This is my first ever video (of many more to come) of a very remote property I have purchased. Follow along in my first summer, as I try to find a way to access my property, and then figure out how I will get all my belongings up a river, to my final destination in the deep wilderness.

A couple things: 16:23- the old Hondas sometimes need a little love, aka “Seafoam” in the gas to clean out the carbs. Add a bit to the fuel of your 2-stroke 15 while you’re at it. You might already know this, but the plant with the white flowers you mentioned at 20:17 is called Cow Parsnip (Heracleum Maximum) and if you’re running that weed whacker near it, you’ll want protective clothing. Its sap can cause phytophotodermatitis if you get it on your skin. Looking forward to more videos.

Cow Parsnip is really bad…get some sap in your eyes, a good way to lose your eyesight. Seriously, if you do come in contact with the stalk or sap, immediately exclude sunlight from the affected area

You have balls of steel! That being said, I suspect you will find moments when you are overwhelmed by what you are attempting. Just remember, courage isn’t not being scared. It’s being terrified, but doing it anyway. Please make sure you have a can of bear spray or two and a top quality first aid kit. And try not to ever be in a hurry. Best of luck!!!!

Pretty sure I know where this is! Beautiful area for sure! I strongly recommend not going anywhere close to the river, some years it may overflow to your cabin so pick higher ground away from the river if possible.

Coastal Mountains...not wanting to intruded on you .. but Ive been through those locations many times over the years and the scenery looks like that locale...Good luck and smooth sailing on your extremely FINE WILDERNESS camp !!!! cheers!!! from an old geezer with ties to the Cassiar and Kitimat/Terrace. PS ...got the near identical woodstove in my cabin in the Kootenays ...heats under 1000 sq/ft perfectly on local deadfall and wind blowdowns fir, pine and larch.

Love that you are following your dream. Keep it simple, with nature sounds. You don't have to add star wars like graphics, music etc to entertain us. Those of us following all have similar dreams and enjoy the beautiful outdoors and the simplicity of just watching you in the wild with nature's sounds of water running, birds chirping or the sound of wind blowing through the forest. Good luck.

Interested in the story about how you found the property in that area, what to look for and your experience buying it. Also a breakdown of the details behind all the costs (especially hidden/unexpected), any rules/restrictions to your land use and taxation/ownership rights/assurances… (just a note the Canadian government and federal court is asserting once again this week that Canadians do not have property rights.)

Good day sir: You will find THIEFT to be rampant in that part of the world. You are lucky to have your boat. FWIW I live in the Kootenai's Salmo I have a bag of spare new parts for the new Evinrude. Charge coils, trigger coils, ignition coils, spark plugs possibly even a carb. For you $50 bucks. In store cost 250 or more. The trade you made was a good one. Winterize that motor properly each year and it will last you at least ten years doing what you are doing. Change the water pump impeller first thing in spring and it will be good for 3-5 years. At this time assume it is 5 years old no matter how it pumps water. When it stops pumping your motor is garbage and you are up a river with out a motor. cheers

12 ga or a 45-70 lever are smaller and lighter than that Lee Enfield. .303 may not be considered ideal for grizz but it's better than nothing Use what you have, I guess. @@boneyardmilitia1836 Rivers flood and freeze, the logistics of making a collection system that can withstand the forces of ice and debris at full spate isn’t as simple as just dropping a pipe in the water, you need a lot of concrete, money and time to build a sluice, and then a powered system - possibly a helical turbine - to pump the water uphill from the river, MORE concrete, money and time. A spring is free, not subject to such seasonal considerations if covered and insulated, it can gravity feed, and be easily contained / protected / sterilised within the homestead boundaries. Or he could of course just tie a rope to a bucket and toss that in the river when he’s there on summer vacations if that’s what you meant.

Consider a treehouse, keep it around 2m off the ground (little movement)-no foundation, quicker, plenty tech online. Build a simple, small single room cabin first-hone your skills, comfort quickly in time for winter, learn about the land before choosing the primary build site... stay in the 1st one at least a full year. Yes, agree on getting a dog. Allow at least a full year to build your primary home. Never tell anyone (even yourself) when you'll be finished... trust me. As big a cliché as it may be-it's a journey, not a destination. Lastly, and probably most importantly, take Bob Marley's advice: "No woman, no cry..."

Is the drive so great to own a flat piece of floor and sloping roof in the far wilderness? Why not just camp and enjoy it for free (as I do). Canadian wilderness is endless, how is this freedom if you are chained to a piece of bush, relying for food on pieces of meat packed in Idaho by Mexican workers and trucked in, relying for transpo on fuel shipped from Texas and vehicles made in Japan by people you never met. How is relying on all this global supply chain to conquer a little patch of Canadian dirt some kind of great thing? It seems so incredibly pointless.
