The Oklahoma Attorney General’s office has said that State Superintendent of Education Ryan Walters has no legal authority to require certain content be taught by sending a memo to school districts. The Bible could be used to teach about the colonial period when the Massachusetts colony operated as a theocracy (complete with witch trials). The first thing they did was start persecuting other Christians. This is the main reason the US was established as a secular nation and we have the first amendment which prohibits the establishment of a state religion and guarantees freedom of worship to everybody. One could use the Bible to explain why Christian nationalism in the United States is a bad idea. We already tried that, and it went horribly wrong! In my opinion, this is how teachers in Oklahoma should respond..

Canadian here, it always boils down to two things when it comes to Religion.(not spirituality) Religion was created too control and overpower the sheep. Tell them how to think who to be afraid of and who to hate. Especially the big 3 , Islam, Judaism and Christianity.

In fairness, the Bible is the most important book in all western civilization. Learning it will help students know when someone is trying to dupe them by manipulating the Bible for their own ends. If more students knew the Bible, they could call the liars out.

I really enjoyed what you had to say here... I live in Canada, but I've been to nearly 20 states over the years for work and pleasure. Ive made a lot of friends in the US and I've been worried about them over the last few years as MAGA's come on. That said, the past few weeks have conjured some hope in me that there's a change in the wind and the times they are a changin'! I'm subscribing, looking forward to hearing more!

I have two sisters in Indiana. Both vote more Republican than Maga. We differ greatly in our political views. The do not follow the news and when they do watch, they listen to the narrow and biased news outlets. It is always hard for me to drive around Indiana with the over abundance of Trump signs, even on businesses. But I do know that many in Indiana are not Trump or Maga fans. My sisters love me and accept that our views are different. That being said, I am happy you are speaking up!

The New Testament is about 2,000 years old. Then the Old Testament is about 2,500 years before the age of the New Testament. The colonies of the Spanish, French and British (and the U.S.A) are about 300 years old. How can anyone think these histories converge in any way?

My first time watching your video and yes you are absolutely correct. I don't think Ryan understands that there's Christian Schools and then there's Public Schools. Now the Public Schools do teach some really dumb stuff but on the whole they do teach and not preach. The Separation of Church and State is becoming more and more like church and not the two ideas our founding fathers had in mind. I was just wondering if you turn up your mic 🎤 just a little bit more. I have captions but I still like to hear the narrator's voice. Thank You

A significant portion of what many call "the bible" (the old testament) is actually a part of the Torah, a Jewish sacred document. Anyone who reads or teaches this text or parts thereof, should understand that they are inculcating their children with Jewish philosophy and world-view.., not Christian. Unfortunately, this is the part of the "bible" that right-wingers focus upon, almost exclusively, ignoring the word of Jesus Christ, which is the new testament.
@mickeyhadley428125 күн бұрын
But I’m sure they’ll highlight the parts of the bible that teach being humble and feeding the poor and being kind to immigrants and loving your neighbor…just kidding; you know they’re just going to scare kids with the “follow our brand of jesus or burn in hell forever!”. 🤣

Looking at images from the James Webb and Hubble telescopes, there are billions of galaxies, each with billions of stars, each with several planets. We are here. Beyond us are molecules, atoms, and subatomic particles. The Universe is vast. We have always been a part of It (with a capital I), and we will always be a part of It. Anyone who wants to teach about God should be teaching about The Universe.
