Man what a huge project. It's so good to see older bins getting a new life instead of just thrown in a recycle pile. I love how the one guy rigged up the ditch witch to get errr done. Chris, you continue to inspire man. Great group of guys there as well. Stay safe guys. thanks for the great upload Chris. You are THE MAN.

Good deal sir.i haven't read threw the comments. But for set up at your place try to find a 1,000 bushel bin an put it up on leggs so you can have that legg fill it while you are hauling out. Allowing you to turn an burn. Thats what we did and love it.

On the right hand bin there is some strange ripples or pleating in the sheets about 1/4 of the way round clockwise from the door. Might want to ask the bin guys what's up with that. Looks like a spot that needs an extra stiffener maybe. If the concrete is flat that shouldn't have happened. I've seen similar damage on wood floors that weren't supported properly and settled or heaved and accordioned the sheets. This looks similar but not too bad, should be able to save the sheets, just wondering what's going on there.

I find it kind of interesting that you only want to talk about the $7600 you paid for the bins, by the time those bins and that leg are home you'll already have $20k in them easy and I think my estimates conservative so there ain't no way that leg cost 10 times that or $200k+ lmao. Come on man be honest when you're chatting away to the camera lol
@2ndgenfarmer10 сағат бұрын
And at 20k or even 40k you can’t buy that exact set up so what that it isn’t new it’s the fact that if you are willing to fix things and look after stuff old is just as good as new. And if you are a farmer you should know yourself that you don’t just start off with new equipment
@Otherrandomguy4210 сағат бұрын
@@2ndgenfarmerI didn't say you could I'm just addressing what he said the leg itself brand new is probably $90 k but unless you were a multi-millionaire from other sources of revenue, pay $90,000 for a leg to put up 35,000 bushels of corn a year would be idiotic. And at a little over 20 k it's only going to be laying in his yard not erected and usable. This entire venture is going to have at least 60 k in it before it's set up for him to use possibly I'd guess a lot more by the time he buys a big generator. And he didn't need that yet he needed a couple of bins he could have found somewhere in New York took them down took them home threw them up and filled them with augers for the next five years. As my grandfather used to say sometimes people put the cart before the horse and he certainly put the cart before the horse this one.
@2ndgenfarmer10 сағат бұрын
@ for what he paid for the whole set up he is by far better doing this than buying individual bins from around the countryside and he can expand for 15 years or more with this one purchase
@Otherrandomguy4210 сағат бұрын
@@2ndgenfarmeryou can think whatever you want he wasn't even close to needing a setup like this not even close he's doing 200 maybe 225 acres and next year at least half that's going to be in beans so he's only going to have 5, 000 bushels of beans to take off and store and maybe 20,000 of corn. And quite a bit of that corn is going to need to go directly to market in November December when he's harvesting it to cover the cost of growing season because the issue is it's still going to cost tens of thousands of dollars to get this set up. I'll bet you any amount of money you want to bet the leg will still be laying in the yard next November not erected with over $20,000 sunk in it and he'll have one been set up and be filling out with an auger. 😂😂
@Otherrandomguy429 сағат бұрын
@@2ndgenfarmerand he could have picked up a couple 4000 bushel bins somewhere close to home probably for almost free. ( He already has one) And it would have held all the soybeans he's going to grow next year lmao
