Griffin defies the common idea that “defense wins tournaments”. Just by overwhelming opponents with aggression (hard tricks), he’d rather end the match before they can fight back. Maybe he’s a glass cannon? Either way, that play-style is always a crowd pleaser. He’d probably play captain falcon in smash bros.
@TheBlakus420 Жыл бұрын
That's interesting point you make, sir jello
@English_Harry Жыл бұрын
I disagree with crowd pleaser tbh. It's quite a dissatisfying game to see someone have to attempt 5 weird tricks only landed in Irish Sheds and the 1990s and get nowhere near as opposed to two guys landing nearly every trick in the book before digging deep into the more obscure.

It’s kinda lame seeing guys who don’t really give a crap about competing but at the same time chill games like that I sometimes enjoy the most (Curren and Louie just vibing was fun). I think there’s only a handful of guys that really take it as a serious competition. Jamie, Cody C, and Tyler I think have the most winning mindsets based on how they play.

Can you do some analysis on roshambo advantage? Do winners of roshambo have a higher win rate? How many times have people got skunked without getting a turn? What are your thoughts on changing rules for each skater to have equal amount of turns or doing a best 2/3? Would love to hear some stats and your thoughts
@mclarensaleenf7 Жыл бұрын
I know you’re asking DD but I’ve been thinking about best 2/3 since the Jamie vs. Sewa game. It really sucked to see two of the best play yet only one got a chance on offense. Sewa pulling the double forward flip was insane though! I think game 2 should be loser goes first, then game 3 loser of previous game 2 goes first. I honestly think one game is too short for many of these guys (especially anyone playing Griffin or guys who specialize in wild tricks that aren’t commonly done by pros).
@dannyfanclub8902 Жыл бұрын
@@mclarensaleenf7 totally agree, I would have loved to see Sewa set some tricks and test Jamie's defense and that's what got me thinking. 2/3 would be better doesn't really solve it because still one player would get more turns to set. I think it should be one game but each player gets an equal amount of turns to set. So in this game after Sewa got SKATE, he would have a turn to set tricks. If he gives Jamie SKATE without giving up possession then it goes into game 2/bonus round/sudden death. Bonus round could be where letters reset and each player gets 1 turn and whoever is winning after one turn wins. If it's tied then they do another set of turns until someone has a lead. It just bothers me so much that SKATE is not a fair game, especially at the highest level with people like Jamie. It would also be so much more entertaining to just see longer games, crazy comebacks, and sudden death situations.

It would be cool if your ELO rating had sub stats of some sort, or use a performance points system like osu, where rather than ELO it's a point rating based on the combined total of 3 different categories. While Luan has a lower ELO than Jamie, he has a shot if he goes first because of his sheer consistency, but ELO numbers alone don't really give any insight on the strengths and weaknesses of the skaters.

You also have to take into account how nervous he must have been on such a big stage for the first time, not wanting to let people down, on foreign soil and competing against a couple legends in that final. I suspect that, second time around, he'll be a little less nervous in general, which is kind of scary to think about. That said, sometimes nerves can get you through and complacency is just as deadly
