I think people saying Louie shouldn't have to apologize to Doofus also forget/ignore the fact that Louie was never, nor did he ever intend to be, a good friend to Doofus. The only reason Louie wanted to hang out with him for the first time in The Day of The Only Child was because he wanted to indulge himself in whatever toys and experiences Doofus had to offer. He was only using him and didn't care about him as a person. Louie is being the bigger man by apologizing for his role in their relationship. He's taking ownership of it and being a mature, responsible person. Yes, Doofus is a terrible, insane person who is to blame for the vast lion's share of their rivalry, but in his eyes Louie started it by pretending to be a friend when all he wanted to do was to use him.

Lena's entire struggle to not let her connection to Magica dictate who she is can be summed up in one quote by the original Magica's Shadow: _I am my own person now; I don't need any blob of flesh to give me strength anymore!_

Hell, Webby is to Lena what Magica was to Poe, an impulsive, somewhat naive and inexperienced, younger sibling figure. There's a redemption arc for Magica hidden in there, regardless of whether or not she actually deserves it.

I ADORE the way this episode showcases a darker side of Scrooge. It feels very remmenissent of the comic "The Empire Builder from Calisota", where at his lowest point Scrooge burns down an African village, causing a witch doctor to curse him with being eternally chased by Bombi. Granted he did have a point about Christmas losing its spiritual touch to crass commercialization and lack of practicality of the toys, but the coal was no better and training kids to hate the world's one and only truly selfless being just because he decided to stay true to himself was so wrong, I hardly know when to begin. It feels like this episode was made because they knew they weren't getting a season four, and they definitely planned on this sort of episode being that season's penultimate episode. The ending did feel rushed, but not nearly as rushed as some other recently canned shows. I'm glad that we at least got some history with Scrooge McDuck and the Beagles, which is something I'll admit the series was unfortunately light on. Also getting a bit of what Magica and a younger, and more arrogant Scrooge story would be like. I was surprised it didn't end with her being held prisoner in the dime. Seeing how much pain and shame he felt when Magica was telling her story about her lost brother really recontextualizes how he blames himself for Della's disappearance and how insane he went trying to find her. He saw it happen to one of his enemies, and he then saw it happen to him and Donald. It was his second chance to save a lost family member. And Poe is TOTALLY going to be a favorite character among a certain portion of the fanbase. Can't say I don't blame them.

There's two major things I really admire about this episode: 1) The fact that they brought some more characters from the original "Ducktales," in this case Webra Walter and Poe de Spell, and 2) how they delved into the unpleasant side of Scrooge's past. Magica's part really got to me considering what happened to her brother, and how genuinely heartbroken she was about those circumstances. As for your theory on this possibly originally being a lead-in to another season, I can kind of see that. It would've been kind of interesting to see how Scrooge would handle not being rich anymore, and maybe other characters like Donald could've helped show him what to do in the meantime. Plus, it would've cool to see what Glomgold, Ma Beagle, and Magica's plans were if they won the court case. With all that out of the way, let's brace ourselves for 'The Last Adventure.'
@Jjop0173 жыл бұрын
If Scrooge was going to lose the trial I think it might have been a secret test of character to see how Scrooge handles losing everything and how the villains act now that they have won. My guess is if there was another season would have had a Scrooge to earn back his fortune only for Magica, Glomgold, and Ma Beagle to still antagonize him and abuse their new power. At the end the trial would be revealed to still be going and show Scrooge really won because his change of heart was true while the villains would lose since regardless of any outcome or even when they have everything they want they are still the villains thus Scrooge isn’t truly at fault for how bad they turned out. It is acts as a deconstruction of the whole the hero/protagonist wronged their villain/antagonist and blame them for everything bad they do and being unable to accept responsibility of their own actions.

They replaced Scrooge's attack of the native villagers in Africa for their land with the exploitation of victims of the DeSpells. It's kind of genius, because even though Scrooge didn't engage in violence, his antipathy was just as vile. Maybe even worse. If Scrooge's scruples had been engaged, he would've agreed to help Magica catch Poe on the condition that they undo all the damage they'd done and change the villagers back. I like the idea of the 'true' season finale ending with Scrooge and family having to get back his fortune, land, and dime and exactly how that would pan out in each respective case. The land would probably be easy, I can see the city of Duckberg quickly revolting under the Beagle's rule. And perhaps the Beagle's learning a (short-lived) lesson in compassion, with the three main Beagle Boys going against Ma's wishes in giving the deed back to Scrooge. The fortune probably wouldn't be that hard either. As while Scrooge wouldn't be rich, he'd be more focused on rebuilding his wealth through hard-work, than feuding with Glomgold. I can see Glomgold goading him, "How's it feel Scrooge? To be the POOREST DUCK IN THE WORLD? AHAHAHA." "Good afternoon Mr. Glomgold, I hope that you're doing well. Apologies if I can't spare time for our usual chats, but I'm a bit busy you see. In any case, best of luck with your financial endeavors." "What. What are you up to Scrooge?" "Nothing Mr. Glomgold. Just work. Good old-fashioned hard work. Tah!" I feel like the Number One Dime might have been the hardest to come by, but possibly would have ended with Scrooge scouring the globe to find Poe, and reuniting him with Magica. Not in exchange for the dime. But because it was the right thing to do. Perhaps Poe could touch the dime and regain his intellect, but wouldn't be able to change back so long as the dime was nearby, prompting Magica to return it. If knowing that a fourth season was confirmed, the Missing Mysteries could have taken a backburner till then.

Whether or not things were changed at the last minute, I imagine it probably didn't affect how this episode was meant to end particularly, imho. The current series has been pretty good at very quickly switching things back to status quo whenever it seems Scrooge has been stripped of everything, so I doubt this would have led to a multi-episode arc. Heck, the bet between Scrooge and Glomgold on a quest contest that would decide who would get whose fortune feels like it was forgotten about after it was introduced, so I don't think we're missing out an a grand story storyline here.

So random may not be connected theory....since Magica had a brother and now possess his magic after sacrificing himself to protect his sister and was turned into a crow. Does that mean that Leena is the daughter of Poe? Born from his part of the magic since Leena calls Magica her aunt and Magica has a brother that would mean that Poe could be Leena's father due to his half of the magic that Magica now has.

Speaking about overthinking everything. I wonder if Po, was meant to here in season four either as a new villain or a new ally, maybe as a Positive Member of Lena’s family, I mean it could of been a plot point with the whole Lena being introduced as Magica’s niece at one point in time.(despite being her shadow)

Tbh i still wish that it didn't end in 3 seasons, i think it should have at least 4, and by the way this ended, it really felt like it was changed when they were told it was getting canceled, like how they built up Della at the start, but didn't finish that arc until season 2, so starting F.O.W.L. in season 2 and ending it in a 4th season, more focusing on Webby and maybe Beakley, I do think she is/was hiding something more from Webby, and that could have been explored more if it wasn't canceled, like how they were setting up Beakley's lie at the end of The Lost Harp of Mervana! and others I think, but that is what I think
@mikeykitty12353 жыл бұрын
There are parts that still bothered me. Specifically about Glomgold and Ma Beagle. Ma Beagle claimed that the city was originally called "Beaglesburg", but Scrooge took it away and changed it to "Duckburg". And also, Duke became Glomgold, because Scrooge underpaid him. In real life, underpaid workers were very prevalant under capitalism. And many people still struggle to make a living wage even after working hard. People in poverty can't just work as hard as Scrooge had. It's a lot more complicated and a lot more depressing than what capitalists tend to make it sound like. And also, there's been histories of lands being taken or stolen by colonialists through means of genocide or other horrendous means. And it saddens me that Ducktales just glosses over them and acts like they're a non-issue because "Scrooge is a altruist capitalist!" but is he really?

I agree that if season 3 wasn’t the last season. You could said that seasons 1-2 focus on the missing relative of The Duck Family: Della Duck while seasons 3-4 could have focus on Webby’s family a bit more.

I'm pretty sure that if this wasn't going to be the last season, The Karma Court would have ruled that Scroouge would have kept everything except the dime which would go to Magica as she was the only one who had a real 'case' against him. That way, Scrooge would loose something, but would use it as a lesson for Louie so that he could understand that action has consequence and that sometimes you have to pay for your mistakes. this would also make it so that Poe could come back, Lena helps Magica find him, Lena and Magica could make amends (somewhat), and Magica could be redeemed? (It's Disney doing it because redeeming villains is a trend in children's shows).

My hunch is that the finale will have FOWL get their hands on the Papyrus of Binding, and use it to reverse this decision. This would lead to Scrooge's wealth to a man who will squander it, the town to a criminal who would ruin it, and his artifacts to someone FOWL thinks they can best, with unforeseen consequences. Xiaolin Showdown and Jackie Chan Adventures pulled similar season and series finales back in the day, and it might work towards the thus far missing Ducktales plot of seeing what an alternate future is like

I mean we do get a three part finale, makes sense they wanted to step back and try to focus a bit more on the classic main villains in the last few episodes, show how Beaks is no longer seen as the trendy tech genius he was presented as in Season 1 and is finally getting what he deserves, we get a nice lil connection for Don Karnage to be in the finale, Louie makes peace with Doofus, and we get some nice backstory for Glomgold, where we see how they interacted like earlier on in their rivalry and why he holds a special place in his heart for sharks, Ma Beagle, where we finally see how Scrooge “swindled” the deed from Pa Beagle and how Ma became the boss, and Magica, where we finally see why she holds a specific grudge to Scrooge of all people and where Poe has been all this time

I don't hate this episode but it leaves a weird taste in my mouth. Trying to show that almost every villain scrooge ever had was in the wrong with Ma Beagle being the worst. Sure it's a comedy and a kids show, they can get away with her just being "Rotten" but that sets a bad precedent that everyone this millionaire at the time screwed over deserved to be. I like that they go hard on the fact that he profits off the poor trapped in an awful situation and though there is nothing that can be done to right that wrong... just how quickly it is swept under the rug bothers me.

Hard to believe the series finale is around the corner, I remember being excited for the series to premiere. I stayed up rewatching Ducktales on my DVDs until midnight leading into the premiere of the new series at midnight & loved it so much that I watched it a few other times during the day since it was on repeat all day. I could not wait for more episodes, I had a theory that was correct on Mrs. Beakly being a SHUSH agent. Back when all we had was the first episode, I pitched the theory to Aaron Sparrow, I saw him every time I went to comicon. He bit his tongue & steered it away from that, telling me about a deleted scene from the first episode where Gabby took the phone call from Webby when she was talking to Mrs. Beakly & she recognized Gabby's voice which had me excited, I knew he was subtly confirming my theory. Later it in series when it was revealed, I was excited by the fact it was presented that I was right finally, I knew all along. Hard to believe where we've gone from there, now we have the showdown with FOWL happening & it's like, this series packed way more in than ever expected & I am thrilled it did. I'm almost kind of hoping that the series finale would drop hints towards a Darkwing Duck spinoff because I don't want Negaduck to end up being the future Danny of the Ducktales series. If you don't get it, cutting a long story short, a villain from Danny Phantom was teased to return but never did, I know that's like the bare bones description, sorry. I don't want Negaduck to have that treatment, he was my favorite in Darkwing Duck, I don't collect Funko pops at all but I grabbed one of Negaduck at comicon because that's how much I like him. His origin in the reboot is my favorite origin the character has had. It would be a shame to throw that away & given Darkwing Duck was a SHUSH agent in the original series, maybe his help against FOWL could cause SHUSH to employ him, J. Gander Hooter was totally impressed with DW in the original series so assuming he's in charge of SHUSH in the reboot & has a lot of the same personality, I can see him offering to bring DW on, maybe offer to fund his heroics & so on causing a door to be open to a spinoff series but that's far too much to hope for I guess. We do need to have things close up & so on within this series & maybe leaving an open door somewhere would bring down what the finale has to offer. Spinoff is far too hopeful, I see the potential but don't know if it will happen. I do enjoy thinking about it. This show has packed in so much Disney Afternoon that none of them would really need a spinoff & I can appreciate what it did. I love every moment of watching this series. I'll admit that I'm only 29 years old so my exposure to these shows was watching reruns on Disney Channel when I was very little then when my grandparents got Toon Disney right around the early 2000's, I continued watching them again since the Disney Channel stopped playing the reruns when it became Zoog Disney. The reruns would still play within the last few years Toon Disney was alive but it was rare, sometimes you could catch a marathon on Toon Disney's Play it Again Jam but by that point, I had Ducktales, Darkwing Duck, Chip N Dale Rescue Rangers, & Talespin on DVD. I wanted Goof Troop but it didn't have a decent enough DVD release back then, all I could find was one disc with a couple episodes on it. I would just regularly rewatch the DVDs so I didn't need Toon Disney anymore by the time it officially died off. It's because of this, the shows were fresh enough in my mind, I am sad that I'm too young to have known the Disney Afternoon when it was running because I'm sure little me would of been hardcore invested but I was young enough to where most people my age didn't really even know what Ducktales was back around the early 2000's. It's part of what got me to love Toontown as a kid, the fact that Scrooge was the reason why cogs were invading thrilled me, I thought it was some odd obscure reference to a show I loved but not many people knew about so seeing it included in a video game I was playing in 2003 thrilled me to no end, I didn't realize how major the series actually was until I got to high school & met other people who likes the show too but nobody knew Darkwing Duck which saddened me. I ran the Cartoon Club my junior year of high school & decided our debut cartoon would be Darkly Dawns the Duck parts 1 & 2, I had the VHS so we could watch it uncut. Like 5, maybe 6 people showed up & only one other person knew of Darkwing Duck but he couldn't remember it that well. Stinks because I worked hard on making fliers that advertised the club with the Liquidator on them, I thought it was cute & clever. The reboot means a lot to me because it not only introduced people in my generation to the Disney Afternoon but it introduced the kids of today to it. I use to work at an after school center & one day I walked into work (we change into staff clothes there) wearing a Darkwing Duck shirt & a kid who was by the front desk freaked out, stating he loves Darkwing Duck. He watches the Ducktales reboot & his dad let him read the comics that came out in 2010. We also played the reboot at work for the kids during the summer, it was like cartoon week or something, I don't fully remember what theme it was but during the summer, it's themed weeks. The entire room of kids were singing the theme song, it was off key but it was such an amazing moment to live in, knowing that this fantastic reboot taught today's kids about a show even I'm a bit too young for. Thank you parents for playing the Disney Channel for me when they wanted to shut me up when I was just a little toddler. It worked. Thank you reboot for existing, you will be missed, hoping the series finale will be everything it should be.

This episode provides a good example of, regardless of how Scrooge's values have changed, there's one core tenet he's always held: fairness. Traditionally, Scrooge wasn't known for being nice or morally right; but he always prided himself on the fact that he earned every bit of his wealth fair and square, or legally at the very least. In his mind, people are due what they deserve. Scrooge was arrogant and greedy, but his enemies were arrogant, greedy, dishonest, AND sadistic. Still, there's no denying that Scrooge's arrogance led him to going overboard. He left Glomgold out in the middle of the ocean on a pile of rocks surrounded by Sharks where he could have died from starvation or pneumonia, leading him to his infamous obsession with Sharks. After beating Pappy Beagle at arm wrestling and exposing him as a cheater; he needlessly rubbed his victory in Lil' Ma's face, prompting her to step up and lead the Beagle family to become bigger criminals. As for Magica, even if one was to argue that Scrooge wasn't obligated to help Magica recover her brother; Scrooge took advantage of her impulsive nature by mocking her for her reliance on family (her brother), which prompted her to fire the blast that ended up turning Poe into a raven. This may have influenced her treatment of Lena, if not solely because she was her shadow; but I feel this is why Scrooge ended up feeling regret for his lack of sympathy of Magica. He belittle her value of family, a value that he himself would later learn to appreciate; and now that he valued family more than ever, he regrets merely saying something like that.
