I think Austin has a strong guard for other people who he believes expect from him, I believe he probably struggled/struggles with feelings of rejections and his coping mechanism is to project this sort of mindset of “I’m probably better than you and I want to see you let me down.” When Ally comes into play she lets him know that she already accepts him but has her own guard of ‘I want to make sure there are no red flags’ and does that by making him feel more welcomed then previous contestants. Austin is pleasured by the fact she falls under his standards but also speaks to him like he’s the knowledgeable one, which he so strongly believes bc he has to to protect himself.
