Abnormal creatinine is an indication of tampering with urin / using not ones own urin. It doesn´t "mask" anything. It does not alter the results for any drugs. BUT! Your creatinine levels are pretty steady. There can be an infection(heavy one), there could be creatine usage (supplement, legal), could be a muscle-sickness or he diluded his urin sample/got second hand urin :P The first negative test has abnormal creatinine, why? That is why that is a problem. Just to clear some things up. A real possibility here is that he really did stop using, eats better and is more active because of that and then naturally his creatinine levels would adjust accordingly. The more you move, the more creatinine. Despite the court thing, he def. should get checked. *Fun Fact: if you are a heavy user and stop using, your THC levels will go down, but after 3-4 weeks will go up again automatically because the body starts to get rid of the stored THC. Where is it stored? Fat! Nature yo scary!*

My assumption is that he was using Creatine Supplements (Milkshakes/ similar) to increase his Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR) thus theoretically, and all things being equal, reducing the number of days it takes for THC/ anything else to leave his system.

Energy drinks can increase creatinine levels, but excessive water intake can dilute the urine sample making it harder to detect drug use. Edit: The lawyer has no clue about creatinine. Judge Simpson is very good at what he does.

6 years is amazing! Rooting for you. I teach public health and one of the courses is on drugs and it’s always satisfying when my students realize addiction does not necessarily mean a moral failing but a physical condition to overcome. At some point you have to take responsibility for your actions but recovery needs so much more support and understanding from society.

That kid is only 20 years old. I agree that you being clean for 6 years is amazing and should absolutely be celebrated! That kid on the other hand hasn’t been smoking for 20 years. It’s hard but the younger you are when you stop the better off you are all together. I’ve done nearly everything I can think of. Got hooked on heroin, cocaine, fentanyl, and at times booze. I’m clean off heroin and fentanyl for 8 months now. I’ve been on methadone for a few years already. It took me until I was nearly 50 to get my shit together. It’s tough and I wish you nothing but the very best. And I hope this kid stops lying to his mom. I was straight up with mine. She still loved me but she wasn’t happy with me. She passed in 2021. I wish I was all the way clean before she passed. I was only using a small amount of either heroin or fentanyl when she was passing away. Only $40 worth a month if that. But I still felt ashamed. I miss my mom every single day and I hope this guy doesn’t mess up like I did. At least he’s only on cannabis for now.

Sooo my son is bi-polar and it takes him incredible effort to balance his life and he is only 26. He took lots of drugs in his teen years just to try to combat what his brain was telling him and just trying to be normal again. And Yes he got in trouble a couple of times, but I believe he was trying to do his best, especially before the doctors diagnosed him in his late teens. So seeing this kid is only 20, his still needs lots of love and guidance. Thankfully he got Judge Simpson! Much love to mom if she reads this. Great job being proactive. 💜

Yes. My son was diagnosed with BPD as well and the RX meds he was on were horrible on him. It was so bad he went unmedicated for awhile. Thankfully he never got into trouble. When medical marijuana became legal here he got approved and he has had MUCH better relief from his BPD now than he ever had with any RX

My son had started using marijuana because of stress from work. I begged him to stop as at 23 he was already making over $30 per hour maintaining machinery used to make prescription eye wear. I told him I would help him in anyway I could, and he listened. Unfortunately I didn't know he then switched to alcohol. I wish I had never stopped him. Losing that job would have been far better than losing my son. He ended his life with several empty bottles in his room. He didn't leave anything saying why, he just left us. I have never felt pain like this, and no parent should ever feel this. If you find yourself in a situation like this, I beg of you to get help.

Work stress is a killer. We're all forced to work for money or starve or go homeless. And the stresses of the value of money going down, low wages, and living in a world where companies use people up all add up to a lot of stress induced health issues including addiction. Everyone has a breaking point. If a little pot helps, that's not bad. But, for some any substance used to relieve stress can become addiction. You know all of this now and you did the best you knew for him. I can't imagine losing a child for any reason. I hope you are able to be happy again one day.

Uhh, sorry defense attorney, you're wrong. Creatine can be found in sports supplements. CREATININE is different and in a urine test, it measures the amount of creatinine in a urine sample to assess kidney function. Basically, high levels may indicate a stressed kidney which could mean drug use.

(Some of the fake penises even keep the urine at the proper temperature to fool the temperature reading part of the test. I had to test for a job like that once. The guy stood right there and watched as I pulled it out and examined it without touching to make sure my penis wasn't a fake. It was for a job at a Head Start agency which I got.

Honorable Judge Simpson is flat out wrong here. Elevated creatinine level doesn't mean he tested positive, but the lack of creatinine would indicate he used fake urine. Creatinine levels via UA will show the dillution of the urine or dehydration of the subject. Creatinine levels via blood tell how well the kidney's functioning.

Ah, so the dodgy creatinine means he's been doing things to dilute his urine samples. Both too low or too high. Too low, tends to mean someone has been drinking tons of fluid in order to dilute the sample. But, of course, to get around that, people began putting stuff into themselves to INCREASE their creatinine. So...too HIGH a level shows that he's both diluting his sample and adding to his creatinine, to beat that indicator. He is VERY committed to Using.

I agree with Judge Simpson 98% of the time, and he did good by this guy considering the legal requirements of his state. But I’m 110% behind decriminalizing marijuana and think this whole thing is a joke.

I dont quite understand the kids' creatinine level impacting his drug test. Creatinine varies with dehydration, and in some, the creat test is used to make sure that the "sample" given isnt just water. Im not sure if the judge is accusing the kid of cheating on his moms tests? Is he accusing the kid of drinking too much water to hopefully flush any thc out, which lowers the creatinine levels? Im totally confused as to his subtle accusations. Does anyone have any familiarity with these tests and what the judge is worried about?

all this over weed reminds me how barbaric some places in this country are. i quit drinking awhile ago, all i do is smoke(legal in my state), and i have a great management position with the company i work for. i genuinely love my life and my community. i dont know how we are supposed to unify as a country when have such a major difference in how we choose to exist. im an upstanding member of my community who tries to help the people in my area, yet in other states some of my core beliefs are illegal(replacement of alcohol with weed to improve communities and relations with one another, gun rights, bodily autonomy). how can we truly be one people like this?

I wondered why a 20 year- old lets Mom test him: Kid's bi-polar, so not a good idea to be using pot on top of meds. I'd be really scared if he stopped taking meds- that'd mess him up something fierce.

I don’t understand the elevated creatinine. I haven’t used any substance in over a decade and mine was mildly elevated a couple months ago.
