I showed the cop that I actually had my belt on, and he told me that it’s considered improper use of the safety belt and I got a $50.00 ticket for it.

The update on Jase is way different. Turns out the LA statute does not stipulate how the seat belt is worn: §295.1. Safety belt use; tags indicating exemption A.(1) Each driver of a passenger car, van, sports utility vehicle, or truck having a gross weight of twenty-six thousand pounds or less in this state shall have a safety belt properly fastened about his or her body at all times when the vehicle is in forward motion.
