@Ballistic Gamer Pretty sweet, you learning music theory or just winging it? I never learned music theory, I feel it and see it from my years of playing, but I would recommend getting into it pretty soon. I regret the rebel mentality I had to learning guitar and bass, I am sure I have a few bad habits and techniques that are more difficult than necessary. Considering my first guitar was stolen from a pawn shop, I didn't really have the money to get lessons.

@jstarang1
@jstarang1 3 жыл бұрын
@@RoosterFloyd definitely learn the theory early. I did the same from 13-25 then from 26 to my now age 33 started learning theory wish I would have as a teen. Best advice is learn the major scale inside and out and the formula for it (W-W-H-W-W-W-H) with that knowledge and knowing the order of the seven modes you can create any scale in your head without being near a guitar. Like c major is c d e f g a b c and with I said to learn you then know that the sixth spot of the major scale is the aeolian mode or the minor scale so if you play the sixth note a to the sixth note again tht tells you what the a minor scale is from Knowing c major so a to a in c major is a b c d e f g so that's the a minor scale. Imo the easiest scale to memorize for obvious reasons. The second note is dorian third is phrygian fourth lydian fifth mixolydian sixth aeolian or minor and seventh is locrian. The major scale is number one of course and is also called Ionian. Ionian is the most important. I memorize this with the phrase: "I Don't Play Like My Axe Loves." To help me remember the spot for each mode based off the first letter of each word. Hope this helps.

@@timavery3256 lol not sure man, I’ve never popped a string when tuning down. Which string you keep popping? High E? Maybe check out your nut slot and make sure there aren’t any burrs or sharp points in the slot. If there are, take a file and GENTLY file the burr away. Remember, you can always take away more, but you can never add back, so go slow slow slow and check after every stroke of the file. Try not to widen the slot, just get rid of the problem area if there is one. You can buy a set of nut files, but one of those small, thin, metal fingernail files would probably work. Hope this helps! Here’s some advice Super glue your picks to your eyes, they only disappear when you look away, can’t look away if they’re glued to your eyes Do the case thing once on purpose, it only ever happens once and then never again, so do it in a safe environment like on soft carpet, won’t have to worry about it happening whilst gigging then When tuning the high E, stand as far back as possible behind bulletproof glass whilst someone else tunes it for you

Some of them apply to musicians in general. The case one is funny because there are varying levels of concern. Percussion doesn't always have this problem, but from my experience, if they do, they don't care. Same with anyone who has a trash instrument. Brass is usually mildly concerned, but not too worried. Woodwinds and orchestra kids tend to panic because our babies are literal glass. Guitarists, from my experience, are usually the most normal musicians and don't tend to associate with the nerdy classical music kids too often because they don't get many chances. The guitarists in jazz band are usually trombonists that play every instrument in the world efficiently and have a lot of hobbies. 😆
