One thing I really admire about Launchpad's subplot was that he and Donald actually interacted a lot. Up until then, the only times that happened were for a minor gag or two, which felt like wasted potential on having them pal around in this show. Seriously, I'd love it if they were shown hanging out more often, and adding Della into the mix is a great bonus. Anyways, this episode did an excellent job with the horror elements, especially with the monsters both before and after they revealed their true identities. Having Launchpad burst in to save the kids was just epic. I also loved Scrooge's skeleton costume, which had a strange yet charming look to it. As for my trick-or-treating days, I did that up until my high school junior year. Although my family and I were doing this with my younger brother and his friend for those last couple of years, and during my senior year I went to a football game and Halloween dance at my school (where I dressed as another cartoon billionaire: Mr. Burns). But on the bright side, I still love wearing costumes each year and watching various Halloween specials.

The stunt-casting for the monsters may count as an Easter Egg! Selma Blair and Doug jones (The Witch and Werewolf, respectively) are Liz Sherman & Abe Sapien from the Hellboy movies, which leads me to believe that Disney may've wanted to/tried to get Ron Perlman to be Frankenstein, initially but may not have been able to. This is, of course, speculation on my part. Frankenstein's Monster was voiced by Clancy Brown, who previously played the monster, live action, in 1985's The Bride. The vampire was voiced by James "Spike from Buffy The Vampire Slayer" Marsters!

I have to admit, I was kind of disappointed that the big reveal of Launchpad was that he misunderstood Halloween, instead of having one of his strange little side adventures that we never actually get to see in the show. You know, like when he went off on his own while everyone went to the casino to save Gladstone. And you'd think Darkwing Duck would have had a Halloween special or at the very least costumes. You just know Launchpad would have bought one as a collectible. It was amazing to see that this version of Donald is that caring and gentile outside of his anger issues that he refuses to let Della pull the kind of pranks he would have in other cartoons. Della has taken on his mischief making tendencies, though not nearly as malicious as Donald would, while Donald seems to have grown out of that sort of thing. As if being the nephews' guardian his entire life, rather than being stuck with them as bratty little kids like the old cartoons, mellowed him out and made him more nurturing. Like that one episode last season said, he channeled all the anger and pain he felt into protecting his family. Love seeing it on display, even subtly.

This was a really fun Halloween special, and one that works super well because of the character interactions. Donald and Della haven't gotten much time to interact, let alone play off any sibling rivalry in the show, and similarly, Donald and Launchpad haven't gotten to interact much, either. So between some really fun interactions in the much lighter B story to the Kids' A Story which has some creepy elements without getting to an actually scary (for me) level, it's a really solid Halloween episode. And in that A plot, Huey and Louie's conflict is another great moment for Huey this season as well as a great chance for Louie's character growth from the second season to play in. It's overall a really fun episode that manages to be fun scary rather than "I am a grown man terrified of walking around late at night without flipping every light on the second I enter a room" scary. ...Have I mentioned I am a very easy scare? Because I'm very easily scared...

When Huey said he was worried about this being the "last Halloween" with his brothers, I scratched my head a little. What rule exists where you have to be a "certain age" to do Halloween or go trick r treating? Look at Launchpad; once he got to understand what the holiday was really about, even HE got into the trick r treating mood...despite being a man in his mid-30's or so. I do believe Count Jackula put it best in his review of Witch's Night Out, long ago. "The moment you think you're too old for Halloween is the moment you think you're too old to be awesome." So, I think the boys still have many chances ahead to do trick r treating on Halloween; in the future. Provided, of course...that they don't fall for another one of Louie's dumb plans. (Side Note: Unlike most people, I think classic monsters are so much more iconic than the modern ones. I mean, really...what's Jigsaw got that classic vampires don't or what makes a dumb clown scarier than werewolves?)

Excellent hand gestures throughout. Really adds to the engagement! :) Might I suggest throwing in a few shoulder shrugs to add even more dynamics to your presentation? *shrugs* ;)

I know that the Wereduck is from the original Ducktales when Monsters stayed at Scrooge’s Mansion. Xp

Halloween is also a time for scary movies both modern and classic. And on that note, I feel confident to declare that I kind of picture Peter Cushing as a human version of Uncle Scrooge, albeit with a more Scottish brogue to his voice.

Terrible Balor costume. She reminded of neither a celtic giant, nor a copyright friendly Balrog. A good Cacodemon though.

it looked like something more Lovecraftian than Celtic.

So here's the horror movie references that i witness in this episode: - Saw (Jigsaw Killer doll) - Ring - Stephen King's It (The 1990 Tim Curry one) On Launchpad's case, that could be one of these: - Texas Chain Saw Massacrer - Evil Dead - The Mighty Ducks films (the mask) Also sidenote, Kid Launchpad looks a lot like Doofus Drake

Dan Akroyd was writing a line for John Belushi as he was doing so he got the call that Belushi had overdosed. Four days later my mother went into labor. The day she was in labor Belushi was buried & my birthday newspaper which she still has was bill Murray laying a flower on Belushis casket. Also his brother Jim Belushi played the mayor of my hometown at that time period on HBO a few years ago.

The slime monster behind the door got me thinking of Uno from the Italian PKNA Paperinik/Duck Avenger comic.

Halloween was and still is my favorite time of the year. It was definitely more fun as a kid though.

I went trick-or-treating until I was 15 years old then during my high school years, I'd run a little haunt in the front yard with inviting over friends to help scare the trick-or-treaters because when I was a kid, I loved getting scared on Halloween & aside from one actual scare I still can't explain & this one time a teenager hiding under his porch scared us, I hadn't had much of that so I wanted to run a haunt for the kiddos to remember for years. By the way, I can tell the story of the scare I still can't explain, it's somewhat of a fun story. The place I grew up in was this cul-de-sac that's apart of a neighborhood with a line of 4 cul-de-sacs all up hills & it was kind of a thing to try our best to trick-or-treat in all 4 but everyone in our own little cul-de-sac didn't know the other ones well since we only visited them on Halloween but we knew some of the kids that lived on them since they had the same bus stop as us & went to the same school but not knowing the streets as well made it seem creepier. In my particular group from my cul-de-sac, I was the oldest one so I was the tallest & in charge of the group when we went out, I was also the only one tall enough to look through door windows at the time of the story. We got to a house on the 2nd cul-de-sac down, we're those losers who lived on the 4th one which is farthest from the bus stop sad to say, some of us such as myself since my parents' house backed to the third cul-de-sac knew a bit about the third so that one wasn't as strange, the scarier territory was definitely the second & I don't think any of us knew anyone in particular who lived on this street so we had no one to ask about this later. We reached a house that did indeed have their porch light on but no Halloween decorations or anything & nobody was approaching the house. Of course, we decided to because candy so we get up there & knock, there's nothing. We knock again, nothing so we rang the doorbell & still nothing, Eventually, I stood up & looked in through the window since I was the only one who could do so & the house inside looks very dark & empty, all I could see was darkness & a staircase to the right so I figured maybe nobody was home or they were all asleep & forgot to turn off their porch light. Just before I was going to step down & tell the kids what I saw, out of nowhere there's this face of an elderly woman looking out at me through the window & she vanished almost as quickly as she appeared. I screamed & ran down the driveway. I told the kids what I saw & they agreed to get far away from there. That's probably the biggest scare I ever had myself on Halloween as a kid but I always wanted more of an adventure. It's odd, either I'm the person scaring or I'm the one who encounters the thing that started my neighborhood urban legends like in September 2007, I was just a few weeks away from turning 16 so a teenager at the time, I encountered some spirit or something in the park near our neighborhood, still don't know what the heck it was but it was glowing, white, & animal shape. My friend who was with me saw it too, we made the mistake of staying in the park after sunset & we decided NEVER to do that again after the experience we had, I told everyone I knew about the whole thing after it happened. Dunno if that one is making it into the urban legend books for my neighborhood or not but hey, I seem to be the one that ends up starting them. I always wanted to be the one to hear a story then go investigate it myself like it's cool being the first one to encounter it & everything but dang, I love hearing urban legends then trying to either debunk them or find out there might be more truth to the story than I would of expected. Watching the Halloween episode of Ducktales did remind me of why I love Halloween so much & I have had some amazing Halloweens in my adulthood so I'm not complaining, I've brought my love for Halloween into the workplace like when I worked as an event organizer, I'd take over hosting most of the October events such as going to haunted houses, doing corn mazes, & one of my favorites that we did in 2013 was when I hosted a meetup in a haunted pizza place & yes, we have one of those where I live & I'm not talking commercial haunt either, I'm talking actually haunted. If you must know, it has some relation to the Shanghai tunnels but that's all you're getting from me. We got our own area on the second floor of the restaurant & we told scary stories, it was a blast. When I got a job working at a after school center, during one October, the kids asked me to tell them a scary story so I told the one about what happened when I was trick-or-treating with the neighborhood kids & I saw the creepy old lady & from there, it became tradition for me to tell scary stories to the kids every October but I did cheese them just a tad for the younger kids. I love talking & telling scary stories if you couldn't tell, I say jokingly because that much is obvious. Halloween doesn't stop when you grow up, it just morphs into something different. It's about how you choose to spend your Halloween that makes it special so I did definitely feel for this. I always try to find ways to spice up my Halloween every year except this one, I'm in the middle of moving, I move into a new apartment on November 1st so I will sadly be spending my Halloween at my aunt's house & due to current events, I can't go out to haunted attractions or anything, even the ones that are open because I don't want to put anyone in danger. This is a bit of a non-Halloween which sucks but that's another reason to love this episode of Ducktales, it delivered a little Halloween to me when I can't go seek it myself. It makes me so happy to see.
