Great Video! I can see this helping a lot of people. A few more helpful things: 1. The glass fluix cables actually carry 8 channels just like their covered counterparts 2. Many blocks from other mods have interfaces for choosing inputs and outputs (like the mekanism ones shown in the video). There is often an "input/output" as well as a "force eject" option that when used together you to avoid using pipes to return the items at all, the block just pushes its outputs back into the pattern provide via the same face it received input from. 3. For the metallurgic infuser especially you can get fancy and actually place the pattern provider directly on the infuser, set that face of the infuser to input/output, and then run a pipe from the pattern provider to another face of the infuser and set that face as the input face for infusing material, therefore eliminating the chest and some pipes from the setup.

Haha less than a minute in and you've solved my first issue. I couldn't even figure out how to get the crafting table connected correctly. Kept just adding it to the block and couldn't figure out why I could put nothing in the system. Bookmarked this for the next inevitable issue. Thanks for this.

P2P tunnels next. Still can’t wrap my brain around how those work.
@onionman709010 ай бұрын
I still struggle sometimes aswell, I'll do some research and my video after next will be on p2p tunnels
@cyro46859 ай бұрын
P2P tunnels carry channels from a controller to a different point, without overloading a single piece of dense cable. Using a second controller, you can have multiple P2P connections feed in and have multiple feed out. The ones that feed out, will carry 32 channels per channel, as every used channel is a P2P tunnel that passes the channels from the controller face to its output location. If it still doesn't make sense, I'd recommend watching the TKH video on it from a few years, P2P Tunnelling hasn't changed since its release.

p2p is the real powerhouse behind AE2 tbh

The disadvantage of smart cables is purely FPS lag when you have a gigantic network and they're all smart cables and they're all rendering the channel display.
@xythiera72558 ай бұрын
To get to this big of a network has become basicly a non factor . All mods this days are basicly running by them selfs and AE2 only realy is used for autocrafting . Channal mechanic it self basicly isnt a limitation anymore as well you dont have to think about it anymore at all

@@onionman7090 Question for ya, Is the only purpose of making a giant Controller for more channels and because it looks cool? With a single controller you get quite alot of channels by default
@onionman70907 ай бұрын
Giant controller is definitely for more channels, your going to need more than 1 for late game automation 192 from 1 controller is more than enough for early game, but when you get late game and you need hundreds of storage buses, export buses, import buses, molecular assemblers, pattern providers etc, it builds up very quick.

I like the idea that devices connect to each other, so you don't have to cable them together. Not even five minutes later you have to drag an extra cable between the iron furnace and the pattern provider in order to connect the stuff to the main frame. = / edit: 13:42 awh wtf? hhh... Well you've done a good job explaining this whole thing. I've never used the mod, I just got stuck interested in your video = )
@onionman709010 ай бұрын
I might not have done a good job of explaining it, but AE2 only chains together AE2 blocks, in the iron furnace example I had to drag that cable out as iron furnace isn't from ae2

If you want a good guide on early power options for some of the tech mods i have a video on it (: If u want it concise, some good options are Stirling Generator from Thermal Series Heat/Wind Generator from mekanism, Furnator from Powah! All of these are easy to craft and use easy to get resources For power transfer you have mekanism universal cables, pipez energy cables or enderio energy conduits (:

extremely useful tutorial, what mods would you recommend to install alongside AE2?
@onionman70908 ай бұрын
In terms of automation? Xnet, LaserIO, Integrated Dynamics and the like are fantastic for automation. I really like integrating storage drawers with AE2 aswell as it allows bulk storage without filling slots in your ME System. In terms of other mods that are fun to automate with ae2 basically any tech mod, mekanism, thermal series, pneumaticcraft, industrial foregoing, hell even gregtech. The beauty of AE2 in my eyes is that it's pretty useful in any pack that requires bulk storage and automation.

@onionman70906 ай бұрын
If you want lots of channels over a long distance, I recommend P2P tunnels, they basically squeeze 32 channels into 1 channel, and then you can choose to split it back out elsewhere. E.g you can attach 8 "input" p2p tunnels to a normal cable, run it 1000 blocks, and then attach 8 "output" p2p tunnels for a total of 256 carried over an 8 channel cable

How does Gregtech Automation work? For example with machines that need fluids and so on
@onionman70904 ай бұрын
Greg I'm not entirely sure on, iirc from watching other videos, I storage bus is a good way to get fluids into the machine, I think ae2 might be able to push fluids in if items and fluids go in the same slot but I'm not entirely sure. I unfortunately can't help too much because the whole of my experience with Greg is ULV and early LV
@menosproblemos699310 ай бұрын
All this about 'this cable connects to that, cable anchors hinders that to that'. Feels like much complication would be simpler if a cable connected to a cable/device if put directly onto it - And not connected if just placed next to it. A click and drag connection-function smacked onto that and you're game with a lot fewer components needed, yeah?
