I don't care that she was right - she had no reason to assume that would even be the case. To address anyone skeptical about surviving indefinitely inside a mall, here's a more detailed explanation: I used to work in a small supply warehouse, and I can provide insight into how much food could realistically sustain a group over an extended period. In the warehouse, we received shipments every few days: around 5-6 boxes of canned goods (40kg each), plus about 250kg of grains (rice, beans, corn, lentils) each week, and an additional 50kg of fresh fruits and vegetables (which spoil quickly). For this example, let's assume we have a single delivery of each item at the time of an apocalypse. 250kg of grains = approximately 325,000 calories (mostly carbohydrates) 200kg of canned food = estimating half as protein/fat, about 100kg or 400,000 calories (higher if in oil) 50kg of fruits/veggies = roughly 6,000 calories before spoilage That gives us a total of around 731,000 calories, providing a relatively balanced diet. Assuming a daily intake of 2,000 calories per person (enough for most people), this supply would last a single person for about 365 days. Of course, this hinges on proper storage (keeping bugs out of grains, ensuring cans remain sealed). So, food-wise, survival for a year inside the mall is possible. The Water Problem: The bigger issue is access to clean water. In my warehouse job, we had about 75 liters (three large water cooler bottles). Once the electricity goes out, water stops running from the taps, meaning reliance on stored water. The human body needs about 2 liters of water per day, so the warehouse stock would last only about a month. After that, you'd need to start recycling urine, ideally from day one, to make the water last longer. Rules for Survival: No leaving the warehouse/mall. No magical tools/materials-only what's inside the building. Assume no external threats for the scenario. Preserving Food: The first priority would be preserving the fresh fruits and vegetables. This means using salt, vinegar, or sugar (all commonly found in food storage) to prevent spoilage. Without these, the perishables are a lost cause. Additionally, saving seeds from fruits and veggies (especially cucumbers and tomatoes) could provide a renewable food source. If there's any soil available (even broken-up floor tiles could provide access to dirt), you could attempt to grow plants indoors. Breaking through the roof would be necessary to allow sunlight in for the crops. Filtering urine for plant irrigation could be done using cloth and crushed minerals like charcoal or rocks. If you can last 30 days, you might have cucumbers. If you make it to 3 months, you could have tomatoes. By this point, rats and birds will inevitably become a food source, and creating traps will be essential for catching them. Why Malls Are Better: A U.S. supermarket, by comparison, has at least 100 times the food supply of my small warehouse. This means 100 people could potentially survive for a year inside a well-stocked mall, assuming a stable water supply. Rainwater collection becomes essential here. Another major hazard is rat bites, which pose a high risk of disease like rabies (far worse than any zombie scenario since it's nearly a guaranteed death sentence without treatment). In conclusion, with proper planning, preserving food, planting crops, collecting rainwater, and avoiding dangerous animals, it's entirely feasible for a group of people to live indefinitely inside a mall, provided it's well-stocked and secure.

So Tom brilliantly decides to try shooting the lock off, only to hit the pump itself and spray gasoline all over himself and the truck, and... yeah. Only later, when an infected Ben quarantines himself in the cellar, does he locate the actual gas pump key.

Well, there were lots of dumb decisions made in the Purple Smurfs from the Smurfs Cartoon. One example is, having a public meeting outside with purple smurfs hopping around with everyone's attention directed at Papa Smurf and no one guarding against the Purple Smurfs. I viewed it as my first zombie apocalypse shortly before watching Dawn of the Dead.

I know commented this series idea like several but I decided change it up a little. So the idea is like a what if character swap thing like another character can take the place of another protagonist or put a random character in a location you think sounds cool, for example, Could Leon survive the last of us? like if Leon was had all his government training and skills before the outbreak and years later he was tasked with smuggling Ellie, you pretty much get the concept. Here are a few other ideas: Could Leon survive The Evil Within? Could Kratos survive The Doom series? Could Doomguy survive God of war? Could Batman survive Silent Hill?
@1ProAssassin2 ай бұрын
It's an interesting idea but it feels like it's super subjective like: Could Leon survive The Evil Within? Depends on plot armour, luck, etc. There's a decent chance since he has dealt with super natural beings. Could Kratos survive The Doom series? What do you consider surviving? If he ignores the conflict the world ends. If he fights in the conflict, he'd be fighting for an unknown but insane amount of time. I don't think Kratos has whatever mental fortitude/drive to slaughter that Doom guy does anymore. He's not heading towards the end goal. That and navigating as Kratos would be a nightmare, since he can't jump like Doom Guy does and doesn't have that chosen one thingy. Then you get into the ending boss fight where your idea turns into power scaling lol. So Kratos will likely live but he'd just be alone, unless loneliness destroys Gods. I don't think he reaches the end of the games though because he has no drive to. Could Doomguy survive God of war? Depends on how much you think God of War magic effects him. Everything else he can handle as well if not better than Kratos. Could Batman survive Silent Hill? Plot armour I guess. Depends on how restricted he gets. If everything remains the same as the games except the player character is far stronger/faster/solves everything like you have a guide then it's easy.

Why does everyone misunderstand this plot point in Dawn of the Dead? Yes, they were planning to leave at some point - but not soon. They state this in the movie, so I'm not sure why everyone missed it. The whole reason they were doing snack runs to Andy was because they weren't ready to leave yet. Otherwise they wouldn't have bothered sending him food. The film was very clearly setting this up as the group's long term plan, once they needed to leave the mall. The reason they left when they did was because a couple of characters made dumb decisions in a row, causing the entire mall to be compromised. They literally could not stay, because there were zombies pouring into the mall and they couldn't stop it. If people were criticising the dumb decisions that led to them needing to abandon the mall, I would understand. Because that is accurate. But to suggest they were abandoning a really good thing isn't accurate. That's not what happened in the movie. They were quite literally running for their lives. Also r.e. Shaun of the Dead: Friendly reminder to Americans that the rest of the world does not allow random citizens to buy guns like they're lollipops, so the point about the rifle is moot. There wouldn't have been guns anywhere they went. Which is probably good, because guns require ammo, which would not be easy to find if everyone was looking for it. If you over rely on guns in an apocalypse, you're going to die.

As far as the military moving people back into Britain in 28 weeks later, I feel like the way it went was this: The president promised the Britain refugees that he'd get them back into their homes (and out of his American supporters way) as quickly as possible, the military probably fought against this decision, but seeing as his reelection was coming up, he wouldn't hear any of it and pushed to send people back anyways. I don’t think it was that stupid for the survivors to decide to leave the ski lodge in Black Summer. The place was WAY too big to secure with all the windows and there were only 3 of them. One of them had, previously, been part of a group that had severely struggled with food in the past, so he was big on not wasting food. When they decided that they had to leave due to it no longer being safe, the food guy packed as much as he could, and whatever he couldn't fit, he just started eating. Dead Rising 2: The initial military rescue attempt. For starters, after 3 days of waiting, the military only sends a squad of a dozen or so soldiers to fight a city's worth of zombies? While they make it clear that Dwight and his team are professional zombie hunters, and it shows at first, the fact that these pros are so carefree about standing 10 feet from a zombie, where even a single careless bite means game over, not only seems odd, but is a complete lack of discipline from the military. Then, after the gas starts and the zombies begin to change, rather than pull back his men to reform lines and reassess their approach, Dwight goes for the zero IQ play of standing there and watching his team get picked off one by one (one of whom even got a team kill by blind firing in the fog) before finally deciding to run back to the hummer and drive away only after everyone else got eaten. Dead Rising 3: Letting Diego keep the plane keys. As early as meeting Diego, it is very clear that this man is on a razor's edge from completely snapping. Nick's group agrees on the plan to escape via a mostly broken plane that just needs to be repaired, which Diego starts out with the keys to. At no point between meeting Diego and his eventual breakdown and escape did anyone think to take the most important thing they needed for their escape away from the unstable man?

28 Weeks Later: You're so right. About all of it. But one little thing that MIGHT have prevented a second outbreak would have been the military *informing* Don that Alice was a carrier and forbidding him and their children from going anywhere near her. Yes, that sounds cruel, but we've already seen the alternative. 28 Days Later: Not advocating Major West's decision at all here, because it was still fucking dumb, but he DID explain why he had chained Mailer up: to see how long it takes for the infected to starve to death. Of course, the infected would all starve anyway, so he would have his answer with or without one of them making a mess of his back garden. Zombieland: Yes. Just yes. Zombieland 2: The dumbest mistake in this movie was the writer/director's decision to let those stupid hippies survive the zombie attack. Dead Rising: They say that violently insane people can perform feats of incredible strength. Guess the same can be said for the insanely stupid, too. I bet she wasn't a good owner anyway and Madonna ran away from her the first chance it got. Dawn of the Dead: Can't argue with this. What rational explanation could there possibly be to go and check your blood pressure when there are already dozens of zombies around you!? Was that meant to be part of the film's social commentary too? What would the message even be!? Dawn 2004: It's easy to say that they could have tried thinning the horde out, but as we saw the horde kept growing every day. Anything the survivors could have done to reduce the zombie ranks would have attracted more because there is absolutely NO way they could clear so many zombies quietly. Black Summer: Never seen this, but it's based on Z Nation so I probably never will. L4D: Nah, the dumbest decision in this game is when the AI teammate decides to heal you when you've only lost 10% health. Last of Us II: Honestly, they should just take the L and hack off the dude's arm straight away. Why risk eight limbs and two lives for one limb? Shaun of the Dead: They all should've just stayed in their respective homes. At least that way, David isn't going to piss them all off. Also, utilizing zombies as slave labour afterwards? That's straight-up demanding further trouble down the line! Anna: I still need to see this. It's been on my watchlist for years! Army of the Dead: I can only conclude that someone at the Pentagon lost their mind and started up a cult, thinking that a zombie apocalypse was going to happen and the only way to stop the spread was to offer up sacrificial lambs to the Vegas horde, thus appeasing whatever death gods they've dreamt up. Dead Island 2: Not played this yet, so I'm wondering if this douche was killed by zombies eating him or by the storm of glass when that Screamer shattered the window? At least then he wouldn't suffer as much. Last of Us TV: Ellie faking infection is stupid enough, but you know what's just as stupid? Joel didn't live up to his promise. Even if he knew she was joking, he should have shot her anyway, just to teach her a lesson! Return of the Living Dead: At least their brains didn't eaten, right? Can't eat what they don't have. Night of the Living Dead: Mmm, tasty. All Of Us Are Dead: But the fatties are gonna die first. Blood Quantum: Another one I've not yet watched. I wonder if it's on Netflix? Dying Light: I should have spent more time on this game, I ragequit far too early. The Walking Dead: I let this one slide, mostly just due to how emotional Carl's last moments are. Also, like the man said, mistakes can happen and I wouldn't even call this a stupid mistake since, ultimately, Carl was saving someone's life.

Tested this kinda in Project Zomboid. Burning zomies staggering around create some dangerously out of control fires. But yeah even just dropping heavy stuff off the roof to kill or disable some of the horde would thin their numbers.

33? I remember when he was 27! Definitely don’t sound the same, but the cadence and enthusiasm is still there. Awesome video as always man💙

To be fair, the actor that plays Carl, wanted to leave the show to go to college and try to have a normal life. I believe his fate was meant for someone else but when he announced he wanted to leave they substituted him in.

Why would they do that? "So we can progress the plot line!"-Writers.

The stupidest decision in the zombie industry is that there's thousands of zombie movies, yet not ONE of the production teams have thought of a chaotic good kind of man who protects himself fully with a nice, thick suit, 2 pairs of pants, and a medieval suit of armor he stole at a museum he was at when the outbreak occurred, who then wanders the roads with a sword, and a backpack full of provisions, looking for the next run down town of zombies, supplies, and survivors caught in the middle. Not for the supplies, but to cure the disease, one amputation at a time. Imagine if in the next season of the walking dead or whatever's in now, the survivors were trapped in a building in New York City, near the edge of town, trying to come up with a plan to get *somewhere* safer, when just as they lose hope, man in a suit of armor he painted in a dark green, with a sword on his back, screams " HEY! YOU! UNDEAD ZOMBIE FFFFFUCKARONS! COME GET SOME! CAUSE *GOD* KNOW'S IM GETTING SOME OF *YOU!* "and then starts beating the shit out of zombies with his bare hands. And when the survivors thank him from the 5th story of a building, he yells back " THERE'S *PEOPLE* HERE? WHAT THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU'RE *DOING* AT *NEW YORK?* NEW YORK'S *MY* HOARDE! *GET YOUR OWN!* "

You don't want to grab a set of random plate armor from a museum, the likelihood of it fitting you is next to zero. In a properly fitted suit of armor you can do cartwheels, but an ill fitted suit can hurt you just walking around in it. You would be better off grabbing chainmail (it wouldn't be as comfortable as a well fitted plate suit, but better than an unfitted one) or even just taking some overalls and covering it in a couple layers of duct tape... But that will lead to over heating very easily because duct tape doesn't breathe. Synthetic biker gear is probably the best bet.

@@DH-xw6jp A man who's first thought in a zombie apocalypse was to steal a suit of armor and get slashing probably will tolerate the suit feeling like a suit of metal duck taped to their limbs. Plus, after a couple of hours of the infection, between the crazy people shooting everything (which'd probably be a problem depending on the effectiveness of the armor against the bullet) and the zombies, there would be enough clothing around to theoretically just put on more clothes until the suit fits well enough. In other words, you're probably right but it'd probably do. plus, there might be a couple of suits of armor or more depending on the museum, and you'd only need to luck out with one of them, so it'd be plausible. Unlikely, but plausible.

@@GunSpyEnthusiast I'm not saying they would just be uncomfortable, I am saying it can actually cause physical injury, and it isn't just an issue of padding, it is the actual shape of the metal plates not being compatible with your body's shape. That is also assuming you even have a museum with armor within a 100 miles of you. Like I said, it would be a lot more feasible to simply add duct tape reinforcement to a set of mechanic's overalls.

How else was (Chandler) Carl going to college? He had to die somehow because leaving his dad would not be believable. lol

You could've described the "incident" in black summer better than that. It was a mercy killing requested by a trusted travel companion.

In the remake of Night of the Living Dead where the girl tries to blast off the padlock to a gas pump using a shotgun. That takes the cake for me. While not a zombie series. in Game of Thrones when the white walkers are attacking Winterfell. Whose bright idea was it to store all the people who couldn't fight in the cemetery against an enemy that can raise the dead?
