I have been buying and wearing cargo pants for many years now. Over the years I've bought dozens and more dozens of pairs mostly from Eddie Bauer. These Duluth Flex Fire Hose Pants are the absolute very best I've ever worn ... Hands-Down! I love everything about them! The tough good-looking flex material they are made of ... the deep pockets, the colors they offer them in ... the very comfortable cut and fit they come in and on and on. One of the major things I love about them is I can wear my sheathed pocket-knife along with a small sheathed flashlight on my hip without interfering with my ability to go into my pocket. With especially Eddie Bauer cargo pants, the belt loops were in the way of hanging those items in that convenient spot. I would have to opt for hanging them directly over the pocket (blocking access to the pocket) or way in front of the pocket (too far forward) or way behind the pocket (too far to the rear) ... all because of bad belt-loop placement ... which used to drive me nuts! The belt loops on the Duluth fire hose pants are positioned just right! No more problems with blocking my side pockets!

hi what's the difference between the ultimate and the flex firehose pants? WHich one would be better for detailing?

He’s back Constantly trying to find decent pants But need an option with less pockets for office AND field combined These also do not seem to wrinkle as much as compared to the other/ first pair you reviewed Do think quality and thickness of interior pocket cloth is often overlooked in many cheap pants. And prints overtly and damages actual pant fabric prematurely

Great observations. Yes, though I haven't thought much about it (I'm not a pants expert...more of a pants enthusiast), I do think pocket quality is very overlooked. These pockets are thick and very durable. I've had pants with cheap pockets over years tear through (I'm one of those dudes with janitor keys). I dont see that happening with these... I haven't, but I read the reviews... While people generally love them, they don't sound like they're as comfortable as the firehose line. That said, I wouldn't mind finding out for myself. If you end up getting them, let me know how they turn out. Thanks!

Thanks, I just wish Deluth gave crotch length ratings like every other brand. I've tried contacting them about this but all they did was give me exact measurements for the seat & crotch. That doesn't help because all I know is that I liked Relaxed & Loose Fit, no specifics. I'd love to try the Men's DuluthFlex Fire Hose Ultimate cargo shorts with 11" inseam but no one carries them locally for me to know if the crotch is a relaxed or loose fit. From your experience wearing their long pants, does it resemble relaxed, loose or regular by other brands?

I would say regular. The fabric moved very well and remains comfortable, however there pretty form fitting, at least for a big dude like myself. Hope that helps!

fyi, those aren't the "ultimate", they're the flex firehose. the ultimates have kneepad slots & different belt loops. thats all, carry on :)

Dude--i just spent 15 minutes going through old emails, trying to find my receipt for these pants from 2 years ago so I could prove to you that they're Ultimates (what I originally meant to buy)... Well, I found the receipt, and I'm a dumbass. You're 100% correct. I'm sorry I screwed this up. Can't believe no one's called me on it. I just changed the title of the video. Do Duluth pants run true to waist size? I'm 235lbs, train ALOT, and prefer 38 waist for crotch room. Any advice?

+Tuu Rask I'd double check with duluth to be sure, but they seem pretty true to size in the waist. I'm probably a 36 waist, but I wear a 38 due to my gigantic butt...don't mind cinching up the belt a little for extra breathing room. For what it's worth, the fabric stretches very well.

Tuu Rask they are true to size. I have to do the same thing and go a size up. I get a 36 and they are snug in the thigh. Make sure you get the flex firehouse. They sell a straight firehouse that are heavy and not as pliable like the flex. And their pockets aren’t as deep as the flex.
