I have a theory: that the reason dewey dreams of the moon cradling him was because of della being absent when he was a child/baby and he fantasizes in his dream about della or Donald taking care of him by cradling him while he’s asleep when he was also a child, and the moon being made out of his own tears was just because of his own sadness (implying angst, for example).
