So.......... I'm about to buy this trailer tomorrow but then realized it doesn't have horizontal bar where you can tie down Tarps so your trash don't fly off in the middle of highway. My question to you is, how are you strapping down your Tarps? Where do you hook bungee straps?
@liers992 жыл бұрын
I use 2 different length bungees. 31 and 41”. Get the heavy duty rubber ones like truckers use. I hook them to the frame, fenders, or wherever I can. If you haven’t bought a tarp I recommend getting at least a 10x18 I’ve had some loads where a bigger one would have been nice.

Just found your video and thinking about getting this brand trailer. Are you still happy with them?
@liers99 Жыл бұрын
I’ve been pretty impressed with them. I run them hard and heavy. Other than tires I haven’t had to do anything to them. Still on the original battery even.

How do you charge and/or how much? Or how much would you suggest somebody charges when starting out? Per load? Per day? Load size or weight? Distance? Does weather or season matter? Material; dirt, rock, concrete, garbage, etc? Is there a minimum starting price? Etc. Do you have a price list or what prices would you suggest people charge?
@liers993 жыл бұрын
That’s a loaded question and the answer is, it depends. All the factors you mentioned play into what to charge. I run mine like a dumpster service and I also offer junk removal as an up charge. One way to start is call all the dumpster companies in your area and see what they charge and what is included for that price. Then set your price to there and see how it goes. Once you get some idea of what your costs are you need to set your pricing based on what your numbers are. I offer flat prices for 1,3, or 5 days. My price includes 2 tons of debris and I charge extra per ton if they go over. I will haul just about anything as long as it’s safe and legal. If you have a light weight truck I would stay away from roofing, dirt, and concrete. Hope this helps!

Do you make your own agreement contract and or where did you get your agreement rental contract? It seems like nobody talks about this... I can't wait to get my first dump trailer!!!
@liers992 жыл бұрын
I made a simple agreement that I wrote up and send with my invoice. I also keep a few in the truck in case someone doesn’t do email and wants to do cash. I don’t know if it offers me any real legal protection since I didn’t have a lawyer write it.
@SSMWRX112 жыл бұрын
@@liers99 I really appreciate you taking the time to let me know about it. I'm going to start this business/ junk removal as part time and I'm trying to know clearly as to how to get the agreement contract but it looks like copy/ paste then making adjustment to each needs is the best way to go.

Can a pintle hitch be put on this?
@liers993 жыл бұрын
Sure. Any standard coupler should fit.

Hey where did you get the coupler pins from?
@liers993 жыл бұрын
I got those from Northern Tool. Should be able to find them just about anywhere that sells farm supplies or towing accessories.
@TF8563 жыл бұрын
They are probably regular standard hitch pins you can get at any hardware store. Personally I like the straight ones with the ring handle on them. The ones with one bent and on them just look cheap or cheesy to me,

Doing a similar thing, How did you get started ? Where do you advertise ? I have my dump sitting outside now waiting my GPS tracker but I wanted to start advertising this week. One thing I noticed wouldn't you be worried if someone tries to steal your trailer that those wheel locks will wreck someone's driveway which would probably come back on you ? Just a thought..

Congrats on getting going! As far as getting started I added this as a service to my handyman business. I bought two trailers at the first of the year and just went for it. Advertising I do some on Facebook, a lot of word of mouth, and I have someone that runs my website and does my SEO for me. This business has inherent risks that come with it. If someone tries to steal the trailer and tears up property my general liability would cover that. I would much rather have to deal with a scratched drive than a stolen trailer. Thanks for watching! Best of luck!

@@liers99 Great video very informative. I have one question for you. What insurance carrier do you have for your truck? I understand the general liability will protect you from someone hurting themselve while loading the trail.
@liers993 жыл бұрын
@@thegipper4573 I carry a general liability policy as well as a commercial auto policy. Both of those are pretty much required if you have a business. To get started I had my truck listed on a personal policy for business use. Very few people will write that policy however and it depends on the structure of your business. I recommend really shopping your insurance and try to find an agent that will work for you. Usually that will be an independent agent that works with multiple company’s. Hope this helps!

So, when you haul loads to dump, what do you charge? How much do you make off each load? I want to pick up a dump trailer for my personal use, but want to try to help pay for trailer by doing side jobs like you. Any tips would be surely appreciated, Thanks.
@liers993 жыл бұрын
If you are just doing it as a side gig do a little research on Facebook Marketplace and see what others in your area are charging. Then figure ballpark expenses and what you want to make on a load and see how that compares to what the other guys are doing. This industry is very market specific so what I charge in my market probably won’t work in yours. I made some educated guesses when I started.
