at night with the full moon". Will check the moon next time before booking. Good stuff, thanks Elliott

Elliott, I do appreciate most of your videos b/c individuals kill their own birds. When I see 5 guys banging one duck, it's unsportsmanlike and chaotic. How do ya know who killed what and it's actually illegal? I hope your next video will show some better hunters.
@FreelanceDuckHunting16 күн бұрын
Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. After being there for three days, I can assure you that there is absolutely nothing illegal about what they are doing. After each shot, birds are distributed into individual group members' stacks and monitored closely. It's important to remember that just because a certain style of hunting is not the way you prefer to hunt, it doesn't mean it's the wrong way to hunt. There are many different hunting styles, and we each have our own preferences for how to go about things. As a hunting community, it's vital that we stay on the same team and support each other-even if we prefer to do things differently.

@FreelanceDuckHunting but 5 guns on 1 duck. That's not "backup shooting", you filmed its gangbanging. Who claims those dead ducks? Then the guide "distrubutes" the ducks to the hunter who wants it to get on the strap? I've had LEO shake me & 2 other hunters down b/c we were on the "hot blind". We called the shots according to the number of ducks working. If a single, one man would take it. If a group came in, we would pick and say which side or which duck of the group. Might be more regimental, but we knew which duck each killed. The Game Warden was watching us from another blind. We killed ducks and my dog would retrieve the birds back to the blind. I would give each hunter the duck they killed. The LEO walked to my blind, asked us to show our ducks. He was asking "who killed what?" and questioned our truthfulness. We cleared his check, but he specifically told us that if he saw 1 duck fall from multiple volleys, he could write tickets for wrongful possession. If our ducks were in a pile while afield, another ticket for illegal possession b/c of which hunter was responsible for each bird. I often see videos of party hunts/gangbangs where guys are pushing the "possession/kill" violations. But on private land, it's easier to bend the rules. Cheers

In all my years of hunting if five guys were aiming and shooting at one duck I have never heard of that as being illegal. Can you cite the law on that? As far as your comment on shooting, yeah, these guys could use some practice. I guess it is relative to how good a shot you are. I am a good shot. I do not miss that often, but I have been with guys that absolutely put me to shame,. So, I keep my mouth shut, not draw attention and hope they do not say anything, because now I am comparing myself to guys in the 95th percentile of shooters and for comparison purposes I might be in the high 80's, because now they maybe looking at me as the sore thumb in the group.o

True, but Chris is a great friend of mine and it was a pleasure to he able to hunt with him. He has created a very unique and high quality hunting environment. It’s fun to experience different types of hunting from time to time. I look forward to going back and hunting with him again next season.
