As someone who knows a lot of the LORE of Tag Force. A lot was lost in translation or localization screwed up. Mathew and Craig are brothers. However this was lost due to last names being removed for all non-main GX characters This effects a special event in Tag Force 2 involving them. Corey doesn't speak much in the Japanese version. Localized version he was made to speak more robotically for some reason. Jamie and Syun are top tag team dueling team (in the LORE) and they're always paired up and found together (in Tag Force 1 and an event in Tag Force 2 involving Syrus). Tag Force 2 introduced 5 main stay girl characters for the series (Their 5Ds incarnate are not the same character) Bright, Wisteria, Kami, Cherry, and Yuma Miyata (Her last name was cut in the English version) In the Japanese version, all Tag Force characters have special dialog when you do specific actions and give you they're own speech when "Red Hat-kun" graduates. This was removed in the English version. Red Hat-Chan (girl version of Red Hat) was scrapped early in development in Tag Force 3. Only evidence of it existing is in Bastions ending image a mock up image with him and Red Hat-Chan is shown. Which shows it exist and was planned. Tag Force gave a better send off to Dark Zane as Zane was screwed over hard in the anime when he came back. Original Zane, show cases Atticus was always goofy and messes around with Zane. Show cases how Zane and Atticus are friends despite being polar opposites. Blair having 4 separate routes was interesting. (child and disguised is more of a parody route or what if she was a main stay for a while longer in disguised route) Blue uniform Blair made her best girl and actually improves her character. Also she even let's go of her crush. People tend to exaggerate her Slifer Red route. I just find that one funny cause it's obvious in that final S4 Jaden would never talk or act like that. Tag Force actually did a proper send off to the characters (the ones considered good by the Tag Force community) and did a better job then the anime.

I love how the protagonist keeps those traits you mentioned in the video by the time of the 5d's era. For example, in some of the stories with team 5d's they'll comment how you eat a lot of food, or how you always sleep a lot, especially during trudge and mina's stories, where you're pretty much a freelancer policeman. And one aspect pretty much everyone tells you, you never lock the door. Which a lot of villains take advantage of during their stories, like roman or some of the dark signers. And people like jakob and rex tell you they'll find ways to get to your room, even if they have to bust down the door.

It's honestly surprising to see how much they gave red hat/konami-kun (that's apparently what thr japanese fans call him) characters and traits like you mentioned. But not only that, he actually got his own lore with each variation is different. In GX he's pretty simple, just a kid that goes to duel academy In 5D's he's an android that takes care one of the villain (the white hair guy, forgot his name) that came from the future but got seperated with him (iirc). He's a somewhat parent figure to him, which led to a lot of fanart depicting them as parent and child (i'm not too familiar with 5D's so i might get some info wrong) In ZEXAL while not technically a tag force game, he still made his debut in the festival game. I'm not too familiar with Zexal lore so i might got some info wrong, but in this game he's an alien similiar to barian... Actually, there's some hint even that he's actually a barian in TAG FORCE special. Basically there's nore to him than meets the eye, even dark Astral was shitting his pants knowing who he actually is (but he never said it outloud). Another strange case with this one, during one of the duel it's hinted that 5D's might actually be connected to ZEXAL since one of the character recognize Konami in the past and calling him a legendary duelist iirc. It's interesting that they give him a different take each game. I want to say something about the tag force special... But that games translation was such a dogshit one that most of it probably inaccurate. But if there is one thing that is seems like always the same with him it's that he's a dueling maniac. He LOVES to duel, he's basically the goku of yugioh. One time he got so heated (excited) in a duel he knock his opponent unconcious in 5D's tag force, which is surprising because this variation seems to be more on the quieter side of personality. In ZEXAL he came into earth via meteor that might be his spaceship. What did he do when he arrive? He beats EVERY of ZEXAL both main AND side charactets and yes including ZEXAL Yuma. And iirc it also implied he did it in a single day too. when he beats everyone which allow him to wish for anything, what did he wish? He wish for the duel festival to continue so that he can duel more. He's really passionate about dueling ong And this continue to even duel links too.
@animeegotists75279 ай бұрын
That’s what I love about him. He seems like such an interesting character, for being a silent protagonist! He honestly feels like he could slid into his own anime, and it would’ve worked! He feels so unique and likable…when he’s not teaming up with a villain.
@TheBlaze22b9 ай бұрын
Hold on. Some of that Zexal stuff is downright wrong or just false. 5ds one is correct is he an android that was sent back in time. He took care of Primo/Aporia/etc. When they were a kid in the bad 5ds timeline. Because of the timeline shenangians we can have the whole 1-6 installments of tag force on the same timeline. Since in Red Hat's Apartment in 5ds he has his GX hat. Also he can see spirits like Luna and Jaden. Besides being passionate about dueling Red Hat likes to sleep the most. More so than Jaden and this trait stays with him all the way up to Tag Force Special. Fucking same that in duel links there's no reference to him besides just showing up to duel. No quotes against GX or 5ds characters nothing

Excellent video, which does justice to the best Yu-gi-oh game series. What's really nice about these games is how much they try to correct the shortcomings of the animated series. That's why, like you, I like Misawa's story (it's cool that he's becoming this "secret hero") and Blair's (who's becoming something more than a Jaden groupie). Of the bunch, I like Tag Force 2 a little less, probably because the stories are too long. But at least these were games that gave you your money's worth, you had a bunch of hours to do to get everything, unlock all the cards or be able, for example, to team up with Sadie. Normally, the first week consists of tutorial classes, but if you disable the tutorial, the characters will just talk about random things in class. By the way, you can replay the entire first week of classes three times. After each class, the professor will give you water support cards for your structure deck. The Tagforce series are "for me at least" one of the best games in the franchise and that isn't enough to describe it. The first Tagforce cemented the legacy for what was next to come in the series, given the fact that not only you got to interact with pretty much everyone in the game "albeit from Season 1 of GX almost Season 2" but to to tag with your favorite characters of the show was something rather neat. To this day i still have my old save file of Tagforce 1 from way back in highschool, while it's a shame that neither Tagforce 3,6 or TFS never came to the west "Well technically 3 released only for Europe for some reason" it really surprised me how both 3,6 and TFS implemented some mechanics that were just about to become implemented on future installments like Synchros on 3 although limited until it's debut on Tagforce 4, Excees "or whatever" in 6 and Pendulum in TFS.

Man, thanks for reminding me of these games. The PSP was the first ever gaming console I got as a kid and I still remember the first time I played YGOTF. What sucks is that I wasn't actually able to finish it since I was a kid and was too dumb to know how to play the game optimally. Still, I had fun. I was shocked but happy that the player character became so well-liked that they bothered to give him really backstory lore.

Being a resident of Duel Academy, getting familiar with characters from the anime, making your way up the ladder of dueling… it really immersed me in the idea of being a real student of Duel Academy, really cool to see other games in the franchise doing that for other players!

Yu-gi-oh tag force literally became a part of my childhood. I played the hell out of the game from 12 years old until I graduate middle school (only played Tag Force 3 back then). It is just so fun playing against other npc duelist that have their own personality AND different decks. Some of them are meta during the time and some of them are a joke like KenYou and Bawnji skeleton deck. Playing Cyber Dragon deck during this time is extremely satisfying especially when you hit that Power Bond and summon the Chimeratech Overdragon then proceeds to OTK. One gripe I have with this game is WE DON'T HAVE A STORY WITH REGULAR NPC or Alexis' two friends lol I understand with the NPC one but the side characters? I mean back then I simp for Jasmine and how disappointed I was knowing she doesn't have a unique ending with the MC. Which the 5ds tag force has one. I mean we have a story and an ending with Sherry. Oh yeah and absolutely loved Bright and Andrea as the best NPC girls. I remember that I hated Seydina so much because how annoying his personality + his deck was lol.

I loved them ^///^. As a kid I grew up with Tag Force 2 & 4 especially. What I really enjoyed about them besides the card gameplay though, was the fact that side characters as well as some villians got more spotlight just as much as the main characters, bonding with them or at least comprehending their personalities a little more (not for everyone honestly). At least Duel Links has that same sort of anime feel, but with less personal attachment from the player outside of the card game. Other than that, I thank the Tag Force games for rekindling my interest to current Yu-Gi-Oh! a few years ago. If they got rereleased on current consoles and PC or make new ones, Konami would make a lot of nostalgic players happy. P.S: Konami got tons of potential with the Tag Force series. Just imagining what a game for each of the other Yu-Gi-Oh! anime worlds would be like. VRAINS especially could've benefitted.

Oh this game... I have so many memories about this game, from actually beating it, to having a duel with my highschool buddy irl (via YGO Pro, that game was the shit around here back then). Funny story, I was once obsessed with Jaden and his deck build-up (seriously, seeing THE banner monster on your field and just go crazy with it felt sooo good!) to the point that I buy the whole pack in this game, so basically, I copied his whole deck recipe, then comes Alexis... Ah, the good ol' Alexis.... Once you unlocked her booster pack, oh you know it's game time for ya, Command Knights, Reinforcement of the Army, those two are the good ol' one-two for every Warrior type users. You know when you maxed your relationship with her, you actually get to duel her and once you've won, you'll be gifted with the best max relationship screen ever. Also, there's this one time I actually managed to get all tier 1 duelist per playthrough (I didn't realize I could actually get all of them in one go during my earlier playthrough) and it's by far one of the most satisfying moment I've ever had. Also, to this day, I still use Warrior deck, Noble Knights to be exact. Sorry for the whole damn paragraph btw, it's just that this game really gives my teenage self one of the best moment he ever had in his life... And a buddy too!

Since the anime really popularized yugioh globally, it is very sad how we get crap like master duel now while games like duel links are good for anime fans but way too p2w. It's really sad , most people don't even know about yugioh online, the best MMORPG in the series when it comes to making your own character; you could customize their looks, the duels has cutscenes for everything just like tag force and you could give your characters dialogue lines. The game was ruined by p2w however. Hell, we can't even get field spells to cover the field like old games and it's 2024. Tag force is the best series in yugioh gaming period, it's not even close. People may enjoy other old jrpg style yugioh games but tag force sid everything right for fans of the anime. Day by day living, you get to play through basically every thing that happens In the anime plus original tag force story content, hell you could basically romance the characters!.. the list goes on. The only game close to tag force is yugioh world championship, but the story mode is more of a afterthought in that game series. I don't even play yugioh anymore because it's dead to those who aren't still riding the anime hype or just really addicted/too far into the tcg/ocg card game. I played Master duel, eventually got bored as hell since it's just ygopro, then I played duel links and had a absolute blast. Duel links doesn't compare to tag force, but it obviously borrowed a lot of elements from the tag force series and like tag force, it does have a good emphasis on immersion by giving you a ton of anime duelist to use. They even have voice lines they say throughout the duel, you can also make them say voice lines yourself. It took almost two years for me to quit because i realized how p2w komoney made duel links, people like to argue everything is grindable but it's obviously not in a way that respects your time. You have to duel like crazy to get a CHANCE to roll lootboxes basically. It ruins the game and gives p2w players a massively unfair advantage. We will probably never get another tag force game, it genuinely makes me very sad since like someone else said, I've literally come back to tag force year after year because it's just that damn good. We don't get these kind of high quality, immersive jrpg sims anymore. Now we get whatever junk they can slap microtransactions on. I don't know about that dawn of the battle royale game but even I was like oh hell yes when I saw it, until i saw it was a Nintendo exclusive for some reason. I doubt dawn of the battle royale is anywhere near as in depth or good as tag force, but its at least somewhat a spiritual successor, or carrier of the torch for those of us who want something even remotely close to tag forces immersion. It's so sad, really. Hopefully one day we get back to tag force, because even though they did make the dawn of battle royale game, it's not on the level that the tag force series or probably even world champion story mode was. I do love this game btw but I've played many of the better yugioh jrpgs and I can definitely say without hesitation or bias tag force is the best game series we've gotten from yugioh. One thing you'll notice about what I've said is games now actually borrow elements of tag force to improve their games. Duel links is one, yugioh online(now a dead game) is another and I could probably find more if I cared to look. It just shows how good tag force was in it's formula. Edit: if anyone googlea yugioh online, make sure you're looking at the one that has character models that look like tag force, not the other yugioh online I never even played lol. The ones with character models like tag force basically got it's entire dna from the tag force series and was truly a great game ahead of it's time ruined by typical komoney greed

Dislike her, fine, but it's outrageous to hate a character who was written for a one-off episode that then came back as a very minor character. @@animeegotists7527 Maybe a lot of her haters are former fans who tried to write fanfiction where she dueled and they couldn't figure out a satisfactory choice for her deck. God knows that she's been the most frustrating legacy character to contemplate for Arc-V. And that's on top of doubting whether/how I include legacy characters in the first place. The only viable ones I can come up with for her that aren't redundant--assuming I use a Ritual and not a Link Dimension because Light is the only theme I can think of a deck for, for a Ritual En card, and it has to be Light because there's no other Ritual 'theming' that gives me the flexibility as Light Fairies do; if I used a Link Dimension I could just give the Bracelet Girl OC En Fire and Salamangreat and call it a day 😅, in which case Blair could get Light Fairy Ritual to emulate Asuka {which I got from a great fic whose author I know, duel de c(œ)urs}--are E-Heroes of some variety, maybe manga, or Tokens with her ace being First of the Dragons. The former exposes me to attack by Judai fans, assuming they ever discover it if I even post it online, and the latter just doesn't feel right.

Tag Force(1-6) will always be the standard for any Yu-gi-oh game imo; nothing comes close to what they did. I think the only way to have made them "better" would be if TF2 made the player a Ra Yellow and TF3 made you an Obelisk Blue (with the matching clothes and Hat) just for the sake of yearly progression. My favorite thing about them was the anime specific cards; I loved using rock decks with fossil fusion, and for 5Ds the dark synchros (with negative levels). Such a vibe.

As someone who has beaten Reshef of Destruction 3 times including a run where I banned using the god cards, the game either requires you to have the patience to grind until you have a usable deck, or to implement cheese strategies. The AI is actually not smart, but rather utilizes having decks that would take you a long time to have the points to be able to use and so will outmatch you while you're stuck with weak cards. If you don't enjoy the grind of the standard Reshef experience, but did like the game's unique mechanics, I highly recommend the "Reshef is Actually Tolerable Now" patch. My solution involved taking advantage of the elemental rock paper scissors and counter decking everyone until the late game where I used traps and removal spells just waiting for my opponent to deck out. You can also use Ra's Phoenix Mode as it's just broken on how powerful it is. I never played Tag Force, but I enjoyed how Sacred Cards placed the player in Battle City and Reshef was it's own plotline carrying with the theme of the show. The games really felt like you were playing alongside your favorite characters. Tag Force placing the player in Duelist Academy would likely be an experience I would enjoy. When GX came out, I think we all wanted to attend Duel Academy instead of our normal school. Most other Yugioh games are just dueling with little no to storyline over and over again against the same set of characters until you can move on to the next set. Legacy of the Duelist was also good, but had you play as the characters from the show instead of as your own character. (Which was still a fun experience, just different.)

My three favorite decks are Elemental Heroes, Lightsworn and Dragon. Elemental Heroes are really satisfying to play in my opinion, specially because of Flamewingman (and shining) burn effect. Lightsworn are REALLY busted, I've recently added the Slash Draw card to my deck which helps milling during my turn and makes the deck even faster. I also play a Dragon deck that uses Horus and Red Eyes Darkness Metal, I know King Dragun offers better protection but he is just too annoying for me to summon. Aside from those three I also play a Deck that mixes Cyber Dragon with synchros because although Cybers are really strong they have very limited protection, backrow removal and card recycling, Stardust Dragon helps me keep my cyber dragons alive for them too run over my opponent, not the most consistent strategy, my hand still bricks a lot but I think it does the job.

The psp, ds, gba yugioh games are more memorable than the simulators now. The stories in those older games are really interesting and It keeps you invested.

I love the Tag games but Tag 3 was really hard to grind for affection however it's storylines were cool though and props for them making partner characters like Fujiwara

I agree with the RP aspect of the old games being great, putting you into the world of the anime. I wish we could have it both ways, almost like an MMO or metaverse lobby set in a futuristic Domino City. I tend to play a wide variety of decks when I can. If you can get the cards free, why not test a variety out. That said, for Tag Force 1 I think I played a direct attack control deck. You would floodgate with Level Limit, Messenger of Peace, etc. then equip a Raging Flame Sprite with equip spells then go in for direct attacks. Very fast games. Also I have a soft sport for Arc-V Tag Force Special, it's not as great as the others in terms of exploration & story but it's a great way to play something akin to DUEA format, my favorite period of the game. In that game, they start you with Gadgets so I stuck with a straightforward Machina-Gadget Rank 4 toolbox deck for a long time. Still haven't played the rest of the Tag Force games; I planned to go through them all in order & still do, but I'll be honest TF1 is REALLY boring. Was kinda a turn off. I've just stuck with Master Duel since.

I'm hoping we get more of the Rush Duel games. They already decided not to localize the second one which is a shame, hell they're not localizing Rush Duel itself, but maybe Konami will grace us since they're being generous this year.

I actually really like the Rush Duel game we got

@@animeegotists7527 Haven't had the chance to play it yet but I do plan to when my wallet permits. I also considered making a Japanese Nintendo account so I can download the f2p sequel (what YGO player reads anyways)

I played the tag force one on the ps2. The first one. I spent so much time making many many decks. Completed the game with all characters on page 1 and i think page 2. After that i started unlocking secret characters and beatng the game with them. After that i started tagging with random extra students and building decks to be able to win with them as partner.

That actually sounds interesting if it was a dating sim. And primarily it does because the characters have been around for a while to grow on people, not so much if it was brand new.

I think it would definitely sell if it was one.
