I'm one of the top dukematch players so I enjoy clips of deathmatches, but I also really enjoy watching top spreedrunners as well because they know every glitch on every map. And thats interesting to see. I know the glitches in the dukematch level favorites and I can perform the really crucial ones pretty much every time even when facing a human. I think its awesome that someone can do every glitch in the whole game. It would be interesting to see the best speedrunner attempt playing dukematch for like 6 months straight. And vice versa. Have the dukematch players attempt speedruns. But perhaps they are just two different skill sets. Is there any runners that are really good at killing human players? Or are there any multiplayer dukematch players that have speedrun records? Great vid by the way! Its fun to speedrun duke because hes already so damn fast with the roids..it makes some people nauseous to even use them. I use them constantly on PVP and some people hate that! Also its cool that the developers gave a way for players to reverse and combat the shrinker with the use of the trusty roids. 3D Realms is the GOAT of FPS!

Very impressive! One question: Is there a category of speedruns for Duke Nuke 3D that excludes the use of the jetpack? I would be curious what times are achievable without it and what shortcuts can be used.

I've never seen a full game run without the use of the jetpack, but individual levels don't use jetpacks all the time. The overall time wouldn't be very much higher, I'd guess 3-4 minutes more if done really well? Would be interesting to see though!

Hey Cubeface, great running in Duke Nukem 3D! I recently started to run this game and I've got most tricks down, except the Darkside clip, which I really don't understand how it works. If you could possibly give an explanation as to how to do it, or point me in the direction of where I could find it, that would be great.

It's actually quite easy to do, if you have dosbox, and a program that can create iso or bin\cue images.

Epic Piano Arrangements he explained the skip. At the end of level 2, he said there is a bit of dialogue from one of the guards. If you click the exit sign before he starts talking (first end of level trigger), and then click again at the end of the dialogue (second end of level trigger) then it will miss the level.

If anyone can explain, why is the speedrun on the easiest difficulty? Are there different catagories? Are the skips he pulled possible on harder difficulty levels?

From what I know speedruns are usually on the easiest difficulty to minimize random elements in the run, because on harder levels there are more enemies and they can get in the way. So yeah, all the skips are possible on harder levels too.

Death Row is skipped using a glitch. If you notice at the end of Red Light District I activate the end trigger and then open up the F1 menu and wait until the alien stops talking. I do this to line up two exit triggers which skips a level.

I've done a few runs on the hardest difficulty. Doesn't make much of a difference, but easy is obviously faster so we go with that :)
